Why do they always pick the retards to play the games we get footage of, we end up seeing as little footage as possible because they can't do the simplest tasks to get through the level, the icon on the wall said "B" what do you think "B" means, does it mean jump in the air, slam to the ground and then press "B"? No, it means press "B" dumbass.
On another note, thanks for this new unleashed footage from Leipzig.
Sonic does have some platforming as is seen for a few moments in the Gamespot interview in the China level. This means in Sonic's sections there are platforming even if does happen all the time. And according to the Sega representative who was interviewed there will be more platforming in Sonic's sections. It just won't be as prominent as the speed or Sonic the Werehog's.
(Note: The remark on prominence was based on my inferred judgement from the Gamespot interview.)
What I mean is I think(and hope) that it's not a glitch. Because was just jumping all over the place anyway. at least it means the loops aren't just animations.
That is fine. It shows us what the game looks like when someone like that plays. In the Europe and E3 trailers we saw what a decent player looks like. In the Gamespot interview we saw something in-between. It gives you some nice extra info to help judge the gaming mechanics, not to mention some hints on alternate routes for when we all get to play it.
Its about the way the game plays itself I guess. No automated loops mid-game (here at least), being able to bounce off objects like the classic Sonic games, and not going at breakneck speed unless you use the rush dash too much. That and it seems like its better to take your time than just blindly run through.
blind? heh. i didn't see any other actual paths in this video. and pressing B to crawl down something is not what i consider a good "gameplay" mechanic. as it stands. this is coming out like Sonic Advance 2. the only person who is blind. is you
The crawl happened because the player wasn't fast enough to slide. Also, this clip was just a little part of the level. There other paths throughout the level that can be taken. There are platforming sections. Holding right won't get you through this level spick and span.
considering the E3 footage. yes, holding right is basically enough to get you through the 2D portions. and that's piss poor. of course i refer to the china stage and were hedgehog E3 footage they showed on gametrailers
Wait, other than E3 footage and this clip, you haven't seen anything else of the game? Anyways, even in the classics there was holding right in speed sections. But there are parts (just like the 2D games) where you actually have to jump around obstacles to dodge and evade.
lol, hydrocity, marble, marble garden, spring yard, casino night, launch base, flying battery, sandopolis, lava reef, ice cap. and a bevy of other zones from the classics HIGHLY disagreee with you. the only stages you could really hold right to beat was emerald hill and green hill.
Out of that list, Hydrocity and Marble Garden had a lot of parts where you just held right either going down the slopes of Marble Garden, being propelled through the water of Hydrocity going around all those loops when submerged in water and in Act 2 of Icp there is a multitude of loops.
difference is that a majority of old levels weren't ALL that aside from emerald and green. meanwhile Sonic Advance 2 was mostly hold right till the very last levels. and this game seems to have the same issues with the 2D sections just by 2 levels. hell, even emerald hill had a variety of different paths.
Yeah, in my opinion thats what made the original Green Hill Zone levels so good. You could hold right to win if you wanted to, but you could also slow down and explore platforming sections.
remember Chemical Plant on Sonic 2? theres parts when you only just hold right. there are more paths to go in this game, they only showed one section of the level, theres even a "quick time" part where you press three buttons quickly so you can go to a different path
damn, by this vid the controls might be iffy

The first 5 seconds of this video looked very nice and Sonic-like.

You are right. He didn't attain enough speed and started to fall. As he fell, he used sonic boost to propel Sonic over.

What's nice about a person being a complete failure at following directions?
