Hi, can you help me? When I use Media Encoder, it adds unwanted black borders at top and bottom. I already added them to left and right, but it adds them anyway, and my videos have all 4 borders.

The tutorial's video quality is crap. Windows Media is crap, why are people still using outdated stuff like that? It doesn't make any sense, real encoders use Avidemux, it's cross-platform and much better. Or VirtualDubMod. And you always have quality-loss whatever codec you use.

Only catch is that while downloading Micro$oft does a 'Genuine Windows' check. This is not a very ideal way to allow people to download a free tool....in my humble opinion.

the 'Genuine Windows' is checking to make sure your not using a fake key for the windows OS. if you have a fake key thats telling them that you have a pirated windows OS.

My last vid was full of pixs...bad! I am using Win.Mov.Maker - downloaded WME. Followed your directions BUT....have ???. When I browse for my film in WME do use the published file of the raw file. I chose published file. When I hit apply after doing settings I get this: "The archive file has the same name as the input file. Change one of the names before continuing." I've no idea what this means. I am new to all this. Please advise in SIMPLE terms. Much thanks in advance!

When I convert movie files, WME keeps putting the beginning 20 to 30 minutes at the end of the file and the beginning starts with the correct audio but the video has been shifted.

Has this ever happened to anyone? Any suggestions?

This tutorial is great! Your step by step directions were a big help. However for those out there who want to use this to encode videos to upload to YouTube in very high quality, keep the same video size, and bit rate as your imported your .avi video clips in the Compression section. they need to allow u to kick off a client from ur stream (albeit video or audio). I use it for djing a live stream to people (with a hostname.. forget ip addies) and it would be nice if u could right click on a clients ip address and click kick or ban or something.

windows media encoder:

Video: 640x480 CBR

Bitrate: 4000kbps

Motion smoothness: 100

Complexity: complex

Audio 98kbps CBR stereo

Do you know how i can measure what the file size is going to be before it finishes encoding. because i want it to be as close to 100mb to get best quality .
