Waylon's version of this song is the best in my book! I like kris but Waylon has a way of making a song all his own. Thank you so much for posting this. Now all I have to do is get the record (no remastering for :) )
@baldnoogie Luther i never fail to be surprised along with Mickey Newbury he is probably the best of his generation i just love the guy thanks Luther .. stay well my friend
Teddy, there are not words to describe how much it means tome to be able to hear this song sung by Waylon. I wish I had a million dollars to give to you. It would be worth it. Thanks a million. I've been looking for thist track for a long time.
I'm a huge Waylon fan and l do like this version but I don't think it's better than....it's just different. Kris' delivery is very Soulful...as always...
im sure you get this all the time but could you burn this to cd and I'll pay you for your time and shipping if its cool.let me know my email is melderwan1@yahoo.com thanks brother and if not thanks for posting this.
Yea i agree with you as much as KK only sings songs that suit him. and that he writes most of his, like he wrote this, i suppose they have to suit him just fine.... i agree Waylon can take any song then own it ...TC
Waylon is the best country singer ive ever herd in my opininion but please dont take anything away from Kris Krifstoffersons version. Waylons voice is incredable but although Krises voice cant match it Krises early 70s stuf could take you on a seedy smoky journey wich his raspy voice kind of matched and his albums were underated just like Waylons its horses for corses and I love both artists.
No wonder you prefer this version! KK is one of the best composers/songwriters ever, but he can't do much with his own songs because of his lousy voice! As for Waylon, he's my alltime #2 singer; the first one being THE King!
Ena i have to say as far as i am concerned there is only one king That is King Waylon, i agree with what you say about KK apart from the voice, i quite like it , his songs suit him thanks for the comment have a great Holiday
Scruffy that sounds like a thing Waylon would o' done but this is from that album ''Good Hearted Woman'' as it tells you at the end of the clip, and he don't say the ''F''. Now legends are stories and may be that is just a bit tall, i can't say i have ever heard the song ended that way by.Waylon.. Hey but that don't mean it didn't happen??
What is the point of writing lyrics and saying what is in the song when we all got ears, and yours don't work to good my friend, because the last line of your lyric isn't what was said at all, he didn't use the ''F'' word, may be you just added that for effect.
In a raucous, rocking and reverent memorial service, Waylon Jennings
was warmly remembered by friends fans and family at Nashville's Ryman
Auditorium on Saturday Mar 23 2002.
The balcony crowd was made up of staunch and very vocal Jennings fans.
There was more black leather showing in the balcony than on the stage and the ground floor combined.- One fan t-shirt read "Waylon F-----g Jennings," as he used to introduce himself in shows long ago!.
Yea i understand that JC as such a great voice for telling a story , I have both versions and KK's too and it don't really matter which one i'm listening to Thx for commenting
Yea he beat the Devil. But Waylon probably had his own demons, it was them that got him in the end, but he lived his life the way he wanted too and left the rest of us as he did his family with some great memories..Thx for commenting

You only hear what they want you to hear.
Recording engineers create, modify, mix, dub, shape, control, edit, add echoes, delays, speed up, slow down tempos, fine-tune voices, alter sound and clarity to create polished recorded sound.
They manipulate sound.
Good example.
Recording engineering.
Waylon's Amanda 1974
"Now I'm over thirty and still wearin' jeans"
Same recording Amanda 1979
They took out the best line and put in.
"Now I finally made forty and still wearin' jeans

In the 70's I heard Kris K sing the lyrics with the " F" word and laugh .
1971 Waylon was now a major recording star and into his "outlaw period." He had power to record songs his way and not be told how to do it.
Waylon liked that line from the song so when he recorded it he added the "F" to stick it to RCA's Chet Atkins and
his Nashville Sound. It was edited out but it sent a message to RCA.
From now on we are going to do it my (Waylon's ) way.
That's how the legend goes. AZscruffy

I Beat The Devel.
I Drank His Beer
And Then I Stole His Song
A hard start in the beginning for Waylon but he beat the Devil at his own game.
