  • Wow! Loved it Amen!

  • Awesome! I first heard this when a gospel singer named Willa Dorsey sang it at the Republican convention in Dallas in 1984 for Reagan. I was 13. I've also heard the vocal majority, but I've never heard them perform this song.

  • I have to say this is the best arrangement, and its so funny to sing.

  • Sounds like Vocal Majority.... A lot like Vocal Majority. Are you sure you aren't lip-syncing to Vocal Majority?

  • LOL!!! I was singing this when the lightning struck the house. We're okay. But it just came out, I mean, I just started singing! XD It was 12:00AM. I wasn't happy. And my dog and cat came into my bed, bristling. They didn't like it either. (:

  • Mt Pleasant, IA?

  • 2:57 to the end was awesome.

  • I like the last few tags "Justin Bieber Star Wars"

  • i thought he was saying "joshua fit the battle of a cherry cone" haha

  • i love you

  • It would be great to see and hear this song in a great audio quality. Any chance for a re-recording?

  • very very nice!

  • Thought you had the title wrong at first... I had never heard it called "fit" instead of "fought" in the title, so I did a search on it. I guess you learn something new every day! At any rate, a great, great job. I'm really happy to have stumbled over your videos. Keep up the good work.

  • wow(x90)

  • I want to marry you. I'm a guy; I'm not gay.

  • Epic...

  • Awesome song + awesome man = awesome video.

  • Awesome!!!!!

  • This contains elements of mastery. No doubt your technique is proficient, you've more than adequately illustrated the passions evoked by this piece, your production is precisely orchestrated and you dedicated clear efforts to perfect it.

Because of this, we are grateful and humbled that you would give us such a performance free of cost and without hinderance. Thank you, sir. God bless.

  • he must have been so sick of this song by the time he was finished it

  • we learned this song in preschool. I go to a christian private school ;) Brought back so many memories!

  • Oh, WOW.

I just learned this on piano, so I looked it up and it's...ohmigod, wow.

    Very, very impressed.

  • I did not expect that. Awesome

  • WOW!

  • Love the false start :) No flag on the play, though...

  • this was excellent!! nice work!!

  • You wiped me out, goosebumps all over. Thank you so much for this amazing work!

  • lol wtf u have tags justin bieber and star wars o_O?????

  • what program do you use to get the four different video tiles?

  • omg the chorus at my school sang this!!!!

  • This is fantastic!!! Thanks so much for such an enjoyable performance!

  • So, i'm gonna try to do a multi-track really soon, but i need some tips on how to go about doing so. If you could help, that'd be great! Thanks!

  • Wow! You're like your own portable Vocal Majority!

  • The video looses it's brilliance at the middle part... Anyway - respect for your work!

  • Great vocal arrangement but a bit too much reverberation

  • My head just mutated into a giant pickle. Now what?

  • WOW!!!

  • this is amazing!! i love the harmonies. there was just a little bit of audio clipping towards the end, but i LOVED the arrangement!

  • 21 dislikes hummm... ya'll are stupid!!!

  • @choppers147 I imagine that some of those dislikes are because of his tone. This song is almost always done with a men's choir where pronunciation and enunciation are very important.

  • Subscribed before I even clicked the LIKE button! Can't wait to see all you have done here! This took me somewhere else, wondering which one of you to write to! LOL Not buying the religion scripture part, but the unique singing, something to like here!

  • Holy CLAPPERDANGLES! That is one of the most impressive displays of the use of sound I've ever heard.

  • well done

  • This is just.... beyond words outstanding!

  • OMGGGG THATS ALL I CAN SAY! we are singing this song in choir. and we are singing Jeepers Creepers and Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy and other barbershop songs. you are amazing and i love you soo much for doing thissss!! LIKE x100000000!!!!!! ahh i cant stop listening to your videos. i would love to buy a CD of just you singing hahh omg! or a t-SHIRT or something. you are talented

  • omg your amazing im showing this to my choir director

  • I like this a lot! very nice!

  • hey could ya do Viva la vida by coldplay?

  • @mookahmookah Please let that band fade into nothingness like it deserves.

  • @Reick17 what did coldplay ever do to you?

  • cool must have taken hours

  • One word...wow.

  • That's one impressive multitrack! Really enjoy listening to this one every now and then.

  • I love Jesus, I love the Bible, and I love the vocal projects you post here! Thank you, Vance, and may Gob bless you and multiply your ministry!

  • Very precise voice in tone. I'm not involved in jazz, but this is amazing ! Are you a professional singer?

  • very good job, it sounds really great !

  • Isn't it Joshua FOUGHT the battle of Jericho?

  • @Johanofsweden No, it isn't.

  • Damn technology is great!!!

  • Wowww... Fantastic!! God bless u more bro!

  • I agree with tartanmusician. Last note sounded probly (nd I don't wanna sound gay here, but I might) as angelic as a bird's song, as strong as the Greek hero hercules, and as beautiful as the Greek goddess Aphrodite.

  • Dude, that last chord was absolutely beautiful...I saw the basses/baritones take the breath to bottom it out, and got chills before I even heard it, I already knew it was gonna be intense...And more chills around 45 when the basses drop down...very epic, I love the sound of a men's choir, and you did an amazing job keeping everything in tune!!

  • wow sounds great

  • Amazing!

  • Hope you'll redo this in HD. I've heard your other chorale pieces, and they sound very realistic. I think this many tracks is too much for the 360p. It sounds okay from real speakers, but not in headphones.

  • Watched this again like 5 months later... still awesome. I think it's time you remade this with better video and audio quality hmm?

  • AWESOME- you are really good :)

  • Great job, but I feel like it's too fast. I may be slightly biast because I just sang this last semester (Bass II ftw), but I feel it could've been slightly slower. But awesome job ma!

  • can you upload with good quality please? :-)

  • Very nice, sir!

  • This is incredible.......how do u do this....plz share

  • Now you know what 16 of you mixed together sound like. Lol.

  • One man choir.

  • Thanks for giving me the tips last week. I downloaded Sony Vegas pro movie and mixcraft 5 trial versions, scoured the internet looking for tutorials, and slowly figured out how they work. I did my first-EVER voice recording on a laptop at my organ (4 clips in moviemaker off my webcam) and then poured it into vegas pro and figured it out. I then put the .wmv file into mixcraft and added an organ track. I think I created a monster. But it's a starting point. Thanks again for the inspiration!!!

  • Amazing!!! Just amazing!!!

  • As long as there are vids like this on youtube I won't need any food or drink or sleep. This is all I need to survive.

  • I know I'm WAY late to the comment party, but I just today discovered this masterpiece. Incredible job, Vance. I did this type recording once with a barbershop quartet song and it always amazed me that it sounds so plain when you sing each part 1 time. Then when you double to 2x per part, it adds a whole new dimension like you added 4 or more per part. And you did what? 8 times per part? It sounds like a 200 member chorus!

  • Superb 5 star harmonies and synchronization!

  • Excellent arrangement and sound!

  • Just made my day :) So epic

  • been looking for this arrangement.

    willing to share?

  • good job :D

  • This song works so well as a chorus, and you've pulled it off perfectly =)

Does it split? because I'm pretty sure I hear five notes on "Shout" at 2:29, and in the tag as well

  • @sephiroth3782 That sounds like an overtone to me. It's a fifth "ghost" pitch that is sometimes created when the frequencies in a chord lock together in such a way that the pulsations in the wavelengths create an additional frequency that rides on top of the sound.

  • @ZippyDee

I do know what an overtone is =P

It's just that I'm pretty sure I hear more than four voices

like in the tag, on the first "down", its the root and the fifth. And then on the next "down", you can definitely hear a higher root and a lower root, and also another fifth, which are definitely voices and not overtones, and I'm pretty sure there's a quiet third in there as well

  • @sephiroth3782 Hmm. I see what you mean. Maybe it is split into five then.

  • You are welcome. I saw them do this in Little Rock a number of years ago and they were awesome!

  • wondering which mt pleasant his shirt is from:) hehe

cus im in mT pleasant MI

  • This is the best version of the best song written about gleeful genocide.

  • That gave me chills! I really loved this a lot. Very neat! You sing like my husband!! Just for curiosity's sake, you wouldn't happen to be a Sagittarius should you? LOL Anyway, thanks for this. It was a great pleasure to my ears!

  • Fun!

  • I love all the different key changes in this one. That must have been SUPER hard!

  • Nice!

  • @vanceperry we i would worry... talent like that is something to worry about very much ;)

  • Woooww......very gooood.

  • Vance,

I am sitting here wanting to tell you how your music affects me and simply can't find the words. You are , . . incredible. I already have the VM version of this that I have listened to probably hundreds of times. I can't honestly say that you won't take their place in my listening queue. I found this last night at 1:30 and listened for another two hours. Thank you. I have sent a link to this to everyone I know. I am awed.

  • So.... you really like cherry coke then?

No, just kidding, I really enjoyed this.

My dad played in a dutch band years ago that played with a choir and they did this song also. It has always been my favorite song from them! And you sang it great! Great work!!!

  • Good Work. I did notice there are only 4 videos playing though. Each corner has a video split into 4 mini identical videos. I can clearly hear more than 4 voices though. How many parts did you actually have to sing? Sound like 10+

  • " I sang each part 8 times separately (8 Lead tracks, 8 Bass tracks, 8 Tenor tracks, and 8 Baritone tracks) to sound like an entire chorus. I also added 2 tracks for snaps and claps...a total of 34 tracks!! "

  • haha its pretty good, but im not gonna lie, the vowels were awful.

  • too much reverb, otherwise its good

  • Unbelievable o.O

  • LoL! this is AWESOME! I loved it!! :D

  • QUE COLL!!!!

  • hahahaha... you are sooo cool! made so laughe! Thank you!

  • how???????

  • I really like this song

  • lol awsome he about to start and then he like. naw and then starts with a hella alot more! freaking awsome haha

  • that was great!!

  • I like the way the video sounds, all those chores came out pretty well synced. I liked it.

  • Heeeeeha ! Super !!

  • WOW thats pretty amazing :D

  • It's amazing what can be done with tracking your voice several times, adding a wall of reverb and a wall of chorus effect. I've been a sound and recording engineer for 20 yrs, Nice tricks of the trade.

  • This is excellent, but I wish you said "fought" instead of "fit".

    Keep it up!

  • the lyrics are fit tho...

  • That's true for the "Negro Spiritual" version. We're both right :)

  • @hayleyjayneee He was doing an arrangment of the spiritual version. Therefore he sang it how it was meant to be sung, with the word "fit". That's like saying "I liked your arrangement of 'Ave Maria', but I wish you had sang 'Hail Mary'".

  • Hiya, @hayleyjayneee, "fit" is the right word. Cheers.

  • Well it is how the song is written.

  • DANG dude.....that is totally crazy good

  • AMAZING!!!! God BLESS YOU!!!!!

  • how did u do that??? what did u use??

  • Can you say WOW?

    Great job dude!

  • this gets better each time I hear it. Awesome!

  • DIS ROCKS!!!!

  • Epic

  • really cool

  • wow! haha that's osm gratz!

  • Fascinating. I love it. Joshua Chapter six~!

  • Awesome dude!!!

  • love the harmony!!!!

  • Love it. ^^ Keep up the good work.

  • This is one of my favorite barbershop arrangements of all time, and you pulled it off really well! I love how clearly each part comes out, it just sounds absolutely magnificent. Thank you for posting!

  • Moses Hogan arrangement is better.

    still good though.

  • omg XD

  • amazing

  • Excellent!!! God bless and keep you!

    :)

  • this is absolutley AMAZING.

really, i showed my choir class. (:

    five staaaars. :]

  • Praying that you WILL actually go read the bible and form a true understanding of God's love for you, rather than spewing someone elses man made opinion.

  • Whatever you think of the Bible, this thread is about Vance Perry's performance of the song.

  • No, that's not ethnic cleansing. Ethnic cleansing is when one ethnicity already living in a particular nation does its best to wipe out (or at least kick out) another that also lives in the same nation (e.g. the Serbs vs. Croats in the former Yugoslavia — Slobodan Milosevic pretty much coined the term when he said that the Serbs just wanted to "cleanse themselves of other ethnicities").

If you're going to bash the Bible, at least use proper terminology.

  • GREAT!@

  • woah

  • Nice job, but to get the ideal barbershop mix you should go with 8 bass tracks, 6 lead, 4 baritone and 2 tenor with the snaps and claps. Should increase your lock and ring! The fun of the VM is the incredible wall of bass in your face!

  • Besides the Moses Hogan version, i love Vocal Majorities version. :D Excellent job dude

  • (cont'd) But my favorite "thing" about this whole video is that, ok, here's this normal dude just chillin' at home in his Mt. Pleasant t-shirt, baseball cap, playing with the computer......and out of his mouth......(why has he got 16 of himself, geez) comes this chorale of voices belting out acapello a beautiful old spiritual with "zillion-part" harmony! I sure wasn't expecting that. Loved it. Sounded terrific. Thanks!!

  • WOW. Absolutely fantastic. First of all, your voice is incredible. You actually pulled off that entire vocal range? Sang every part from bass to tenor and the lead on top? Good effort, man, but afraid you really just didn't quite pull it off. Naw, what you did was NAIL IT!! whoa. really pretty impressive. And with terrific tone, perfect pitch....

  • I don't care if you did four voices, 32 or a million, this just sounds fantastic!

    Seriously, beautiful man, completely beautiful

  • I think the Vocal Majority did this same arrangement. It's awesome, great job.

  • Yes, the VM does do this arrangement. And you have never really seen this song performed until you've seen THEM do it.

  • DUDE. the overtone at the end is sooooooo cool! if you know what i'm talking about like any other barbershopper, overtone is what makes it RING.

  • dude this is great man ur awesome

  • Wrong answer. Read the description.

  • dude he did do 32 voices ur mad becasue u cant do it as good

  • excellent work dude.

  • cool you did a good job

  • WOW!! amazing :D

  • soo.. and now with 32 voices :D

  • That's really awesome ! I rated it 5/5 :)

Thanks for that amazing a capella song !

  • Incrivel! Maravilhoso! (Awesome! Wonderful!)

  • You are a blessing. Amazing! Fabulous! Lots of hard work! Keep it up!

    Great job, mate.

  • THIS IS MAGICAL!!!!xD

  • This is absolutely stunning!

    goodness your so talented!

    AWESOME!

  • Now do "76 Trombones" a la Ambassadors of Harmony.

With choreography, against a blue-screen mapped to a stage with risers.

    160 tracks.

    ;-D

  • Ha! Would love to get my hands on that sheet music. Choreography, not so much. :)

  • Well, I was wondering how you'd manage to throw a couple of kid-sized versions of yourself into the air and behind you to other versions of yourself that would catch them, anyway. ;-)
