NAFTA is clearly a good idea in concept. Entice your neighbors to buy from you instead of abroad. Its implication obviously leaves something to be desired either due to mistakes or greed.
4:24 say it all. Look at our country now. He wasn't far off the mark yet no one wants to discuss the national security implications of all the outsourcing. Capitalism at all costs these days... sound like treason to me. Unfortunately, our society seemingly doesn't care and wonders and is angered why life has become harder. I'm glad I voted for Ross back when I had a chance.
The reason several manufacturing industries have been devastated in the past 17 years is because of the associated unions lobbying for protectionist trade policies and pushing against productivity innovations. That combined with corporate level compensation packages that encourage short term gains over the long term health of companies is what's really destroying american manufacturing.
What's this 6 months give notice and get out of NAFTA clause Gore's going on about? More wool over the eyes of the American voter to con us is what that was/is.
this should be shown in schools.not the al gore liamentry on global warming.I watch this back in 93.i agree gore was a better speaker.he is a polishished politicain. n honest bussinessman like perot was no match in a debate.but look whats happened since then. there is a empty huffy bicycle shop in our town. jobs went to mexico.i know a women who lost her job but before that was paid to go to mexico to trian them.she said they made so little they couldnt afford to buy a soda in the break room
I've always heard the Perot was a rather sharp fellow who made good points. But watching this, it clear that he's just a foolish agitator who mis-cites facts.
A foolish agitator? Did you even watch this debate, and where have you been the last 17 years? Our manufacturing industry has been devastated since the passage of NAFTA as the country has had an increasingly ludicrous trade deficit. Gore focused mostly on personal attacks and cherry picked examples while Perot focused more on the overall big picture. Due to the benefit of hindsight, its quite clear that Perot was on the right side of this argument, at least from an average American viewpoint.
Not so. Our trade deficit has to do with the difference between our national savings and investment, and NAFTA has had relatively little effect on our economy at large. Manufacturing jobs have disappeared because of technology, not Mexicans.
People say that this debate ended perot's political future. I guess people want to hear talking points and personal attacks instead of the truth

Al looks so young and fresh in this vid. Today he looks old and evil.. He looks like the man in "the picture of Dorian Gray" but in reverse.

Al Gore from 1993 at the 4:58 point in this video: "We want jobs for America's working men and women."
17 years later, we STILL want jobs, Al. Dipshit.

Perot was clearly ahead of his time. Wonder what things would have been like had he become president.

@slow8202 Shouldn't you also say, "Thank you, George W. Bush, for having 8 years to overturn NAFTA and choosing not to do so"?

What happened to Al Gore since then? He became all bloated. And made himself a millionaire and soon billionaire by global warming deals.

The global warming scam passed by Congress. Goldman Sachs is in the middle of it, as usual a potential trillion dollar sure thing.
And Former Vice President Al Gore who will profit from the cap-and-trade plan through his company, Generation Investment Management,
Gore is joined by three former Goldman Sachs heads in their carbon offsets business.
