  • Angels fucking wept for hearing this

  • @RedJester13 hey now is it really necessary to drop the F bomb

  • Ferrel and Reillys version had a louder and more invovled orchestra backing to help thier cause.Bowie and Bing have the better voices. I did bust a gut laughing @ the end of the comics version though.

  • Is it just me and with no insukt ment to these two wonderful men. Did will Ferrel and John Reilly's version sound just as good if not better?

  • @numba1spartan You seriously can't tell the difference of quality between the singing of Bing Crosby & David Bowie - who are legends and that of the drunken, soulless, auto-tuned bleating of Will Ferrel & John Reilly???

  • @grski88 Well your a poo head.

  • Talent Overload!!

  • Wow - my brother just told me to check this out - talk about something beautiful to the ears and cool to watch - for every generation...then and now...and in the future. Ruth

  • When did they film this?

  • @TheSickness14 September 1977 a month before Crosby died

  • Justin bieber ruined this song...

  • Awesome duet. That ol Bing was truly debonair.

  • They don't make them like Bing anymore.

  • CLASSIC SONG & VIDEO:)

  • "I'm David Bowie, I live down the road." I think my head would explode out of the sheer awesomeness of that situation.

  • Will ferell and john c. Reily r better

  • Not as good as the original Will Ferrell one :/

  • i shoved 4 fingers up my bum ba bum bum bum bum

  • I saw this on Palladia Christmas day and I was the happiest person ever

  • @TomLandryHwy his father gave it to him before he died

  • now i know where this song came from

  • THIS VIDEO HAAS DISLIKES :O

  • Actually, if you watch closely, you will see the animosity between them. Bing wanted something traditional and Bowie wanted to show his range. A lot of jabs made, and they were going to prevent its release, but Bing died just before, so it was allowed on air

  • This feels like the opening scene to a porno

  • @jrgorilla1 aaaaaaaaarrrrrgghhhh how dare you!!!! I LOVE David Bowie!!!! He wouldn't do it with an older guy. He said he only likes beautiful people.

  • 3:33 "I pray my biitchh.." lol

  • surprised harry nilsson got a reference, he usually blows right over everybodys head

  • Why is Bowie so perfect? Lovely song. I'll keep it... I think I'm going to watch this every year.

  • @SaraSnowings Because Bowie is a musical geinus.

  • Bing Crosby and the Sovereign of the Guild of Calamitous Intent. Good singers and a good song.

  • @TomLandryHwy oddly enough many, fine men and women of my generation are coming back from 2 wars that lasted longer than WW2 in terms of American involvement. And they are coming back to an economy without the resources to support them. So they will also have to rebuild it on their backs to pay for your retirement. I would probably hold off on the slander...

  • Bowie: "Do you like Contemporary?"

Bing:"Contemporary? Boy do you want my belt?"

  • Why did justin beiber have to ruin this song?...

  • funny or die sent me here :))

  • Crosby seemed like a real gentleman

  • Absolutely love this song they both fed off each other a classic! we are so lucky that we can enjoy this song pure genises

  • Thumbs up if you're still watching this after christmas

  • 68 people like the Justin Bieber Christmas CD.

  • Nice song but empty words. 34 years later the world is far from this peaceful hope. It is even worse. No amount of Christmases will bring peace on earth itself.

  • I was around 8 when this first aired, and even back then the tension in the air made my butt sweat. Watch the John C. Reilly / Will Ferrell reenactment for a good chuckle.

  • @djdksf1 Bing Crosby was a huge fan of Bowie's vocals and HE invited David to be on his Christmas Special. Man, some people are just stupid, but IGNORANCE annoys's the hell out of me.

  • @CountessClassicRock Lighten up Countess, your butt is sweating.

  • #peaceonearth

  • This could easily have been the opening scene of a gay porn from 1980.

  • So fucking weird. Love it.

  • Merry Christmas from Athens, Georgia USA!

  • Timless.

  • Timeless.

  • Is it just me or did Bing suddenly look younger as they were singing?

  • I have to watch this every year. (UN)fortunately I am old enough to remember watching this on TV when it first aired in the 70s. It was bizarre and amazing and I can still recall thinking WTF? I wish I could have recorded it then. Without the ability to replay it, I was left wondering if it was as good as it seemed. Now it is one of those holiday revisits I enjoy taking since the computer age. Merry Christmas and thanks for posting this.

  • Magical.

  • why can't david bowie afford his own piano?

  • Comment removed

  • Anyone else see the Will Ferrel version of this? lol

  • This is one of my favorite Christmas songs ever...I am such a big David Bowie fan anyways...but I love Bing Crosby too cuz I love the film White Christmas. ;-D

  • Absolutely beautiful song....performed just 1 month before Bing Crosby's death, and aired on television for the first time a little more than a month after his death in 1977....Close your eyes and just listen...My favorite Christmas song of all time coming from a most unlikely pairing....Peace on Earth, and Merry Christmas Everyone!!

  • @TippyTommy62 Agree and thanks

  • @TippyTommy62 Thank you for sharing that, wonderful information.

  • I love Bing Crosby's music especially Christmas. I seem to only like David Bowie in the "Labyrinth". But love this. Wish I could have a copy.

  • My All Time Favorite....

  • I looked for this song for years after I first heard it on the radio. Thanks youtube! I love this duet. Truely amazing! Their voices are awsome.

  • Elfs exist !!

  • The king of class meets the king of cool.

  • Best Christmas Song ever

  • what a wonderful duet! I love David Bowie. actually everything i got for Christmas had to do with him. anyway, merry Christmas everyone! God bless David! And all you guys, too. :)

  • Asolutely different personalities but the performance is great! A unique document, thank you for posting and Merry Christmas!

  • As soon as this ended Bing gave his kids a black eye.

  • Merry Christmas David, thank you :)

  • リリースから30年以上たちますが、当時も現在も、どーゆー組み合わせか理解できません。曲も歌唱も素晴らしいです。

  • brilliant. brilliant. beautiful.

  • sorry that you lost your husband angel.

  • Merry christmas everyone!!!!! :) x

Or to those feeling a little less festive:-

A Merry pissing shitting bollocking Christmas!

  • Angelspeak2000...god bless ya Luv <3

  • How could they concentrate on two different songs at the same time??

  • David's a dick in this: barges straight in without being invited, says he's there to play the piano, and inquires about Bing's finances.

  • @bearo657 Haha -- well, he did think it was the butler, at first... Oh, those young dudes...

  • @bearo657 If only Bing had lived another year or two -- we might have found out if he was also a fan of Bush... ;)

  • @bearo657 you mean the "poor relation" bit?

  • @bearo657 OMG! this was scripted, could you really have mistaken it for an impromptu conversation???

  • @n3xx4s bear....what are you a moron?....OF COURSE it was scripted ....it was a TV SHOW...for gods sake

  • @MrWheezer73

Obviously it was and funny he didn't get that but I often wondered if the "Agents down the chimney" line was a bit of cheeky improv' on Bowie's part.

  • @bearo657 You ARE kidding, right? Just your attempt to get a rise out of people? Well, if that's what turns you on...whatever. Before anybody takes this lame attempt at bait, this was a written and rehearsed bit. Ummmm....duh?

  • @CountessClassicRock You wrote: "Ummmm....duh?" I'm just curious: where were you educated?

  • Bing with his voice of gold!

  • all time good

  • I remember I was a teen when this first aired and I thought "wow, what an odd pair!" Only to be stunned by how awesome they are together.

  • the song starts st 1:57

  • Best Christmas song I have ever heard, by far.. It's my mother's favourite, too.. It's made of magic.

    Merry Christmas.

  • he sounds like ricky gervais

  • It's Bing fucking Crosby...pal.

  • Imagine this dialogue would have existed:

David: Do you like modern music?

Bing: Yeah Rihanna "You Da One" and LMFAO "Sexy and i Know It" are specially fine...

  • i wonder if they knew they were making magic?

  • Unusual duo but it works, beautiful song, and it is not overtly religious!

  • Merry Christmas!from Buenos Aires,Argentina

  • Crosby and Bowie.. Priceless I have this on a rare, black and white DVD of Bowie performances, this has always been my favorite part.!

  • merry christmas eve everybody

  • just great iconic performers/stars from different ends of great music combined merry chrismas may good things come to pass .

  • I'm going to pretend that 60 people hit the dislike button by mistake.

  • El villancico español más famoso de la historia.

  • A great clip from Bing Crosby's last Christmas special from 1977. A duet of Mr. Crosby & David Bowie makes it so sweet to enjoy it every holiday season.

  • Bowie: Well I sing too.

Crosby: Oh good, what kinda singin'?

Bowie: Oh, mostly contemporary stuff, "Rock N' Roll Suicide", Diamond Dogs", "TVC 15 "Ziggy Stardust..."

Crosby: (Glaring) What the Hell did you just call me, boy?

  • @Etrigan2112 literally laughed myself silly at your comment :)

  • I can only imagine when they weren't filming, Bing would just stare at Bowie out of the corner of his eyes with this menacing look and say; "I don't know who the Hell you are boy...but something makes me wanna slap you with the back of my hand. Didn't we save your ass in the war?"

But damn it if they don't harmonize in counterpoint brilliantly!

  • This version is so beautiful. And, it's an unlikely Duo, but it works.

  • David Bowie in this reminds me of a far better looking and far less cuntish David Brent.

  • @cockshield WTF!

  • @greggmufc Only in the first few seconds.

  • wow!

  • keep your sexual remarks to yourself pervert

  • stephan graham;s favourite xmas song

  • I feel so blessed for loving and being loved by a man, with a boy's heart who, whatever he does, makes my heart pound for him like a drum ...so so so grateful!!!

  • I remember first seeing this as a child and it took a hold of me then and still does 40 years later. It is one of my favorite songs of all time... Thank you Bing and David....

  • beautiful performance

  • The setup of this really reminds me of a porno.... :/

  • @wowohmyify then what doesn't look like the setting of a porno? haha

  • @wowohmyify Perhaps you watch too much porno.

  • ...timeless treasure...

  • JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON!!! REMEMBER, WITHOUT JESUS BEING BORN CHRISTMAS WOULD NOT HAVE EXISTED! MERRY CHRISTmas and God Bless!

  • @macuban18 Sure it would have. We just wouldn't call it that. We would all be Pagans and there'd be a swell Winter Solstice Festival, and we'd gather around with our families and have a nice dinner and decorate a tree and so forth.

  • What makes this song so magical is that Bing didn't really know a lot about this new, young singer from England. David knew of Bing but they were from two different generations. What they each brought to the table makes this song truly magical. :)

  • i cant give this enough thumbs up merry christmas everyone

  • the original mash up! my favorite Christmas song.

  • Beautiful. Missing my husband, Tim ( gone from brain cancer}. I love you, Angel.

  • This is such a great song, it will forever be one of my favorites!!

  • I just showed this to my 88 year old mother-in-law and tears came to her eyes. Her husband who passed away almost 20 years ago very much resembled Bing Crosby. Absolutely beautiful! What a classic!

  • yes that song has the same effect on me as I lost my mom almost two years ago and still remember Christmas as a special time for us...

  • I love both Bing Crosby and David Bowie and this captures the best in both. Merry Christmas Everyone, and Peace to all those of Good Will.

  • Bing Died before this aired. Show respect people.
