Excellent Movie, Best I have seen in a while. I want to watch it again :) I did not know what to expect but it was just awesome from beginning till end. Hope this does good so that the other 2 movies can be created. Going to shop to buy the books :) John Carter is now in my top 10 movie favourite list.

The story was written 100 years ago. It's the original. In fact, I did feel of Avatar or Star Wars. Cause the movie came out first. I liked the movie. in the middle was little dragging. But as the story goes, it's fun and promising. And the all the architectures and designs of ships were so great. And John Carter was eye candy~!

The storyline comes from the adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs, John Carter books. His first book of the series was written 100yrs ago.  Edgar Rice Burroughs created Tarzan and one series of books that is quite good, "Venus."

Started reading his books in the 70's when I was 8 and have been waiting 34yrs for someone to make these books into a movie.

I would say, and most modern writes would agree, Burroughs is the grandfather of most science fiction novels and movies.

I like the special effects, but a good movie requires a lot more than just special effects and a big budget to work. It has to have compelling characters - and those characters need to not be ruined. The thing that has me a bit nervous is the fact that the big battle scenes look a bit too "Episode 1-ish" and that's definitely something to worry about. On the other hand, John Carter of Mars is a good series, so hopefully it will translate well. I really like the design of the ships.
