i.e. Say distance is 100. Rate is 5 and 10. The time will be 20 for the first and 10 for the second. Clearly 20 is not equal to 10. So your assumption is incorrect. They could still leave at the same time on the clock say 9 am, but the time taken to cover the distance will be different. Please explain your assumption
How did you assume that the two times are equal?. The time used in the equation R x T = D refers to the "amount" of time taken to cover distance D at a speed of R. You assumed that since they leave at the same time (i.e. say they leave at 9 am) the amount of time is same? That doesnt make sense at all
@thereally28 the two distances added together equal 520. problem is you dont know the distance of the two cars. so he said the formula to get the distance is rate x the time. he made time x. the rate for the two cars were 55 mph and 75 mph. so 55x + 75x = 520. so solve for x. 55x plus 75 x equals 130. 520 divided by 130 is 4. if you dont get it dont feel ashamed. my parents think im stupid. but the thing is word problems are hard for me. especially mixture problems
Im at this part in my math class. Solving for the ewuations is fine for me. It just when i have to try to make an equation for a word problem kills me. Not every word problem is the same. X.X
the asvab gives 36 minutes to do 30 problems and im suppose to draw graphs? is there a short cut to look for in the question so i can write the problem down and solve?
he looks at the tip of his whiteboard marker before he writes something on the board. I noticed it. Cuz that's how sleepy i get when it comes to math.
all you had to do was add 75 with 55 and you get 130 and divide by 520 and you get 4, get rid of the x's, to confusing. just add the two and divide the actual distance and you get the answers.
A contractor agreed to finish a project in 50 days. He employed 120 men who worked 9 hours a day. After 20 days, only 1/3 of the project was completed. How many more men should ha employ to finish the work on time if each man now worked 10 hour a day?
the answer is 24 but I don't know the soultion. Please help. THANK YOU.
THANKS FOR SHARING HOW YOU GOT THE ANSWER YOU STUPID FUCK, I BET YOU DONT DRINK OR DO DRUGS YOU PUSSY FAGGOT, fuck u bitch u suck ass holes. ill rip your hair out and smash your skull with scolding hot baseball bats.
Agreed. This guy leaps the final step, doesn't he? I mean, I was working with the prob "fifty five times something plus seventy five times something equals 520?" How does he know that something = 4?
(55 + 75)X = 520.
130X = 520.
Now, 130 times something = 520. So divide 520 by 130. That's 4.
Thank you sir! you and the other people who make these videos teach better than my teachers at school, my teacher doesnt know how to make the class understand. Must Appreciated Sir. =) Thank you!
Only one problem: you didn't explain how to solve after setting up the problem. Combining like terms and dividing both sides by 130x. Other than that, great explanation.
I know that, but people that really struggle with (like most people who watch these videos) may not. It just seems like he explained every single step in detail except for that one. I just thought it was weird that he skipped it.
I hate math - ugh! This does help a lot of good explanations! But If I loved it and was as a good as the instructor I'd pass my test with flying colors. Good video!

How did he suddenly get 4??
esthermiso 8 months ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@esthermiso ok, so his equation was 55x + 75x = 520.
first you add the 55x and 75x which gives you 130.
soo, 130x = 520
divide 520 and 130 which equals 4.
so. x = 4. or {4}
war3hog1337 5 months ago
@esthermiso he solved the equation if you want to learn that look for multi step equations

55x+75x=520
130x=520 (divide both sides by 130)
x=4 hours
Proving:
55 x 4 = 220
75 x 4 = 300
300+220= 520 miles
Therefore, I am correct.
