Does anyone know if this concert is or will be put out on on DVD ??
one of the TOP POP Rock bands still!! it is rare to hear great melodies & vocals with super musicanship too! man they have such great tunes! i still have the LPs& found the later cds too!..
How about somebody uploading a descent studio copy of this song. This is a bad-ass song; the ending sounds like a Rush song. They've *got* to be the most obscure killer band in the history of rock, though! Not enough exposure. My band, Nouveau Riche, opened up for them in 1985 at Ziggy Mahonees in Augusta, GA. Nice guys. Nice memories.
they did such a good job on this this live---aint heard nobody else this good live----they showed they azzs--plus they made a two album live concert somewhere back east --tried to buy it--they sold out
I just saw the Producers at the 2009 American Music Festival in Virginia Beach (openning for the Romantics). Great show! Lots of energy and crowd excitement. Fantastic songs. Keep on rocking!
killer performance, the 2fer is some new wave par excellance. they wrote amazing songs, that were in the 80s, but were rock solid. great band. would love to see them live
Holy Crap, what a flashback... I luv these guys. I saw them in the early 80's in Hays Kansas and met all the guys. My friend's band The Heat backed them up.. I also saw them in Wichita. I wore out their two vinyl albums from playing them so much . Are they still playing??
Such an amazing band. Such great songs. Since 1983, every time I see or hear anything from these guys I'm blown away. They gave us so little yet great stuff. I wonder if they still play. We used to cover their songs a lot. My band recently got back together after 20 years to play a few shows and we did "She Sheila". You can see it here on You Tube. My band's name is Eruption.
The Producers, so overlooked.Great songwriting and great players as well.I'm sure they did get screwed by some corporate jerk wad.I don't know if the public or radio was ready for a band this progressive then.I was for sure.A musicians band for sure.
this was and is one of my all time favorite bands I live in SC and they played Columbia on a regular basis . I saw them every cahnce I got . I have everything they ever realeased and the two albums the didn't release.I'm not sure how to post the more unheard stuf from Run for your life and Coelacanths. But I will find out . Glad to see so many fans that realize they were one of the best power pop bands if not the best of all time
Love this! Isn't this the MTV new years bash? I have a VERY poor quality wmv file of this. Wish I had a decent copy of it, would love to transfer the audio to cd.
Besides Missing Persons, Go West, Level 42, etc., and a few others, most bands are lost to the 80's. These guys should have been famous! The ending on this song is brilliant!
You can thank their not becoming famous to ASSHOLE, Al Teller, who was a record exec who cut them from the CBS sub-label, Portrait, and then later, when they signed to MCA in the late '80's, Al Teller had become a record exec at MCA, too, and the DICKHEAD shelved their master tape. He INTENTIONALLY screwed them! I know this for a FACT! The Producers were SO talented and wrote such damned cool songs! F-ing Al Teller!
This has become my favorite Producers song. I saw them play 12-28-07 at the Howlin Wolf in New Orleans. Van was a little under the weather, however, it is always good to see the Producers live. The Producers Rock!!!
These guys wrote and performed the freshest most innovative pop songs of the early eighties. I was a big fan and my cover band also did a few of their tunes.. which always packed the dancefloor. They did 2 albums and about 1000 shows with Kyle Henderson. It baffles me that they never became HUGE with all the touring, MTV exposure, great material and awesome live performances.
My family had just bought there first VCR in 1982 and this concert is among my earliest recordings. I restored the audio in my home studio (this was original recorded pre-VHS HiFi) a few years ago. I will try to find it and post the whole thing here ASAP. They are among my favorite all time bands! It's a crime that they were not discovered by more fans of well crafted pop music.
Yep. Living here in the South, these guys had a great reputation, and because they were on MTV all the time we thought they were really going to break big, because they wrote incredible pop songs. I mainly listen to Hard Rock and Heavy Metal, but I LOVE well written Pop songs - and the only thing that I can attribute it to is listening to bands like The Producers and Cheap Trick when I was a young teenager.
GVike is right...incredible finish to this song! My cover band used to play She Sheila in nightclubs around the Midwest. We were probably the ONLY band that ever covered that song. Britney and Madonna continue to record yet fate ignores the Producers. Just goes to show you this country doesn't appreciate a great band when it's staring them in the face.
I'm sure we never did it justice, we didn't even have a keyboard player, but I sure loved to play it. Our drummer, in particular, loved to play it. Go figure. The harmonies on the chorus were always worth the wait.
If you like the producers - try to find Kyle Henderson's solo album "Songs In The Key Of Love". It was released back in Jan 2003. This band was got lost in the mix back in the 80's. Their music holds up today, great band!
u guys wont belie this..but i saw these cats in chattanooga in 2002 rhythm an brews...amazing..i got to hang out with Kyle..hes a lotus notes developer now. They were tight!
YES! I WAS WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO POST FOOTAGE OF THAT MTV BASH!! Awesome, I clearly remember watching this back in the day! And this song, such a butt-kicking finish to it.

It's a shame they didn't.
