I can't be 100% sure, but based on the context of the video I'd say it was footage of the aftermath of the My Lai Massacre during the Vietnam Conflict. Hope this helps.
there was so many illuminati subliminal messages in this game. i just saw another one in the anti augmintation ending. At the very end of it, you saw the all seeing eye and then the people who are supposed to lead us/protect us closing the door on us O.o it was rlly metaphorical
These endings was why I enjoyed Deus Ex. It actually tackled philosophical questions... Perfect remedy after the retarded, nonsense mindfuck that was Saints Row the Third.
I chose suicide. Just thinking through my life, I've experienced the 2004 tsunami first-hand, as well as Cyclone Nagris and 3 powerful earthquakes. I've served in the army and seen combat twice. I feel the Darrow option is the best because its the perfect median. First of all nothing is twisted its just the straight truth, limits are obviously going to be put on augmentations after the public finds out what happened but at the same time the Illuminati are revealed and lose their "in the shadows" grip on mankind through augmentation. It also connects well with the first deus ex because there are regulations and the Illuminati are weak.

@Tronnixx Your comments seem to get deleted a lot but...you said we should we evolve by natural means; so i ask you: What is natural? Nothing in this world is alien, if it was not made my nature, it was made by us. Our bodies are a swarm of cells that are constantly changing and adapting, and we're making tools to help adapt for what our bodies seem too slow to do.
It is in our nature to rise above what we used to be. So the way i see it...we ARE evolving by natural means.
i picked starif's ending because i believe that the future of man kind is in the technology we create, i believe that we're in this universe for something great... the only thing i dislike about this way of life is the fact that we're destroying the thing that sustains our lives like parasites, and that thing is our planet.
first time playing this game i chose the suicide option. and it seemed it did good as jensen reflects as to how he held back from using the power he had with his augments. i only used the health, armor, icarus, energy and hack augments to their fullest. used some arm augs and eye augs. no typhoon. stealthy as much as possible.
"But I do know I'm not about to let anyone in this station,INCLUDING MYSELF,stand in their way",the caps locked alphabets suppose to be written: myself including
Darrow's Ending makes no sense though; we humans can not stay primitive for long, the cycle is inevitable, we will always begin to use technology and science. This is simply because we human beings are reflectors, we are inspired by things in our surroundings and that feeds our creativity and with "creativity" we use the things that inspire us and put them together and then we have come up with an idea. Like the wheel, that we got from rolling logs.
@MoneyIsuseless You know, even if we are a very advance technological civilization. We can be destroyed or get exctinct a lot quicker if we can't handle it.We might as well stop advancing or regress.
@Tronnixx That's the point, we can't stop advancing, but what we can do is to begin to use it more wisely. We need to start thinking and learn how to be civilized, as long as we depend on money and keep on with our capitalistic mindsets, we will never change.
We need to be thinkers and loose on our deep indoctrination and make sure everyone get access to relevant education and the necessities of life, because thats what we all humans have in common, the same need and main goals. Live together.
@Tronnixx And not think in terms of weapons and destructions as technological advancements, because that represents only a high degree of stupidity and moral conflict.
Taggart's Ending : Congratz you gave the illuminati the time to prepare their mind-control technology, dooming the very idea of freedom.
Sarif's Ending : Sarif, the only good guy who realy care for everyone in Deus Ex's World, Capitalism being what it is, the illuminati have enough power to take control, but Sarif will try.
Darrow's Ending : You took away our best chance at technological progress to deny the possibility of miss-use.
Suicide : You've changed nothing and hope for the best.
1.) Darrow - People "need" to hear the truth. Fear of the Unknown will only make us break faster...Though Darrow's actions could not be undone - at least the people w/ill know the truth.
2.) Suicide - Let the people try to learn for themselves. Humans are ignorant, uncaring, pieces of shit but this might work.
3.) David - Not halting technology, but giving out free power.
@LeVaughnX Suicide; makes no sense though; we humans can not stay primitive for long, the cycle is inevitable, we will always begin to use technology and science. This is simply because we human beings are reflectors, we are inspired by things in our surroundings and that feeds our creativity and with "creativity" we use the things that inspire us and put them together and then we have come up with an idea. Like the wheel, that we got from rolling logs.
@corbenwaarwasje It has an effect on the way events turn out; this may be for or against your advantage. For example, kill Belltower operatives in high profile, and the city will be put on high alert. Spare someone, and he might help you out in the future, or even continue his plans against you.
It has an effect on the storyline for the duration that you play, but the endings are unaffected by it. All except Darrows ending, which cant activated until you convince him.
After beating this game, I haven't quite thought about life and humanity in the same way. That's what square knix is good at, making you think in ways you usually wouldn't.
@gale1243 the suicide one always seemed in line with Adam's true character. yeah you can make him what you want but the things you don't control he tends to try to save as many people as he can.
funny how human augmentation is similar to genetically modifying crops....same situation and same choices...go organic, set limits on agrochemical and GE corps, let the corp lose and ravage the land and farmers. Quite symbolic don't you think?
Love Deus Ex but the ending of this game was the worst part.
"Press one of these 3 buttons to win the game. BUT WAIT! Or you can go down this nice little hall down the left and press another button that KILLS EVERYONE!"
Both Sarif's and Taggart's endings are unnecessary and unethical (also the explosion). The best ending is the one where mankind embraces nature and removes itself from progression of technology. Nature has brought peace and has enabled us to exists for thousands of years..why change something not broken..why try and be god when god created humans because we are what god aspires to be as well..
Oh, and this game (the series in general) speaks about the Illuminati and Knights Templar, reminds me of the Assassin's Creed series too. Love both of them.
I feel all the endings are reasonable to me. The message is really there, in each of them. Whatever you choose, it makes you think and re-think about the current situation we're facing. Personally, I love combination of Sarif's and Taggart's ideas. I mean, you can go for sky high but you have to know the limits to prevent abuse. This game is truly deep with meanings. It's awesome!! :D
I just finished the game and didn't have the option of the pro-aug ending. What did I do wrong? Was it because I didn't find that guy who was asking for help near the end?
I didn't realise I had missed it until it said failed when I went down the lift platform to the ending.
@w0bbl3r I know exactly what you mean, I only completed it yesterday (Dispite staying up for hours on end lol) I didnt get the far right ending (Haggard). I couldnt find that guy on the radio signal asking for help, and instead found sarif by accident lol.
i let humanity decide in order to safeguard humanity's free will. This is a beautiful game. The fact that the developers gave you control of how the game will end made it stand out. They did their job grate.
Only two games have made me feel emotion. MGS4, when you feel awful for the aging Snake and when some characters die, and this game, due to the sheer power of the endings. I didn't like how you picked each one individually, but all the endings are great.
The best ending of all "Sarif's message", makes sense from where we are standing today, this is similar to where we are heading today, we have to choose what we really want. This choice could mean that we begin to use technology intelligently for the benefit of all and to maintain the environment and help everyone to get access to the necessities of life rather than destroying the world and ourselves. Stop relying on fairytales or a few to tell us what to do and what to think. We are all "gods"
@MoneyIsuseless To tell, the truth, its what i want too; but i cant shrug the fact, that if everyone had access to highest level of technology, including military technology, it would be abused by people who currently has access to more power by having more money; they would think themselves higher than other people. That act of inequality is something i couldnt ignore. I think it needs to be regulated, maybe only in medical purposes.
In my opinion, Darrow's was the best. Humanity can and may very well have to think on their own, but wouldn't it only be fair for them to know the truth?
@Tsunaphoenix3 The result of truth is unpredictible. Humanity can, and has done so since its birth, think on its own, but its process can be slowed by emotions such as anger and fear. Telling Darrow's story would put fear in people's hearts and put them off augmented technology.
That sort of technology could save millions of lives, and every minute that a discovery is not made, people can die. Do you really want to slow that by giving people the truth?
@Desh681 (Cont)Part 2 Sarif:We were never made to go against god.But I understand that he cares about humanity. But what if we become 99% robotic.I don't see any humanity to that since the only thing is left is your brain.
Suicide:You change nothing and made it worse for humanity, because how can you make the people decide if they don't know any of the important information.
Darrow:Knowing the truth will not only bring peace but humans will survive Let the people evolve naturally.
@Desh681 Also even if we got a great augmentation were still not going to last forever. Why do you think dinosaur, other early animals and other primitive humans last long and they have no technology.
can't wait for a sequel, the depth totally wins over the lack of a wide world to explore, i love skyrim but it has no depth and no meaningful plot, and depth compensates a gigantic world were we are doing the same things.
@joaoluizsn There already is a sequel. This game is the prequel to the original game - Deus Ex.
Having played the original when I was much younger, I felt shivers going down my spine when seeing the events of Human Revolution, and how no matter what ending I chose, part of that ending actually happened. (There isn't a 100% canon ending. There are bits of each ending in the original.)
I know there's been another games, i've already beaten all of then, it's just annoying to have to say, "hey, there should be a sequel you know, just loved this game, but you know, a sequel to this game i just played and not a sequel to games released a decade ago"
Ok im gonna piss on everyones bonfire and say that i was so disapointed with the ending of this game, and to see almost the same images 4 times was to much it was not what i expected from the end of such a wonderful game.
@uadfa actually i don't agree with you ending wasn't bad only i think it was too similar to the original deus ex ending but if i hadn't played it i wouldn't have problem with this ending
Eliza says the fourth option is to self destruct Panchea and don't tell anything to the the world, but couldn't Jensen just have disabled the signal and not send a message at all?
@Srky6P I like Human Revolution more, but I also like Crysis. I have to admit, Crysis does the first-person shooter elements better than Human Revolution. For one, Human Revolution's gunplay was weak and ammo was too sparse. It's the main reason I almost always play it as a stealth game.
This is more than a video game, its life itself, it has so many things in it, this is what makes me love video games, able to bring you so many emotions, so many truths, so many answers and questions
The "let mankind choose" option doesn't really make sense. The withhold of important information isn't a choice. What are people supposed to choose from when they don't even know anything. The only possible outcome from that is that corporations will take advantage of the ignorant public and history will repeat itself. Knowledge is power.
@Erverino by not knowing what happend and david sarif tai young medical hugh darrow and bill taggort all on that one place no one would be able to spin the story no one would be able to take advantage of them people would have to come up were there own reason to why things happend the way they did and progress them selfs
@dragon012652 Why would you want people to come up with their own reasons for what happened? How do you know that the stories they imagine will be better than reality? In addition to that, how will the lack of information stop corporate spin? The lack of information is what allows spin, not the presence of it. When people don't knoe anything then corporations and governments are free to invent the truth. None of this makes any sense at all.
@Erverino but thats the thing the people know that david sarif tai young bill taggort and hugh darrow were the only ones with the story cause they were the ones fighting the war about augs there was no other goverment included and every one will all ways to think what happend like people will wonder why the new bio chips went crazy and every one will be expecting a answer from one of thos 4 people
@Erverino sorry its a habit i cant explain things right long story short there is no other government that can twist the story like the computer chick said she controls all the media and she will make people hear and see what u chose so if u chose to let the people decide what happend thats what will happen no goverment will be able to spin the story cause there will be no story to spin
@dragon012652 Okay I understand what you're saying now, but it doesn't make any sense in the context of what actually happened. What does spin have to do with anything?
@Erverino the let mankind pick ending you kill your self and every one on the island that way the truth will never leave you leave it up to man kind to decide what happend and what will happen next
@BornGodofWar there will never be such a thing as a single agreement. even if its just wanting a different breakfast or something as insignificant as that there will never be just 1 right way. the only way to make something like that happen would be to completely take away free will, that is what makes people go to war, argue, love, hate. its what makes humanity choose what they want and go against what others want take away free will and we will have ever lasting peace, at the cost of humanity.
All of these endings seem positive in their own sense, they have theory own pros and cons, it just depends on how they c it, but either way it's basically the said that humans were able to survive throughout the earth's existence..choosing one of the ways..if one were to do that, all humanity must give all they got or else look forward to extinction..
Either way, humanity will be doomed cuz it will only take one person per genration to start what humanity doesn't need. But we should be hand in hand and decide whats best for all people. If we do try to do human augmentation, then have we solved all problems or have we just futhered humanitys doom for near exstinction? We must let the men and women choose for its their future, not one man should choose for all others. America, britan, germany, russia, all other countries will never learn the r
@ctmkcook ok, let them choose, that won't solve nothing. that will lead to more arguments unsolved, and questions left unanswered. right no, we are at that point of which you speak, balance of which humanity can decide, but has anything happened? No. We can never rely on humanity to make decisions, because we'll never come to a solution, a single agreement.
i've beaten the game four times, and there's something different.Like those panchea messages,at the end of every message it said"i see it,mommy"but now after the fourth time i was beating it, at the end of the message it said"hello, father"and the ending was different(i choose the truth),he said different things. If someone is also crazy as me to beat it four times, can somebody please tell me that they saw it too and heard it too.
the ending was truely epic...lifes choices are not always morally black or white...and the climax manages to capture that in a sense..nevertheless i chose to expose the truth..the world and society may be driven by power or knowledge or even the illuminati..but the whole truth is absolute..and no one can deny it...let alone in a game..
I'm glad the issues focused on in this game are becoming (somewhat) more mainstream. It's something more people need to be giving serious thought to--it's not merely a fantasy based game and the ideas presented shouldn't be so foreign to anyone. The near future of AI and robotics has been speculated from as far back as Marx, and now harbingers like Kurzweil and Al-Rodhan are outlining the choices we'll have to make. We must prepare for the coming paradigm shift.
I would never let humanity choose, they would never come to a solution, if it's one thing I've learned, every human always wants something in return, so you can see where I'm going with this. And humans becoming gods is stupid, when we do, we'll still have the mind of humans, meaning, same shit when we weren't gods, still the seven deadly sins. And the third one, I would never leave humanity to the Illuminati. So I chose Darrow's ending, the truth. And it's to bad if some can't accept it.
@Blarnay ego, no, logic. lets say suicide, there goes another shit load of years of war, arguing, suffering. in other words, nothing would change. darrow's message was one step closer to changing the world. everything he knew, everything he said was pure logic. that is the path every human must take to create world peace. ignore our feelings, allow reasoning to create world peace. only then, only then.
@Blarnay I don't see how he's overinflated, or indeed delusional. He is saying that in order to become better, we first need to become logical and break the cycle of violence and suffering. Our thousands of years of history has proven that, whilst charitable and moral in small bursts, overall we revel in cruelty and inequality. If anything, it takes less of an ego to realise that humans are incapable as a whole to wield power without abuse.
This game is Beautiful. Its complex, deep, and so full of moral. And the questions they ask are very meaningful. Are we the ones to make the path to the future for Human Civilization? Will we let powerful leaders take course and let them judge our way to a better future? Will we let Technology become our savior? Or will we let technology, to take over our way of life? Or will we fight for our way to make a better future for ourselves, even if that means hatred and pain along our Journey? Choose.
such amazing endings.

i picked starif's ending because i believe that the future of man kind is in the technology we create, i believe that we're in this universe for something great... the only thing i dislike about this way of life is the fact that we're destroying the thing that sustains our lives like parasites, and that thing is our planet.

first time playing this game i chose the suicide option. and it seemed it did good as jensen reflects as to how he held back from using the power he had with his augments. i only used the health, armor, icarus, energy and hack augments to their fullest. used some arm augs and eye augs. no typhoon. stealthy as much as possible.

Therefore, we can't ignore development :)

@MoneyIsuseless You know, even if we are a very advance technological civilization. We can be destroyed or get exctinct a lot quicker if we can't handle it.We might as well stop advancing or regress.
Tronnixx 2 weeks ago
@Tronnixx That's the point, we can't stop advancing, but what we can do is to begin to use it more wisely. We need to start thinking and learn how to be civilized, as long as we depend on money and keep on with our capitalistic mindsets, we will never change.
We need to be thinkers and loose on our deep indoctrination and make sure everyone get access to relevant education and the necessities of life, because thats what we all humans have in common, the same need and main goals. Live together.
MoneyIsuseless 2 weeks ago
@Tronnixx And not think in terms of weapons and destructions as technological advancements, because that represents only a high degree of stupidity and moral conflict.
MoneyIsuseless 2 weeks ago
Taggart's Ending : Congratz you gave the illuminati the time to prepare their mind-control technology, dooming the very idea of freedom.
Sarif's Ending : Sarif, the only good guy who realy care for everyone in Deus Ex's World, Capitalism being what it is, the illuminati have enough power to take control, but Sarif will try.
Darrow's Ending : You took away our best chance at technological progress to deny the possibility of miss-use.
Suicide : You've changed nothing and hope for the best.

"Best" choices from the top down are easily...
4.) Faggart - Giving a baby a gun is wrong.

I thought that every choice that you made would have an effect. But when I was finished I could just choose the ending!?
corbenwaarwasje 3 weeks ago
@corbenwaarwasje It has an effect on the way events turn out; this may be for or against your advantage. For example, kill Belltower operatives in high profile, and the city will be put on high alert. Spare someone, and he might help you out in the future, or even continue his plans against you.
It has an effect on the storyline for the duration that you play, but the endings are unaffected by it. All except Darrows ending, which cant activated until you convince him.

MoneyIsuseless 1 month ago
@MoneyIsuseless To tell, the truth, its what i want too; but i cant shrug the fact, that if everyone had access to highest level of technology, including military technology, it would be abused by people who currently has access to more power by having more money; they would think themselves higher than other people. That act of inequality is something i couldnt ignore. I think it needs to be regulated, maybe only in medical purposes.

In my opinion, Darrow's was the best. Humanity can and may very well have to think on their own, but wouldn't it only be fair for them to know the truth?
Tsunaphoenix3 1 month ago
@Tsunaphoenix3 i agree, let them know the truth, no more shrouded in darkness and lies.
shimmeringbloodfeast 1 month ago
@Tsunaphoenix3 The result of truth is unpredictible. Humanity can, and has done so since its birth, think on its own, but its process can be slowed by emotions such as anger and fear. Telling Darrow's story would put fear in people's hearts and put them off augmented technology.
That sort of technology could save millions of lives, and every minute that a discovery is not made, people can die. Do you really want to slow that by giving people the truth?

This was the best game of 2011,
can't wait for a sequel, the depth totally wins over the lack of a wide world to explore, i love skyrim but it has no depth and no meaningful plot, and depth compensates a gigantic world were we are doing the same things.
joaoluizsn 1 month ago
@joaoluizsn There already is a sequel. This game is the prequel to the original game - Deus Ex.
Having played the original when I was much younger, I felt shivers going down my spine when seeing the events of Human Revolution, and how no matter what ending I chose, part of that ending actually happened. (There isn't a 100% canon ending. There are bits of each ending in the original.)

The "let mankind choose" option doesn't really make sense. The withhold of important information isn't a choice. What are people supposed to choose from when they don't even know anything. The only possible outcome from that is that corporations will take advantage of the ignorant public and history will repeat itself. Knowledge is power.
Erverino 1 month ago
@Erverino by not knowing what happend and david sarif tai young medical hugh darrow and bill taggort all on that one place no one would be able to spin the story no one would be able to take advantage of them people would have to come up were there own reason to why things happend the way they did and progress them selfs
dragon012652 1 month ago
@dragon012652 Why would you want people to come up with their own reasons for what happened? How do you know that the stories they imagine will be better than reality? In addition to that, how will the lack of information stop corporate spin? The lack of information is what allows spin, not the presence of it. When people don't knoe anything then corporations and governments are free to invent the truth. None of this makes any sense at all.
Erverino 4 weeks ago
@Erverino but thats the thing the people know that david sarif tai young bill taggort and hugh darrow were the only ones with the story cause they were the ones fighting the war about augs there was no other goverment included and every one will all ways to think what happend like people will wonder why the new bio chips went crazy and every one will be expecting a answer from one of thos 4 people

@ctmkcook ok, let them choose, that won't solve nothing. that will lead to more arguments unsolved, and questions left unanswered. right no, we are at that point of which you speak, balance of which humanity can decide, but has anything happened? nothingharshsir 1 month ago
We must prepare for the coming paradigm shift.
zippy93able 1 month ago
I would never let humanity choose, they would never come to a solution, if it's one thing I've learned, every human always wants something in return, so you can see where I'm going with this. And humans becoming gods is stupid, when we do, we'll still have the mind of humans, meaning, same shit when we weren't gods, still the seven deadly sins. And the third one, I would never leave humanity to the Illuminati. So I chose Darrow's ending, the truth. And it's to bad if some can't accept it.
BornGodofWar 1 month ago
@BornGodofWar Why do you get to choose for humanity? Aren't you apart of it? Or has your over-inflated ego gotten the best of you?
Blarnay 1 month ago
@Blarnay ego, no, logic. lets say suicide, there goes another shit load of years of war, arguing, suffering. in other words, nothing would change. darrow's message was one step closer to changing the world. everything he knew, everything he said was pure logic. that is the path every human must take to create world peace. ignore our feelings, allow reasoning to create world peace. only then, only then.
BornGodofWar 1 month ago
@BornGodofWar You're delusional.
Blarnay 1 month ago
@Blarnay I don't see how he's overinflated, or indeed delusional. He is saying that in order to become better, we first need to become logical and break the cycle of violence and suffering. Our thousands of years of history has proven that, whilst charitable and moral in small bursts, overall we revel in cruelty and inequality. If anything, it takes less of an ego to realise that humans are incapable as a whole to wield power without abuse.
LeClassics 1 month ago
This game is Beautiful. Its complex, deep, and so full of moral. And the questions they ask are very meaningful. Are we the ones to make the path to the future for Human Civilization? Will we let powerful leaders take course and let them judge our way to a better future? Will we let Technology become our savior? Or will we let technology, to take over our way of life? Or will we fight for our way to make a better future for ourselves, even if that means hatred and pain along our Journey? Choose.
