English at school and business settings. Spanish at home! it dependson the ethnic group. Garifuna speak English in school and business but garifuna at home. Most Belizeans are able to speak spanish very fluently. i'm Belizean and in my opinion it's 50/50.

is it true that a large portion of the people from Belize speak spanish as their first language???? I know belize is an english speaking country but due to its proximity how influential is spanish?? is it used in everyday life like in conversations? schools? local governments??
English remains to be the primary language in Belize. Most of the citizens are at least bilingual in Spanish and English. The teachers at the school I was located taught in English. I believe most people use a combination of languages in daily life.
To answer your question, Belize has a diversified society, many cultures and languages. Kriol and Spanish are spoken among the population. &&& yeah we are an english speaking country but diversity has changed all that. We have the Maya, Kriols, Garinagu, Mestizo (Spanish), Mennonite, Indians & Chinese. List can go on!
In some cultures like the Mestizo, it is used on a daily basis but not taught in schools!
@maximus0032 they do use Spanish but there English that they learn in school is different than ours they use Creole i really don't know how to explain it but search the language an the reason i know this is cause i came back from where she was at on a youth mission trip an the kids told me
Ahhh Coro, my hometown. Hopefully you are not showning us vids of the bad parts to emphasize trash, blight and so on. It is part of a 3rd World Country but there is so much better. Try swimming with manatees of the wharf for instance....
