I remember this show debuted at the same time as Rugrats and Doug. Rugrats was pretty good, but Doug was horribly dull. Ren and Stimpy? So surreal and awesome that it's still a favorite of mine.

I really love this show! I wish I had grown up with Ren and Stimpy, I love it! XD I like the episodes where John Kricfalusi voiced Ren better, they were more intelligently twisted. Compare the episodes "Stimpy's Invention" and "Sven Hoek" to "City Hicks" and "The Scotsman". Nickelodeon has a history of ruining shows, don't they?

@DarkestPanik Actually, he just did Stimpy's voice at first. Ren was voiced by show creator John Kricfalusi, but once he was fired by Nickelodeon, Billy West took over as both voices. However, he was smart declined to reprise either role for the Adult Party Cartoon, believing it was terrible and would damage his career. So Kricfalusi returned as Ren and Eric Bauza took over as Stimpy.

@18haylo I feel like the Adult Party Cartoon could have been great if they allowed it to grow. One of the problems was the initial shock of how far the show went into adult territory, but once you got over that, it was pretty damn funny. The episode where ren tortures the frog was great. And the ones that never aired that are on the "Lost Episodes" DVD were even better than the ones that did air.

@18haylo Now, that's something I didn't get. West turned down the role of being the voice of either Ren or Stimpy (or both) because it would 'damage his career', yet for 10+ years, he portrayed the moronic Philip J. Fry on "Futurama", which was just as crude and over the top as Ren and Stimpy.
