I am on track to follow your experiences in reverse order. flying model aviation since childhood and Sky diving for years, kite boarding/traction kiteing for one and now trying to get into powered and un-powered paragliding. I have been sewing my own basic kites and have been toying around with the idea of making my own glider. Pointers or ideas? your videos are inspiring me to find a pattern and go for it. It is satisfying to be called crazy!
Yeh, a 2m on a windy day...zoom! But after a few tries out West with my snowboard and the 3.6m, I think i would prefer a larger kite in light winds, which tend to be steadier. A four liner can be trimmed to vary its force for different wind speeds, making it more versatile, but a 9 is a little overkill on skates (:
BTW: My 'addiction' sucked me into flying RC planes, Cherokee 140s, Schweitzer sail planes, hang gliders and skydiving. [plus model hot air balloons and (very) ameteur rockets]
Spose the size depends on the wind? Rob Campbell (Saint John) let me use his 2m² one windy day and it can rip a fat guy across snow covered ice on skiis no problem. Rob has Peter Lynn stuff and maybe others.
Nice clip Don, didn't know your air addiction was beyong paragliders...but what can a guy do when the wind is nill?
wish I had a 9m (for snow kiting) but for kite skating my 3.6m does all right. (the wind averaged about 15 kph) A 5m would be perfect for a little more traction at the edge of the window. A four line 9m would be fine in lighter conditions, but boy, can you ever fly on ice with nearly zero friction! The world record for ice boats is 143 mph set in the thirties....any takers? (:
Thanks for your comment on my question so quikly, tomorrow I'm trying to kite with some homemade stuff and my 9m2 on a lake in the Netherlands! Where do you practise Kite skating? USA? Canada? (sorry for my moderate English..)

E man! Realy nice movie;) Which size kite do you use for "kite skating"? I've got a 9 m2 for kitesurfing but can I use it for kite skating?
Already thanks!
