St. Paul said that God makes his choices in such a way to prove that whatever good there is comes only from him, and not from any human wisdom or virtue. Why do you insist on naming only the sins in the Church and not the even more impressive catalogue of goodness, holiness and uprightness that God's grace brought about in human hearts? The list is even longer!

Why not a book on the persecution of Galileo? Or the burning at the stake of Giovanni Bruno? Or the burning of the Knights templars? Or the massive tortures and murders of the Inquisitions? Or how about St. Barthalamuews massacre when they drew and quartered the "heretics". Or maybe the Cathars, whom they burned on a funeral pyre?

Actually, there is a book I can recommend: "When a Pope Asks Forgiveness." It is a collection of the many public confessions Pope John Paul II made for the sins of Catholics throughout history. The wonderful thing about Catholicism is that it allows repentance. Try it!
