  • honestly,i like rush`s old song better.

  • Awesome song!!! Nice one Rush.

  • That kind of freaked me out.

  • ruleforder, you suck, go listen to britney spears, tis what you deserve for calling rush simple

  • Classic tune and when played live even better..

  • I kinda like this vid. Compared to the mass of unsatisfying Rush videos that they have put forth over the decades (I LOVE their music but hate their vids) THIS is light years ahead... truly driven!

  • It's nice to see there is still a zealous following but, you do yourself (and the rest of us) a disservice with your limited vocabulary. Read a book and go watch Dr Strangelove before before we begin discussing EDW...

  • You tell them. There is nothing wrong with Rush's videos. RETARDS!!!!

  • nahhh !!!....just a lot of equipment and a chicken rotisserie - guitarist turns me on-5mins after I cant remember - what they just looked like - their looks are all mixed up I'll stick with Betles, Clapping and King Kong and the likes - real past times - not this overblown clabberjabber like Revalations. (now i've heard this song , how did it go again ? ) ummmmm In 20-50 yrs their music will be long fried and eaten.....

  • this Adolfshitlerite has posted that same thing on every rush video i have seen ignore him

  • i want adolfshitlerite to die a painful and agonizing death sometime in the near and not to distant future.

  • I love this song, but I think the live version sounds better... Much better. The live version is so full of life, especially the bass.

  • why is the audo so low? Love the video just can't hear it well.

  • That's the way the album actually is... I know it's really soft.

  • Driven to a fool's paradise!

  • Great song. And Geddy's bass interlude in concert...ah, awesome...

  • At :28,:29 one of the guys flicks us off

  • no hes making the rock sign

  • Always remember guys we all vary in our moods... but here we are watching Rush...... I'm 47...Lets ts get on with it ....we know its love xxxx

    y

  • Mr Lee, You'll have to put that Bass down before I hand you the wheel.

I love these guys. Peart is getting that biker look with the stache.

  • Actually, Neil Peart IS a biker.

Great song, but weird video. Does anybody know what does it mean?

  • That's okay, just look at the back of the vinyl 2112. He looks like a deadwood character!

  • Peart rode across North America on his BMW motorcycle, so I'd say it's appropriate.

  • He actually did it after this song was made so..

  • Driven to margin of error...

    Drive to edge of control...

Driven to the margin of terror...

Driven to the edge of a deep dark hole...

    This band is THE SHIT!!!

  • y has every1 given snowdogkh thumbs down? 'the shit' is a compliment! and snowdogkh is rite, this band's awesome!

  • Thanks dnewco. YES I meant this band is the shit as in they are FUCKIN AWESOME!

    There IS no better!!!

Maybe some don't understand the slang...but it WAS a compliment!!!

  • why do they take my pics down and not hers?

  • Driven to the edge of a deep, dark hole!

  • the Riff is genius!

  • It's my turn to drive!

  • just imagine if they wrote this song 20 years ago and geddy sang this an octave higher. that would be intense. And what is peart wearing? lol at least he was growing the handlebar back. haven't seen that since the 70's

  • I Think RUSH Is one of the very Best!!

TEST FOR ECHO ...Is a...travel!! ...really is a good one!!!

    Half Of World! Terrific!!

  • One of my favorite Rush songs, gotta say.

The hard drive of the song is perfect.

  • i just love this song... true awesomeness :D

  • I am still a True Canadian through, and through, and glad I am a part of this !!

  • That one crazy one reminds me of Ged and the cautious one reminds me of Alex.

  • these guys remind me of tool in so many ways. they both rock!

  • What the hell is wrong with you?

  • I think Rush has cheesy videos because they make them just for fun. They have said they are a Tour band. One of the things i like about Rush is that they make songs with great messages then go on stage and Geddy has washing machines and chicken rotisseries going. Serious can have a sense of humor.

  • Rush fans, Check us out!!!

  • Good song from "Test for Echo". That was the last time I saw them live in concert in 97' in Atlanta,GA. Thanks for posting the video since I hadn't seen it before.

  • ya the rider with goggles is probably geddy. i've always thought that

  • alex lifeson can come up with some really cool riffs.like the main riff for "far cry".

  • is it just me or does the driver with the goggles look Geddy

  • lmfao nice guys, this video proves that rush is canadian :D proud to be canadian!!!

  • I agree. Rush is the greatest band of all time, but damn, they made some cheezy ass videos. Distant Early Warning comes most to mind. Their best ones were the simple ones like Vital Signs and Limelight.

  • eh, i think most Rush fans listen than watch.

  • i agree, i couldn't care less about videos

  • you think this is cheesy? look at falling to peices by faith more and tell me if that aint cheezy.

  • Once again these guys proved to be able to adapt to any phase of mainstream music whilst maintaining their legendary excellence.

  • excellence, perfect description.

  • I heard this song for the first time yesterday after being a Rush fan for about 2 years now and its fucking fantastic. LOVE IT!!!!!!

  • yeah I remember picking up the T4E album for the first time and thought wow! The album was straight forward, went together, the songs were powerful, its an awesome record. To me they were going in the right direction musically with this album and you can really hear Geddy's playing improving through the different songs like "Virtuality" and "Limbo"! Alex added great textures and Neil had a hard and soft feel to him too!

  • i love Ged's bass in this song

  • Geddy looks cool as hell.

  • the beginning reminds me of Dream Theater - Panic Attack

  • Love Rush, awesome video! Thanks for sharing!

  • Even if it is real in this video, he doesn't have one anymore.

So if it's real, he might have just grown it out for the making of this video.

Keep in mind that this isn't what you would call a "new" video. It's been around a while.

  • Guys the mustache isn't real...Lol

  • awesome

  • Ged's voice has definitely matured through the years, I loove it. He also look a lot more handsome too. Neil has an awesome new mustache. I think that Alex has become a much better player than he was.

  • Peart's moustache looks sick !!!

  • When did Neil grow a new moustache?

The sound quality on this video is terrible.

  • Can't tell if you're being sarcastic...

    It's fake.

  • weird liitle people, but great song

  • i think that the red guitar the alex is playing is his fav

  • the video is so funny!!!

  • the rhodes of circus barrel of black noice

  • ya that's what I thought too - then my wife reminded me that I'm an idiot! :-0

    ~~'O=^o>

  • I love the spinnin geddy at :53 lol

  • Rush is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • haha geddy looks awesome!

  • test for echo is a classic

  • love it.....

  • what album is this off of? Snakes and Arrows? it looks recent...

  • It's off of Test for Echo.

It's a great album, pick it up if you don't already have it.

  • Great comment.

  • Leave me alone (crying) i'm an idiot and don't read the Information given by the poster...

    LOL...god i feel stupid.

  • Your crying just cuz someone said nice comment, SUCK IT UP PRINCESS!!!!

  • Excuuuuse me, Princess! lol

  • Odd video, but a very rockin song.

  • Neil looks so frikkin cool with a 'tasch .

  • wasnt this written by neil pert after his entire famly died or something

like a modern "tears in heaven"

  • No, it was written before the death of his daughter and first wife.

  • Ghostrider is about Neil life after the death of his family

  • yeah, he rides his bmw adventure while geddy and alex ride in the tour bus

  • skidding down a road of black ice. driven to the edge of a deep dark hole. it's my turn to drive. So buckle up and hold on Buckwheat.

  • Geddy Has a real cool solo when they play it live (yes on the bass)

  • "Driven" came out in 1996, a year before the computer game "Fallout", yet the imagery of the video seems perfect for the game.

  • i wish i was a family part of one of those guys...

  • ephilosopher you should start your own future drama. Great lyrics, but don't know what the hell you're blattering about.

By the way came across you on one of the Queen videos. Good call buddy

  • never thought of that, wake me where'd you ged that from, deep dark coma? do you have fan insurance for your meaningful souls?

  • you suck!

  • one day i feel i'm on top of the wheel

countenance p'shaw driven to the margin of tenderness

  • you suck!

  • your sick thoughts are just that

› astralbreeze has joined the conversation.

PLAYERvsCOMPUTER : im hardly ever scared by anything but that shat me up

Barcode : There never has nor will there ever be a creature as scary as the Frankenstein Monster (Boris Karloff).

    -the-fun- : then don't watch hostel

IdentityCrisisBH† : postmodern prometheus as we see us?

    ~JaηηåJίηη~ : i thought hostel was sad

~JaηηåJίηη~ : it didnt scare me, just made me want to go save the people

  • Odd video, but one of the greatest Rush songs!!!

  • What does rolling bone know? They voted best drummer to Fleetwood Mac for Christs sake. The only thing they did right was have Blind Melon on the cover!

  • once again we wonder if the people who make these videos of brazil i saw you standing alone like the centre of leaves , lol of lame flouridefumble driven out off of pole flippancy, thought you would never be.

  • both the song and the video are so different but so awesome!

  • they are

  • No, they actually aren't. But the members, like myself, could give a shit. I mean, how much does it really mean if horrible bands like the O'Jays are in?

  • Wow. I played in the O'Jay's - AND I like Rush.

  • i think rush should be in the hall of fame

  • I agree!

  • and yet there not but Michel jack son is wtf

  • The Hall of fame is corrupted, I'm grateful rush remains out of it because the never tend to sell out or go down on their quality of music.

  • u r like rain man or something.

  • i've been following these guys for 25 years. all in all i would call myself "punk" as i have played in a smattering of diy/hardcore/screamy bands. but RUSH still ranks up there for me and always will. the music is so tight and everchanging. this band matters... they're not just tee shirt fodder or throwback rehased crap or radioplayed overmarketed shit. thanks u 3...

  • Rush is just different. They never stayed the same. But always musical. Always interesting. Time signatures, chord progressions can almost be analyzed from a classical standpoint. But, great lyrics. And most of all, maybe the most techinical and talented and tight bands I've ever heard. I can't stand sloppy musicians. And Rush is always right on.

  • well said

  • I'm going to this in MOLINE

  • Right On! Always stoked to see a RUSH video I've never seen before. Love it's oddness. RUSH has no bad songs only different kinds of songs. I guess some people prefer when a bands songs all sound the same. RUSH is the definition of ARTISTS and every song is a MASTERPIECE. RUSH RULES ROCK.

  • You hit the nail right on the head. never heard a better way to explain RUSh for all of the neigh sayers

  • wow this song is like so dif than traditional rush. i mean compare this to XANADU "aka best sng in the world bu rush"

\RUSH IS THE BEST BAND EVER NO DOUBT ABOUT IT/

  • Not one of Rush's better songs.

  • Rush is an acquired taste when it comes to music. Keep listening. It'll grow on you, like all their songs.

  • That's like saying "this ribeye isn't as good as the fillet mignon." It's still a fine steak, but the comparison is a losing proposition.

  • No, it's like saying, "you'll appreciate the depths to the music the more exposure you have to it". They are wonderfully crafted bits of music IMHO.

  • Awsome song, but the video is a little odd =/

  • Message to Rush:

Please include some close ups of the playing in the next videos. I know they are videoclips and not concerts, but using your own words, musicianship first.

    Moris Beracha

  • haha i know but it's like why the fuck is he driving?? and the bass is so prominent you know?? hahaha come on.

  • The bass isn't really anymore prominent than the guitar is. The bass solo is there, but who said bassists aren't allowed to have solos?

  • well it's Rush, it's Geddy Lee. he's one of the greatest.

  • Well said partner

  • was that geddy on one of thos weird bikes? it kinda looked like him

  • fuck no. come on, he's playing bass.

  • you can tell that their music changed as the times cahnged but you know what the change was for the better if i must say

you can tell this song definantly fitted the 90's music era and i glad rush saw what they can do and take that opprotunitie to see what that era's youth liked and used it to thier advantage

  • first tape i bought i wanna say in 1996 man i was a little kid when this came out

  • great! ive been searching for this like 3 years now...XD finaly found it, u see i had this op my mp3 witch i lost 3 years ago and i didn't know the name or band of the song and i misheard the lyrics so i had a real hard time finding it, but this evening i heard a background music in family guy and it had about the same vocals so i searched it on youtube and then i saw it was rush and seached like another 2 hours but by typing: bass solo rush i saw the title: driven :D ty youtube i LOVE this song

  • The sad thing about this cut is,after they made this, his daughter died in that horrible accident.I still hurt for Pratt

  • umm i think you mean, Peart...not "pratt"?

  • Pratt was his...uhh, "stage name" I guess.

    Dirk! = Geddy

    Lerxst! = Alex

    Pratt! = Neil

  • oohh ok, yeah i heard about geddy being dirk and lerxst being alex but i never heard the pratt one.

  • That's what they call each other. There was a law firm in Toronto called Dirk,Lerxst and Pratt and they took the names.Kinda like Skinnem,Cheatham and Fleecem from the 3 Stooges.nyaack,nyaack,nyaack....

  • What kind of bass is Geddy using?

  • fender jazz custom

  • peace 2007-2008 onthe other hand i love the open outcourse of the ampitheatre. yet the season of trhe fan@! bewitching, the case contived by the juror insipid, the price between canker and lipid.

  • love this video, and the song

  • How can such a legendary band let their videos be that bad? It's probably not even their fault.

  • just curious, what do you consider to be a good video?

  • A video that compliments a great song, not a video that distracts you from how good the song really is because your busy wondering why the video isnt any better

  • come on man this was relased 12 years ago its not going to be billiant is it

  • Michael Jackson's Thriller video was released in 1983, and I think it's brilliant.

  • You man....This song is about being scrambled...over the top...

"Driven to the edge of control, driven to the edge of a deep dark hole....."

The video is a whirl wind of insanity, just like the song. It fits the song. Simply...I like, the quick changes, flashes and the faces on the guys in the flat cars etc. Thriller? That video doesn't make that song. His stuff has no substance so let's just dance. Well, 2 different kinds of music.

  • I totally agree with you. And I also think Rush kicks Michaels ass. But im just sayin i think their videos should be better, because their songs are all amazing. Thats all im sayin. Their not AWFUL. Seein them in July! WOOO

  • Really, so am I , Holmdel ! July 14th !!!! YEEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • where are you seeing them? What do you think about the Far Cry video?

  • PNC Bank Arts Center on the 12th. As far as Far Cry goes, its another great song, but i couldnt really comprehend to what the video was getting at. Any idea? (Im not saying that to be a jerk or anything, id actually like to know)

  • sorry, the 12th....that's the mistery of Rush, double and triple meanings..

  • What do you mean

  • There are many, one off the top of my head, such as Counterparts, ..from the album, on the back of it has a schematic of a counter and sink, but it also mean people working together, as in, counterparts....

  • Ah yes. Sorry, i got confused with what you meant. Its the same with Power Windows

  • and almost every other album! =), the thinking man's band!

  • With the exeption of the first album. Some of the lyrics on that arent very creative, the low point, in my opinion, being Take a Friend (low point lyrics-wise, still a great song). But it was only because that was before Peart was there.

  • everybody needs a friend, "someone to stick with you till the end"

    pretty cool o me! =)

  • It's because Neil wasn't with them yet. The lyrics start to get better on Caress of Steel, dont they? That's at least my opinion..

  • Yeah they do. Thats what I was sayin

  • Yeah I don't know what Rolling Stone is talkin about when they said Neil Peart is the second worst lyric writer and first was Sting. Yeah Sting does suck but Neil Peart could write some good stuff like the fact that he writes about anceint times on A Farewell to Kings

  • Neil Peart is one of the BEST writers of all time, and to put him down is just showing to everyone that you are nothing but a jealous asshole.

  • true, true. the only thing I ever heard that bothered me is in this song. "deep, dark, hole" doesnt sound right.

  • should be Abysmal Hole, amirite?

  • whatever

  • good point but i cant see rush dancing on the streets with the undead

  • Been a RUSH fan since '77!!!!
