  • Do you know what the diffrences are between the models?

    Thanks

  • @Annex2991 I'm not an expert on the differences but I believe the main difference is in the electronic monitor, one being more advanced than the other. Your best bet is to check out their website, just search for "Concept 2" and you should find it.

  • @VideoBeerReviews I've read the compaison on the site.

Main difference for a home user is that the PM4 has self recharging battery pack and twice as much internal memory .I guess with more memory you can wait longer before uploading to the PC if you like. You also get a HRM strap with the PM4. You need the Polar interface and a polar strap if you want HRM function with the PM3 Great Video BTW :-)

  • Will this burn fat at a rate wich is more or less as effective as running? I have somewhat of a breathing problem, and often get headaces from running, and i have been through heartsurgery. Now, after some time of lazyness, i want to get back in shape. Is this, along with weigh-workouts an effective way to burn away the unwanted belly?

  • @CobHatecrewNor I would say that the C2 can burn more calories than running because you're using both upper and lower body. It is definitely less harsh on the body because there is no pounding. A combination of weights and aerobic workouts can definitely help you lose weight. Diet is important as well. I wrote a book titled "Beyond The Twelve Ounce Curl" that talks about balancing good food/drink with good health. It's available on Amazon, check it out if you like. Cheers!

  • Your technique needs a little work. Fundamentally you're ok, but you need to make sure that you rock over and push your arms out straight before you break your knees on the recovery.

  • @AJC79 I filmed this just a couple of days after I got the C2 so my form was still very sloppy. In the last year I've gotten much better. I'm right at 700k meters lifetime. I don't use it much in the Spring/Summer but in the Winter I use it 2-4 days a week. It gives a fantastic workout, that's for sure!

  • Alright friend. I'm all set. Thanks a bunch for the info! I'll contact you through C2 forums soon! Cheers! God bless!

  • Hello friend. Thank you very much for the review.

I want to buy this but I'm worried about the noise since I'll be rowing in the morning and the neighbours might be sleeping. Is it too loud::

    Thanks!

  • @arthureloi The C2 isn't silent but it's not too loud. I'd compare it to having a large fan going. There's a constant "Whoosh, Whoosh" sound as the flywheel moves. If you have this right above or next to the neighbors it might be too loud. I wish I could be more help.

  • @VideoBeerReviews Well thank you very much for the info! It's been very helpful, really. I decided to buy it since I live in a house and thus I don't think the noise will disturb my neighbours that much.

Thank you for the support and congratulations for the awesome channel!

  • @arthureloi welcome to the club! You should really enjoy the C2. Be sure to check out the C2 forums and the Cencept 2 Online logbook that they maintain. You can affiliate yourself with a team and participate in a number of challenges throughout the year. I'm a member of team Timbuktoo. Check it out and let me know if you have any questions. Cheers!

  • @VideoBeerReviews Hey friend. As soon as I get my new C2 and learn the ropes I'll try and join Timbuktoo too =) Alas, I'm not much of a forum guy and thus the question: Is my PM4 + Row pro combo capable of logging and sending online my progress automatically? Cheers!

  • @arthureloi Yes, once you get rowpro setup it can automatically upload to C2's online logbook. You will need to go to the logbook and set your team affiliation as TimbukTOO. my Username is "markman" so look me up. Let me know if you have any questions. Cheers!

  • Can you burn more fat on this than running or biking I'm looking to buy one to do my cardio. Would you recommend it for burning fat???

  • @luiscasualty The C2 is a great workout. You use the entire body so calorie burning is pretty good. I burn about 600-700 calories an hour with this but my workouts are 45 minutes so I'm actually burning about 450-525 calories.

Burning calories all depends on how hard and for how long you workout. This is a great way to do it but I can ride my bike for several hours and burn more total calories if I want. I use both the bike and the C2. It's a great workout and easier on the body than running.

  • Still not having issues with the concept2? Have u been using it alot ? Im looking to get one

  • @yugiminouine No issues at all. I've started back up using it 3-4 days a week now that it's getting colder. I've got close to 500,000 meters on it and my wife has a couple hundred. It's a fantastic piece of equipment that should last a VERY long time. I'm happy with it.

  • Great review. Still on the fence. Worried about the noise. Can you hear a tv show while working out?

  • @usedbrick The C2 is a little noisy but not terrible. While using it there is a definite "whoosh...whoosh" sound from the fan that is probaly a the level of a loud conversation. I have to turn up the TV volume a bit to hear it but it's not terrible. Now, if you have neighbors right next to you, they might complain a bit if their sensitive to noise. It's a great piece of equipment and I recommend it if you can put up with a small amount of extra noise.

  • Thanks for your review. I appreciate it.

The recommended floor space is 9 x 4. You seem to operate in less. I would be forced to do the same.

    Your observations, please.

    Thanks in advance.

    Reg Gupton

  • @reggupton The space I have for the rower is just about 9 feet long. It is less than 4 feet wide at the back but it doesn't bother me as long as I don't stick my elbows out too far. I'm 6'1" and don't use all of the length available.

  • Great review. Very helpful. Many thanks.

  • @mmtcomm You're welcome. Thanks for watching and have fun with the C2!

  • Good review. Thanks.

  • @AntiMAGOTS2 Concept 2 machines seem to hold their value very well. I've seen 1-3 yr old machines going for $600-$800. Best bet is to check our your local Craigslist. You might also look at the Concept 2 website for any refurbs or at local rowing/health clubs to see if they might be selling any older machines.

  • I hope no one test rode my undies!

  • I will have to ask for forgiveness after buying this... There is no substitute and is the cornerstone for all CF workouts...

  • @CD88DT It is a great piece of exercise equipment although a little expensive. Have fun with it!

  • you need to keep your knees down before you bring your arms over

  • @xIReflexzZIx Yes, you are right. I recorded this after having the C2 for only a few days. My form wasn't that good but it has improved a lot since then. It is a great workout.

  • My school has about 30 of these they are great

  • @samiskool319 They definitely give a good workout. Thanks for watching!

  • Im glad to hear that you are doing better with your stroke, and you are doing good on youre lifetime distance as well. I personallu do not own an ergometer, but i use them daily at my rowing club. And no i do not use the c2 forums or rowpro. And just out of curiosity, what does youre workout consist of on the erg?

  • @OOTman00 I'm much more comfortable with the stroke now. I'm a road cyclist so I'm using the C2 for cross-training. Right now, I'm doing about 4 workouts a week on it. I entered the "Atlanta Erg Sprints" which is on Feb 12. It's a 2k race and that's what my training focus has been. Most of the workouts are intervals. I'm doing a lot of 500-1500m repeats. I also try to do 1 longer/easier workout of 10k or so each week.

  • Hey, great vid, but when you row, you need to sit up at the catch(beginning of stroke) and pull right in the middle of your chest to your belly button. Also make sure that you keep the level of the chain parrallel to the floor at all times. You should never have to go over your knees with the handle. ps. I am a rower, and have used these machines extensively.

  • @OOTman00 Glad you enjoyed the video. I've improved my stroke quite a bit since I shot this. video. I'd only had the C2 for a week at that point. I'm much closer to the way you describe it now. I still struggle with form when I'm tired but I'm getting better. I just passed 200k lifetime and am really enjoying it. Do you participate in the C2 forums or use Rowpro?

  • @VideoBeerReviews You say you struggle with form when tired, but that'll get better when you've rowed more. PS.: 200K lifetime isn't that much, it's about what I do in 3 weeks on the water

  • @Shibbeeh Yeah, once I got used to it I improved quite a bit. I don't row too much during the Summer months but will start back up w/rowing in the Fall.

  • Is this a good way of obtaining overall mass in your arms, say if you go intense and have fairly small arms, as in skinny.

  • @whitstable11 I don't kow if the C@ will add "mass" to your arms but I can tell you (being skinny myself) that it gives you a good upper body workout. My upper back, core and arms are noticeably more defined than they were 30 days ago. I've added a little to my upper arms and forearms as well. Combine this with some pushups and crunches and you have a good upper body workout program.

  • @Riff28Raff We really enjoy the rower. It is a great workout. I agree with you on the gym and the posers. I can get a better workout, more quickly than at the gym.

  • @thomass0729 I can burn a ton of calories on this thing, that's for sure! As for cutting out on you guys, I wish it was my agent (as if I actually had one) but it was just Comcast deciding not to work for a couple of hours.

Gary's a big boy, I think he'll get over it.

The book went to the printer today so I should have a proof to go over in a couple of weeks! If it looks good I expect it will be available for sale in mid January.

    See you next Tuesday.

  • great machine, i use it at the gym, and it provides a very nice warm up as well to get the blood flowing before any heavy weightlifting exercise.

  • @bdbdoria Yeah, it is a great piece of equipment. I'm really enjoying all the pain and suffering I can inflict on myself with it!

  • @JRKyorkshire666 They are a great way to get a good workout. The seat is a bit hard. I wear cycling shorts and they help quite a bit.

  • @Tommyrazzle I found a washer in the flywheel assembly. I removed it and now it is virtually silent!

  • @Tommyrazzle We love it so far. It's a great complement/alternative to the bike trainer. Gives a great workout as well. Are you on the Concept 2 site or forums? If so maybe we can talk rowing there if you want.

  • right on ^_^

I snowboard for my winter activity. I spend a lot of money doing it but its worth it to me. And lots of good beer at the lodges in the Pacific Northwest. Have you ever been a skier? Its great sport.

  • @Losvatoslocos I was a bigtime skier from 1980 to 1995 or so when we lived in Colorado. Since then we haven't been close to any decent skiing so we haven't done it. It is a great sport though.

  • sorry to tell you but your machine sounds faulty, there shouldn't be any of that grinding noise, its probably due to something stuck in the turbine, we have that problem quite a lot at the club i row at, and I'm not trying to annoy you i have been rowing for a number of years and i think you should call their customer service or look on some of the online forums although you could always take the turbine apart and take whatever is in there out.

    thanks, charlie.

  • @CanonPhotos I took your advice and "popped the top" on the flywheel and sure enough there was a small washer(must have come from when I was assembling it) that was flopping around in there. I removed it and now it is much more quiet! Are you on the C2 forums? My username is "markman".

    Thanks for the sugestion!

  • @VideoBeerReviews Sorry i'm afraid i'm not on the forums, just a question, have you ever rowed an actual rowing boat and if so how many men and where was it, sea or river?

    -charlie.

  • @CanonPhotos I have not done any on the water rowing. Well, other than doing some canoe trips when I was in the Boy Scouts, but that was more drifting down a river and steering to avoid the rocks. I would like to try rowing a boat on the river sometime though. We do have a boat club on a nearby river. Maybe I'll check with them once Spring comes around.

  • The ending effect was a perfect match to your "sick and twisted" comment.

I'm really thinking about giving this thing a try out at my gym. Thanks for the tips! And yes, I do the same thing, workout to drink more beer!

  • @Imasofat Yeah, I thought it was a good ending. How else can you describe the compulsion to voluntarily get your heart rate up into the red zone? I love it though and it is a fantastic way to burn calories, thus allowing more beer to be consumed!
