@MrStartrace Try something easier. On your computers Windows Media player right click on Library and click on media sharing. Then click on settings and select what you want to share then click apply and your done. Anything in your "my videos, my pictures" will show up on the PS3.

Run PS3 Media Server(make sure you have Windows version, its the 2nd link like he corrected in his video annotations) & also, you have to go on PS3 Video, Music, or Pictures & click "Search for Media Servers." After 30seconds or so, it should say "1 Media Server Found" & then you select "PS3 Media Server on [computer]" & you can select your video/music/picture & stream or download to PS3.
