Actually I loved Iron Man - great film with believable visual effects, many action scenes and decent acting but I can't say this movie was masterpiece. It looked like mix of Robocop, Hulk, X-Men, Terminator 2 etc.

Anyway Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow were great and so hot screen couple.

well it is and it isnt a heart problem its the shrapnel from the bombings witch are advancing to his heart. yes it is from the attack, again, because he said shrapnel. in the original creation of iron man ( witch of course they changed) the problem was tony stark had a disease(im not sure what) that would eventually kill him so he built that to keep him alive. he would also have to keep updating it to keep him alive. eventually it couldnt sustain him and he had to build the suit to compensate.

I'm pretty sure that in the original origin story by Stan Lee, he built the suit to stay alive from the shrapnel injury. That disease thing may be in something like Ultimate Iron Man, those alternative series. This movie looks pretty cool.

In my copy of Son of Origins of Marvel Comics, they reprint the 1963 origin issue of Iron Man, Tales of Suspense, #39. Tony Stark is in South Vietnam, and trips an explosive device. Injured, he builds the electronic metal suit to keep the shrapnel from entering his heart. The "reds" wanted him to build them a weapon. I don't intend to argue; as I said in comics, there are many different versions, maybe an animated series changed it, or another comic series.
