I can completely relate to this. It's even harder in a partnership where you're the art director and everybody assumes the illiterate writer you work with came up with the ideas. Not that I've done anything as special as Julian has, but it's horrid all the same.
I totally get Koenig's point of view. George Lois is/was an megalomaniac jerk-off, but then the creative departments of all ad agencies are always filled with ego maniacs who rob and steal for their own gain. Many of us ad types have had to endure the petulance and dishonesty of Lois types. We see through them. So Julian, just know that the people who NEED to know, do indeed know the truth.

Blah, blah, blah, semantics and pissing and moaning. Unfortunately the public doesn't know how ad teams work. The creative director (writer) bounces the main concepts off of the art director (graphic design) and together they build up and present concepts to the client with the account exec. Of COURSE the writer is the main source for the IDEA, but the EXECUTION would not happen without the art director. Writer gets the majority of credit, but certainly not ALL of it. Stop whining.
I personally relate to Julian. I wrote a book Toxic People. Marsha Petrie Sue did intellectual thievery, also calling her book Toxic People & word for word copying of my work. As I venture forth in pursuit of justice, Julian's voice will propel me forward. People who take credit for others works and do word for word copying like Marsha Petrie Sue & George Lois must be exposed for the frauds they are. Julian should now have peace of mind for achieving justice in the court of public opinion.
Julian: you were the best I ever worked with in 40 years in the business. I even appreciate your telling Lois Wyse that I was " a cocky little bastard" at PKL. She responded that I was still many years layer at Wyse adv. Would enjoy talking to you any time. John Shima
a writer of any size sentence is nothing to poo-poo.I write long sentences, julian writes short ones,so what? Today on fathers day, with my dad long gone, in my mind I adopted him for a couple minutes, a truly fascinating gentleman.Cudos to MR.KOENIG,he has done his family proud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
