To all you people complaining about a lineup like that. Here's a quote from Joe Strummer himself: "Bruce is great. If you don't agree with that, you're a pretentious martian".
@AngelaCarton joe may have liked bruce springsteen, but this is not what the clash or joe strummer were about.this sucks, they ruined a great song and elvis costello should be ashamed for been part of it.
@nignogs they're paying homage to a great artist by performing one of his songs. for all he stood for joe would have been humbled and greatful, seeing people that admire him and have been influenced by him.
Elvis Costello played his protest song Radio Radio on SNL in 1977 against Lorne Michaels's order not to, then got banned from the show for a decade. Bruce Springsteen has a political edge to a lot of his songs under his mostly pop/blues sound. I can't speak for Grohl and Van Zandt, but at least Springsteen and Costello belong in that lineup.
Sorry to rain on everyone's parade, as I'm usually overwhelmingly positive, but I gotta criticize.
This is an overblown performance on an awards show that ANNUALLY kills everything people like Uncle Joe stood for. The grammies are overpriced music, pretentious celebrities, mind-blowing pomposity. Million-dollar sponsors, a COMPLETE disconnect with regular folks...
This is 4 millionaires claiming they identified with a man who was one of us until the day he died. Love you, Uncle Joe. Miss you.
Agree with the Grammies sentiment but disagree with the sentiment about the intentions of the artists on stage. To be honest....I don't really know too much about the political leanings of Grohl, Costello and Van Zandt but Springsteen has always stood up for alof of what Joe Strummer sang about. The key difference is that Springsteen has just sold more records as his career has spanned many more years.
Good thing about social media is seeing great musicians doing things like this together and being able to see it. Bad thing about social media is unfortunately opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and man, there are alot of assholes out there..
I kept waiting for Springsteen to blow up! The dude gets way into his performances. If you're convinced everyone else is lip-synching I recommend watching The Boss cuz he puts his soul into his music unlike anyone I've ever seen.
Oh and at the end is the announcer the same guy from Letterman?
Joe would have hated it, but, loved it, because it got and still gets people talking. Joe was political, but not in an obnoxious way, just always wanting to make people aware of our lives, and how it is up to us to change if we dont like it!!!!!!!! Joe is my hero!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@rockisbetter Really? That guy from the foo fighters, David Grohl, drummer from Nirvana? Played with John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page, Josh Home, Tenacious D and numerous others. A rather legendary musician in his own time. Best to keep your mouth closed and be thought an idiot than to open it and remove any doubt.
Thats just awesome. and the multiple accents really make it awesome. The clash version is better, but this is a truly great way to remember the most influential musician ever
Fuck me you guys are stupid, here's a line up of top notch artists that wants to pay respect to a great musician that was taken away from us and his family way to early, and you can't see the good in it.... who the fuck do you expect will play in Paul McCartney's funeral.. Chuck Berry??
I think you all missed the opening line of the number...... THIS IS FOR JOEEEE !!!
In many ways the quality of music represents the quality of the culture it's created in. That music has pretty much died and we are being spoon fed 4th tier hip hop and garbage rock music tells me that the West is in decline. It was a good run, brothers and sisters - but we're falling and hard !
@pbrlimit Elvis Costello was around at the same time as Joe and the lads and then as now is bout everything the Clash stood against. The token English artist in the line-up and no SImmo, no Mick... even Dave Grohl looks like a throw back from ´72... it's like punk never was.
@rtt470 "Liberal Agenda" = Joe Strummer, one of the most left wing and liberal people ever. Go back and re-learn politics, Joe's political beliefs and the Clash's messages were one of the great reasons why they are were (and are) the only band that matters.
I clearly remenber this day, when I saw on television, here on Brazil the Grammy, didn't agree with ''best album to FF'',deservedwent to SOAD and about this was wonderful ,i remenber that Norah Jones was the artist that gotmore grammys6,i guess and No doubt get one of best Pop/rock group .
Great song but an audience full of hipocrites, Joe would turn in his grave seeing them cunts clapping with their crocodile smiles. Every one on that stage is a legend though
wow this is amazing they got dave grohl bruce springsteen stevie van zandt elvis costello and tony kanal i would like to know who the drummer is though

All the clowns knocking Bruce here really expose themselves as idiots. As much as The Clash was a really great add to the music scene in the late 70's, they only had a 5 year shelf life and no one cared anymore. What Bruce does is bring people back to their music. He is not trying to recreate history, he is trying to get people to visit it. Wake up everybody.
