I always crinch, upon hearing how Asian zoo "professionals" treat animals: exactly like Western zoos did in the 1930s. And while the Germans, for example, are considered elephant & tiger experts, having no such native animals of their own, Lao, Thais, Cambodians, Chinese, Indians, & Burmese still chain & beat the crap out of their elephants, as "training" methods. And keeping 4 tiny, week-old tigers in separate steele cages, to keep them white, for the cameras? What barbarians!

There has never been a colony of white tigers found anywhere on this earth. Individuals have been found but never a colony. White tigers aren't a subspecies of tigers. They have been inbred from one tiger. It's awful what humans can do to a species.

Tigers are no different then any other animals.

Just do a simple search on google for genetics to get you started. Once you have your head around that look up leucism or leucistic which is the actual genetic condition that causes them to be white.

They dont need to be inbred or anything like that. not that im saying that never happens, ofcourse there are bad people out there. But the fact is it doesnt need to be and doesnt happen all the time.

Laugh all you want. The last white tiger in the wild was in 1958 in Bihar India and it was shot, all the rest have curiously shown up in zoo's? So yes it is possible but according to the most up to date science it is about 10000 to 1 ratio which is 99.999% not going to happen.

"the last white tiger in the wild" means nothing. Albino/luecistic animals are always weaker and more disadvantaged then there normal relatives. There could of been heaps of white tigers born since then that have died before being seen.

And again your showing you have no clue of genetics. A few tigers EVER with the white gene is all that is needed to keep the gene going indefinetly.

As i said before i agreeing inbreeding does happen, but it most def doesnt need to happen and i would bet doesnt happen even close to as much as you think.

Example, take a complete white gened tiger, breed with completely unrelated normal orange tiger, you will get roughly 50% white babies, breed one of those white babies with another completely orange unrelated tiger and you should get 25% white babies. There is 0 need for inbreeding.

I have never stated there needs to be inbreeding. But what needs to be understood is that the last one shot in the wild was the last one seen in the wild in 1958 and the ones existing today are decendants from inbred ones and yes those inbred ones may have bred with normal orange tigers and had white cubs but all the ones we see today come from the line started by inbreeding.

White tigers don't exist in the wild. It's simply a genetic defect. Their only found in captivity because all white tigers descend from 1 white tiger. White tigers can't survive in the wild. Their prey could see them coming a mile away because of their poor camouflage. White tigers would starve in the wild, among other things, because white tigers are generally very unhealthy and have an assortment of health problems because of inbreeding.

I don't know the breeding plans of this particular zoo, so I can't say for certain whether they are inbreeding their tigers or not. However, the fact that the general public can handle them is completely irresponsible! These people haven't the foggiest idea of how to porperly handle exotic animals! Not sure if the zoo is purposefully inbreeding the tigers to create more white tigers but this video absolutely disgusts me how they just use the cubs so blatantly in photographs with people as if they were trophies. The cubs are cute but not trophies or puppies. If the mother accepts them, let her raise them-leave them alone. If she doesn't, the cubs still shouldn't be treated like a trophy to be posed with and held so precariously by inexperienced and inept people.

White tigers shouldn't be bred. They are not found in the wild, and are produced through rampant inbreeding, which causes severe birth defects. 8 in 10 white tiger cubs die from such birth defects. For every white tiger you see in captivity, about 30 were killed or discarded because they weren't "pretty" enough due to their deformities from the necessary inbreeding... please don't support this cruelty... That white tiger would never have survived cubhood. Found in 1951 as a cub, he was taken from teh wild, his mother and other cubs killed. The mother may have killed him anyways, as she would know the white coat wouldn't be good for their environment.

Approximately 1 in 10,000 wild bengal tiger births will result in a white tiger. None have been recorded to survive. Many times, sunlight hitting a tiger can make it appear white from a distance. And if one were to survive in the wild, is there any way to justify breeding them in captivity, when they arent truly a subspecies and none have ever been recorded to have survived to adulthood? Besides that, the gene is double recessive, and inbreeding is necessary to make it come out
