I couldn't agree more. When I hear things as sublime, intelligent, and classy as this it makes it makes it seem like we're just having a bad dream. Brilliance like this is just going to waste, we must fight, nou paka lage.
I'm trying to complete my collection of Ibo Combo cd's. I have "engendre, "cafe', "la vie musicien' (w/ herby widmaier). someone wrote that they made about 8 albums and i can find at belmizik.com, but i was disappointed. I can not locate "la fraicheure" or any album at bel mizik.com. please help! Also, thanks for posting this tube from "la fraicheure'. I would love to hear more. i love their style of music. thanks, cheers
Goddamn!!! I can honestly say that I have quite an extensive collection of vintage Haitian music. Including Ibo Combo. This album, however I missed completely. I hope the CD is available somewhere.
@vuzik4u Go on belmizik.com and buy all of Ibo combo CDs they have about 8 CDs total. Ah I just love kompa from that time the late 19 60s and ned 1970s.
My father is cool looking guy sitting in the brown. Claudi Jean rest in peace dad. I still have that album, hey I remembered the entire band. My dad used to take me to their rehearsals at La Boulle. He was a great guy my dad, coolest guy ever.
I would also like to say rest in peace to my elder cousin Robert Telson who passed a couple weeks ago. He produced this and many other records through Shango and Rotel Records (Rotel from RObert TELson). A piece of history Haitian has left with him. RIP Ti Bob. I love your very much.
Thank you juicearibe for sharing the hitstory. They are probably my wo favorite Haitian bands ever (and they don't have enough stuff on youtube! thats why I posted this).
FROM IBO COMBO TO CARIBBEAN SEXTET, Ibo Combo was playing in the difficult N.Y market of a growing Haitian Diaspora. After several songs that were more popular in Haiti than the Diaspora due to lack of network and media, most members of the band like Reginald Policard, Boulou Valcourt and the Laraque brothers returned to Haiti where they found fame as they changed the name of the band to CARIBBEAN SEXTET
regleo69, I only know of thos 4 albums. I don's see them on Belmizik either.
