  • Finally! I hate how people think that being an Atheist is not believing anything. If there is no 'higher-being' then AT LEAST believe in yourself and make the most of who you are and your existence. :) Great video!

  • You are stoned.

  • Disgusting. Human pride will be the death of your soul.

  • love the way when you reversed this it all became apparent of the true meaning of your vid. Profoundly spoken mrdavidsmalley !

  • Nah, nothing you people pull outta your butt surprises me anymore.

  • This is not only a brilliant depiction of literary prowess...but also an incredible example of the level of intellect needed to truly decipher reality from fantasy. One must have the patience to muddle through the fodder in order to find the truth. This world is packed to the brim with the expectations from the impatient. We have to educate ourselves with the oppositional premise in its entirety in order to properly refute it. This is a great demonstration of patience. Awesome...

  • This is very clever yeah, but I don't believe in what you've writen here from a Christian point of view. I say this only about the first half of this video.

The second half is fine, that is your beief.

The purpose of this comment is just so that people don't think that this is what christians believe.

eg. 'To set yourself free from guilt you must continue your search and look for answers',

Answers don't free you from it. (Or seeking them for that matter)

    Thanks for the video,

    Joe

  • ----> favorites

  • just talking... I always thought it would be funny if we sent machines to anotherplanet and they "multiplied," they would have the same exact debate as to whether they had a creator or not. that would make a cool movie...

  • This shit goes hard. Hahahaha

  • so... yep, Atheism is the opposite of religion. nice point to make.

  • That was awesome!

  • David Smalley wins

  • That was truly THE most artistically interesting and relevant video on the topic I have ever seen.

Congratulations. That, sir, was divinely inspired! ;)

  • This video is made from 100% win. SHARE LIKE HELL. Er... not hell because that doesn't exist but... you get me.

  • Very well done... This is the perfect piece to send to someone who is is the transitional process of becoming aware that he/she is becoming an atheist.. It lures them in with their confirmation bias, then speaks the truth. Very well done indeed...

  • I was wondering why it was worded retarded and not making sense the first time!!

  • Lets be honest guys, whether you believe in God or not, whether you're Christian, Jew, Hindu or whatever- we will find out who was right only when we die.

  • @AaronWarner10 I disagree.. i don't think dying teaches any lessons, as i understand death to be the end of life, and thus the end of the capacity to learn.

I coincidentally also understand that thinking there is even a capacity to learn beyond the occurence of physical death is equatable to a mild delusion of granjoure.

Death is the end, and if you belittle it with a wish for a continuation, you belittle all the life you had before it, and rob yourself of purpose and joy, i think...

  • @AaronWarner10 No, cause if the atheists are right, we will die not knowing. So, it is better to try and see what we can do to find out the truth here and now.

  • @thelordmemnoch If Atheists are right, they lack belief in god. Atheism does not make any other claims than that.

  • @Dimitriexeno I know that, I was merely saying that if there is no god and no afterlife, when we are dead we are dead. We won't find anything out then.

  • I saw another video just like this one, with the reading phrases forwards and then backwards to completely reverse the meaning. I forgot what it was about, though...

  • Fantastic video... I personally loathe the moniker "Atheist". It would be like calling someone an "Abigfootist"... I like "Non-Theist", or Antitheist is even better.

  • @sparky7718 I don't know about you, but I like being called an "Aunicornist".

  • @thelordmemnoch I'm an Alochnessmonterist too, and also an Awizardofozist.

  • neat...liked it

  • i did watch to the end yes i was suprised -suprised to see 2;37 mins of my life go up in smoke! and yes DO be a guardian angel in life- that was gods wish to be kind helpful forgiving etc thats just what you do here on earth in life alongside your belief in the lord and the belief you wil be saved for your belief in him and for your efforts towards hummanity.if ONE person in power believed and tried there wouild be no famine instead money is stockpiled and the needy ignored and god is mocked

  • Eh. You were going in the right direction before you said that the Bible is an objective truth. The Bible was man-made, whether God-inspired or not, and it has also been misinterpreted, translated, and censored over time

  • @boleroinferno Well, once again, someone didn't finish the video.

  • @mrdavidsmalley Life is too short to watch every two-minute video that starts on unsound principle

  • @boleroinferno I'm an atheist. Watch the video.

  • @mrdavidsmalley I understand that. But philosophically, I think it's condescending to presume that your whole video is relevant to everyone. Straw man arguments disguised as genuine belief are unacceptable in discourse intended to seek truth because they promote distrust.

Kant is relevant to this question.

  • @boleroinferno And it's intellectually irresponsible to watch a portion of a presentation and then pass judgment on it as a whole, with negative comments. If you want your opinion to be taken seriously, give the video 2 more minutes so that you at least know what you're insulting.

  • @mrdavidsmalley I concur - at first glance i felt the urge to comment early also, but patience and prudence kept me watching for just another minute, and the brilliance in your artistic portrayal shone brightly and clear. Had i given into the urge to act, you would undoubitably have responded similarly to a fool like i too would have been at such a time :)

Thanks for a good vid, hope you decide to make more like it!

  • @mrdavidsmalley true that, although I may not agree with the vids but boleroinferno just looks dumb right now lol

  • @mrdavidsmalley Not at all irresponsible. Death of the author.

If you weren't trying to force your beliefs on other people, perhaps you would understand that the argument I gave above about the interpretation of the Bible is an argument which discredits uneducated attacks by people who call themselves "atheists" and then define religion as something necessarily objectionable. To which the answer is obviously NOT that (premise: Christianity sucks) therefore all religion sucks and there's no God.

  • @boleroinferno You have absolutely NO idea how much you're embarrassing yourself. Watch the entire video. Otherwise, you're just being obvious troll.

  • @UniversalPotentate I did watch it. What I said stands

  • @boleroinferno You only have to look at the like/dislike bar to see whether a video is christtarded or atheist on YouTube. The christtard videos are always down-voted(or ratings are disabled) : )

  • @winterstellar Only people who want to force their beliefs onto others bother with that bs. If you want to ponder religion and God, you really have to do it yourself, because discourse around it sucks.

Actually, Terry Eagleton gives a rare glimpse into a sensible approach to conceptualizing religion

  • Nice. Great way for people to start

  • That was very clever :-)

  • 128 people didn't watch the whole thing

  • Wow! That really was amazing.

  • I will favor Agnosticism.

  • @DazzleKidd Agnosticism doesn't mean you are neither a Theist or Atheist. You have to be one of those two.

  • @Dimitriexeno Who says it has to be so black and white?

  • @SynestheticSoul The definitions do. Theism is a belief in a god or gods, and Atheism is a lack of that. There is no in-between, really.

  • @Dimitriexeno Agreed.

  • @Dimitriexeno Yes there is. Atheism (at least by dictionary definition) states that no God or Gods exist. Atheism it's not simply the lack of faith, is an active denial of God's existence. Agnosticism, o the other hand, tells we can know nothing about the supernatural, not even if it exists or not.

  • @roberjruiz First off, denial assumes that a God or Gods exist. Secondly, the dictionary is wrong. Get a correct one.

  • wow. amazing.

  • okey dokey. I have but one argument. who says that gods only word was the holy bible? some idiot thousands of years ago and all his legions of followers? and which version of the bible are you talking about? there have been hundreds of different versions tailor-made to suit the personal wants of the people in charge of each of the different branches.and unless you know hebrew, and know where to find it, I highly doubt youve read the original.

  • @Karmacreature So far, NO ONE has ever read the original of ANY book or manuscript. Translation always changes context, words, meanings, etc. This goes without stating anyones beliefs. =D

  • Brilliant.

It was iffy at the beginning and I was beginning to wonder why I was watching, but your use of inversion here was amazing.

    Really liked it.

  • The first half of this video is correct.

  • @ParaPerception The second half of your statement is correct. The entirety of mine is, too.

  • Awesome and so very true.

  • Clever. ^.^

  • brilliant!

    めっちゃかっこいい!

  • That's very clever!

  • I don't think I like this video, actually.

  • @ncc1965

"Nazi Germany" - "God Is With Us" on every soldier's belt buckle and a leader sworn to take revenge on the Jews for the death of Jesus.

"North Korea" - A closet theocracy with a secular god emperor instead of a celestial one. Kind of like the - "USSR".

"Cuba" - To score propaganda points against socialism Cuba was endlessly harassed and isolated by the USA, ensuring maximum paranoia, minimum standard of living and no hope of maturing beyond a post revolutionary military government.

  • Dude. This was BRILLIANTLY done!

  • Can we please let go of the ridiculous, irrelevant arguments about abortion and remain civil human beings? Please?

  • Clever. Very clever. I like it.

  • @Sorflakne I'll say it again; Clever. Very clever. I like it. No other way to put it. Good stuff, mate.

  • he sounds like keanu reeves

  • The atheist societies he is looking for already exist or have been tried. USSR, Nazi Germany, North Korea, Cuba. Truly happy places.

  • @ncc1965 What are you on about? I'll give you the USSR, but Nazi Germany was about 95% Christian, Cuba is diverse in religious beliefs, but about 60% are Catholic, and while there is some religion in North Korea it is more like a theocracy whose leader is viewed(forcibly) as the deity.

  • @lemmyh2 Doesn't the USSR fall under political religion?

  • This video is a lie.

  • And?

  • How small mr. smalley.

  • Not really a great video. Pretty once sided view.

  • @BloodBath1560 Are you going to give reasons or just give assertions?

  • @auroraman56 The video gives the assumption that in order to actually be happy you should reject Christianity. That's not necessarily true considering the fact that there are many Christians who are happy in life and in their faith. Therefore I don't agree with the video and that assumption. Not really any need for much explanation on that. Simply just my opinion.

  • @BloodBath1560 I completely agree with you. I used to be Christian and I was plenty happy as a person. When I rejected my religion, I didn't become any happier or sadder. Anyone who asserts that either lack of religion or having a religion makes you happier is wrong, though I will say that I have become happier in many aspects due to my leaving religion. But they key thing is ... everyone is different. I agree with you completely.

  • @auroraman56 I agree with that.I myself am Christian and I'm not necessarily happy in life at the moment and it doesn't have anything to do with being Christian. I'm just in general not happy about different things. There are also many misconceptions about us being judgmental. I for one don't fit that category unfortunately it gives me a bad rap. I may not necessarily agree with the atheist view but if you or anyone else feels happier by rejecting religion than far be it for me to question that.

  • @auroraman56 Be Christian again. God is so awesome and you will never be totally fulfilled unless you follow Him. You won't find true fulfillment without Him, I can assure you that

  • @animallover946 How about ... no. Christianity is such a pile of shit and you are despicable to resort to such low tactics of giving such bullshit promises to try and convert people. I am fulfilled by myself, my life and my family ... not God. God isn't even worthy to suck my dick, though he should anyway, but he can't because he's not real. How about you try instead?

  • Such a rhetorical video, still this video assumes that in order to have all this you would have to reject Christianity, which is false, you can have and do all these things and be a Christian.

  • What garbage!

  • That's pretty fucking awesome. Shows just how backwards religion is.

  • Kickass video. People need to learn to watch before they comment.

  • I'm really impressed.

  • I love you. I love you so much for making this video. You're amazing

  • best.video.ever

  • Awesome. Just Awesome.

  • Mr. Smalley, for this video, you deserve a medal.

  • i actually thought this was pretty cool! (:

  • Very cool video, remember to finish the video!!!

  • What an awesome video

  • People cant look for answers in science if u yhink our ideas are stupid so are yours

  • lost generation?

  • apostate pride

  • Very clever. It's easy to figure out who watched the video to the end. :D

  • great vid man and the ending did surprise me. and i agree with everyone else, theological debates are pointless because they are impossible to prove and get evidence on

  • The absence of believe can hardly be called" atheism". Does not " ism' usullay describe a wolrdview . e.g. a religion.

  • @ndzoko Considering the prefix 'a' means 'not', that would be like saying that if my plate started out full of scrambled eggs and then I ate my scrambled eggs, saying my plate does not have scrambled eggs on it would be false because scrambled eggs are food and no scrambled eggs are not.

  • @ImFlareonBitch ; I messed up my comment. What I wanted to say was. ...The absence of belief can hardly be called a belief...

  • brilliant!!

  • AAAAWWWEEEESSSOOMMMMEEEE!!!!

  • that was brilliant.

  • That was awesome!

  • Hmmm...effectively shows both sides of the argument. Good job.

  • Good vid, I enjoyed it!

  • ... well this was... interesting..? Personally i thought this was dumb... Jesus died for us, man!! When I was Atheist, I was the least happy person that I knew! And after I asked God to take me, even in my broken state, He accepted me and now I'm so filled with Joy it's rediculous! :)

  • @xxGodsBabyGirlxx I highly doubt you WERE a atheist.

Actually i think you were just a atheist looking for attention or didn't know shit about science so you just take someone else's opinions.

Than you got your imaginary friend.

  • @1peterkim123 actually, i was very much an atheist... and LOL im not trying to start a fight so u need to calm ur pants xD

  • @xxGodsBabyGirlxx I don't have a problem with you, but these videos are a sea of pissed of atheists who are pissed fro no reason. You will get a lot of hater comments. Not that you should be silent, but be prepared to be hated on.

  • @TheRadioactivemutant haha don't worry :) I'm ready for stuff like that... I always think about the response I'm going to get whenever I write comments on videos like these :P I don't mind them because it says in the bible that I'm always gunna get ppl bashing on me for believiing in Christ. So it's not really a big deal.

Thanks for the heads up though!! :) <3

  • @xxGodsBabyGirlxx If god told you to kill your child, would you do it?

And don't say it's not in the Bible!

  • @ImFlareonBitch baha! of COURSE its in the Bible. But God stopped Abraham from killing his son Isaak... and nowadays, its kinda hard to tell if God was telling me to do something. But if He was telling me to do it I would just trust that God would provide and that He knows what He's doing.

  • @xxGodsBabyGirlxx I know, it was kind of a "Hey, dude, go kill your son," "Nooooo, I'm just shitting you" kind of deal. How would it be harder to tell these days than it was in those days? Would you seriously kill your child because god told you?

Speaks for the morality of the religious folk.

  • @ImFlareonBitch Abraham was willing to sacrifice Issac if that's what the Lord wanted him to do. Should we love the gift more that the giver? Abraham also had faith that God would provide a lamb. And the Lord did provide a ram in the bush. And because of his faithfulness and trust in God he was greatly blesssed.

  • @greenblue49 And this is why atheists are so against religion. Anybody that could seriously justify murdering their child with "Well, god said so" has some serious issues. Christians like to accuse us of having no sense morality. I think it would be entirely the opposite: we have a sense of morality because we are born with it and raised to have it. You would ignore your sense of morality over a figment of your imagination. Pathetic.

  • @ImFlareonBitch Last I checked Christians are anti-abortion. You must live inside a cave in Afghanistan.

  • @BlueShark20201 Last I checked, abortion isn't killing children - it's killing fetuses. You must live in a cave in Mali. Literacy is obviously not your strong point.

  • @ImFlareonBitch Progression of life, dumbass. What is it called when life is stopped by someone else ? IDIOT.

  • @BlueShark20201 Progression of life? So a single-celled organism deserves the same rights as a full-grown human? You should probably take your anger out on god, considering he aborts 70% of fertile eggs before the poor lil things even have a chance to implant in the uterus. :( What an evil, maniacal being.

Also, it's called different stages of life you dolt. Go complain about children not being allowed to get drunk if you're all for some "equality because you're alive" bullshit.

  • @ImFlareonBitch Lets be real this is completely irrelevant no matter what we think.

  • @BlueShark20201:

I think he was taking about the treatment of actual children and not of foeti. Besides, the most religious states of the US have the highest abortion rates..

  • @MsHyde1 So lets automatically assume the Christians are having abortions. *facepalm*

  • @ImFlareonBitch Let me answer. God only required Abraham's willingness, not the act. God promised that Isaac would marry and have children. Heathen nations sacrificed their children to their gods all the time. Molec, Baal, and others. God wanted to know if Abraham was willing to give him that much. Also the Abraham sacrifice was a type and shadow of Christ being offered, God's own Son. Abraham trusted God enough to believe that He would raise Isaac againg from the dead. God jsut stopped it!

  • 'to be truly saved from life'... you need to accept jesus - he's salvation, mate.. That's sorta why he died for you :/

  • Ugh. Disgusting. The whole world is now hating on christians, evil people...

  • @RandomlyAnimated

eeh... i don't see the problem?

  • @TheHatebreeder456 Hating on anybody is WRONG. Love everyone.

  • @RandomlyAnimated So Do you hate those who hate others?

  • only god could create such a video. are you jesus, by any chance?

  • Another way humans can dodge their conviction...

I used to do it too, we all have at some point.

Hell, even C.S. Lewis tried to disprove the Bible for 30 years...then converted.

Good vid though, you have a great talent sir, i just wish you would use it for better causes :/

  • worst. video. ever.

  • @DiglettUser did you finish it?

  • @DiglettUser really was. why do atheists think they're so smart?

  • @vinoa Atheists don't think they're smart. They just think you're ridiculously stupid.

  • @ImFlareonBitch very good. you got me there by proving my point. only a smart ass atheist would presume to know about me or my intelligence based on a few words found on a youtube comments page. good job buddy, the gold star's on the way.

  • Comment removed

  • @4IDHero I heard many people say that "only by the inspiration of God could something so intriguing happen with a message." So to prove them wrong, I knocked this out in 2 days - as an atheist.

  • @mrdavidsmalley are you saying you thought this up in two days cause this has been done tons of times, ive even seen it done to promote christianity

  • that just blew my mind.i was actually going to write a negative comment until the video started to play backwards.truly amazing, but i prefer the second half of the video more.just sayin.

  • Ethnocentric garbage.

  • @jaywock did you finish it?

  • @mrdavidsmalley I'm pretty sure he stopped before 1:10 lol.

  • "You're allowed to believe in a God. You're allowed to believe Unicorns live in your shoes for all I care. But the day you start telling me how to wear my shoes so I don't upset the Unicorns, I have a problem with you. The day you start involving Unicorns in making decisions for this country, I have a BIG problem with you." -Matthew Schultz

  • Wow! God is the creator and just as you were born from your mother's womb (which it is probably pretty hard for you to comprehend that you were conceived, were a fetus, you were given a soul and was born) it is hard to comprehend all of the truths about God. Seek Him while He can be found, if you are not too hardened already.

  • @honorXrealXmothers so you tell me, where is the soul? what is it?

  • @cubednation Your soul is the part of you that makes you human.

  • @honorXrealXmothers what does that even mean? science has never found a "soul". there is no way to measure it, or even remotely know where its at....how do you explain that?

  • @cubednation There is a lot that science has not found!

  • @honorXrealXmothers Yeah, but it is because of science that you have a cell phone, a car, and the computer you are using to talk to me right now. Has religion ever done that? No.

  • @cubednation You're right, God gave humans the capacity to build all of those things out of the elements that He created. And yes, only humans have the capacity to make such things. Maybe the soul is part of the intellect that only humans have (not animals) that allow them to build such amazing things.

  • @honorXrealXmothers so now you think the soul is the brain? lol so let me get this straight, you think the soul=brain....so really the brain is what makes us human. and thus really the word soul is not needed because it is in fact our brain. so yes! i agree the BRAIN exists and the BRAIN is what helps us create inventions. not religion.

  • @cubednation Religion has done many good things. Religion has also done many bad things - Jesus was particularly upset with the religious people of His day!

  • @honorXrealXmothers yeah, religion is bad i got that. but being a christian i know you think its a relationship, with an invisible guy. but look again when you read the bible, and then find that IT is discredited, then jesus ceases to be the son of god. he was just a smart guy who was turned into a legend, and died like everyone else

  • @cubednation anyways it was great talking to you, hope you think about what i have said. But yeah, im sleepy now but you are welcome to subscribe to my channel, cubednation. as i go though each of the books of the bible in this year. maybe we can learn together. :) goodnight!!

  • @cubednation I agree, it is time to get off of this thing! I'll visit with you later! Good night!

  • I'd rather believe in God than be an atheist. Christians seem to be a lot nicer and a lot happier.

  • @Iusestuff You should meet more atheists. The loud idiots on YouTube don't represent us all. Go to dogmadebate dot (com).

  • @Iusestuff you'd be surprised...because as a former christian, i'm alot happier now as an atheist

  • @cubednation Exactly, I think you have a lot more to live for if you're an atheist. Because, after all. We only live ONE life.
