I got my heart, I aint afraid of the fall.

I got my duffel bag that daddy packed for me.

I got my ear so I hear when you call.

I don't need eyes just to see the good.

You always did, but they misunderstood.

  • @Superdanger2 my english isnt the best

i heard 'I don't need eyes just to see you look good', though

  • I'm goin' up and down

    And baby round and round.

I wanna touch you down the river below.

And then I'll kiss you from your head to your toe.

You take me so high up, and then you let me down.

    Africa! Africa! Africa!

    Solidarity!

    Africa! Africa! Africa!

    It's the joy of living.

  • T>I>A MY NIGGA

  • yeaah i like this song keep up k naan

en afrique ya pas ke la guerre en afrique ya pas ke la famine

ya la solidarite ahaa vive ma somalie ke j aime maaaaaaaaaax

  • absulutly right, africa solidarity,. this is a moving song.

  • T.I.A

    THIS IS AFRICA ahaa!

  • Saw them on Roskilde, and enjoyed it alot.

  • good positive french lyrics about unity, family, solidarity, good vibes but the english part has nothing to do with the message of the song. it brings it down.

  • I don't even know what the lyrics mean but it sure sounds that way! Disappointing.

  • the english part is about Africa, if anything its more relative to the song then the french lyrics, of coarse this is going by the title name "AFRICA" after all.

  • you obviously do not understand lyrics and also cannot spell it.

The American singer who was freestyling speaks of loving a woman up and down, from a head to her toes. It's all about sex. only the first line speaks of the cooperation east and west.

The French lyrics have nothing to do with sex. This American guy did not even bother asking these people, prior to performing, what the song was about + also Jimmy Falon did not seem to know that they were blind, by the way he approach them.

  • I'm sorry but are you a little dim? First of all if i spelled "lyrics" wrong then so did you, three times over. Africa is the birth place of humanity, so its been said, there for Africa may be called a she or can be refered to as a women. "I wanna travel every inch of your curves" "I got my ears i can hear when you call" Knaan is refering to Africa as a women, and he is saying Africa is beautiful. Maybe it's you who doesn't fully understand lyrics.

  • I think you're right: K'naan refers to Africa as a beautiful woman, which is a metaphor.

But I think that you've no right to call someone dim, when you too seem even a little dimmer. For example: misspelling the words 'therefore', 'woman', and the name 'Mariam'. Not to mention punctiation errors.

Ever hear the Roman proverb: 'He cannot be strict in judging who does not wish others to be strict judges of himself' ? I think it would fit nicely here.

  • K'naan is not American...lmao...He's Somali....

  • @babmousso

lol you did not understand the K'naan lyrics , he is talking about Africa not Sex lol

  • Is this performence ur talking on youyube? and not where can find the video of online? thax

  • @babmousso Did they teach you literature in school?...Africa on this song is being addressed as a she. So should we start addressing Africa as "He". Everything beautiful is associated with a woman. If you are gay, i don't know about that! I guess you see things different and maybe you alone will call Africa "HE"

  • @MzeeDala Hahahaha.

  • @fmoham01 hahaha yeah that fool didn't know u can call a country "she"...anyways this is great song! i was just listening to Nneka and ASA-jailer!...Africa has the most beautiful music

  • And have you heard the CD cause i own it and Knaan "the american freestyler" as you would call him is in the CD version aswell. So if you thought that Amadou and miriam only performed with Knaan in the jimmy falon performance your dead wrong, the lyrics were well thought on both ends

  • Saw them on Jimmy Fallon last night and was instantly mesmerized. Fabulous music!

  • hahaha

  • Lol.

  • Africa STAND UP ,,, dis is a hit

  • Not bad, I usually listen to metal, but this is nice.

  • This song is sooo good !!!!!!!!!! hope the best for Africa

  • o shit this song is sooo HoooOOOooT...

  • me too.. anyone here speak french???

  • ça balance !!

    Ils sont au top !

  • Malie + Somalia = Greatness!

  • I love Africa man

  • so creative

  • Amazing collaboration. I am digging this very much. Perhaps this can be the new anthem for Africa...who knows.

Is anyone caring enough to translate Amadou's verses?

  • im french and english.. well more french then english... VIVE LE QUÉBEC LIBRE!

  • so this mean you only shave one armpit

    :D

  • ? shave one armpit?! wow! never heard that before! just... shut up! :D

  • You made me laugh

  • well essentially the song is expressing the difficulties in Africa--which are many such as political unrest, lack of unity, poverty, racial tensions etc but Africa is bigger than it's problems, despite difficulties ppl still have hope and a pride bout them. There is a sense of optimism and beauty that this song projects.

  • the song says Africa : it's the joy of life, family: uncle, aunts, cousins, we all together, hot weather, good vibes. Africa it'.s not just war,

this song insits on the happiness of the mother land : unlike the other comment-translation: it is not defensive, it's completly positive

  • @babmousso

Dude, K'naan's lyrics were about africa as well......it wasn't about sex, he described Africa as a women(metaphor ) . I hope u get that! And by the way K'naan is from Africa not America.

  • @Xalimotologist lol yah. 1st verse: Oh my friends, we dont choose our destiny The days may seem alike,But they aint all the same The fingers on our hands arent all equal In this world we are all complementary (chorus) In africa it's insanly hot There's the sun and the human warmth There's the sun and joy to live There's the sun and were all together (chorus) In some countries there is snow In some countries it's insanly hot In some countries there are storms (FOLLOW UP!) lol
