The Traxas runs pretty fast and bouncing on the water your bound to hit a wave wrong.
We are not sure what really happen, but the faster you go the harder you hit.
Try using the metal hydroxide batteries first to get use to the boat.
Recommend you also have a rescue boat available. I have rescued lots of boats with the Atlantic Tug. If not, you can wait for the wind to push it to shore.
@Pomenis The boat wasn't mine, but tape may have helped. From what I have seen any boat going fast will eventually crash. I don't think he hit anything as much as it may have hit a wave wrong.
There were a number of crashes that day. Even my slow airboat will flip on occasion. One thing for sure, there were lots of people willing to help rescue.
LOL I used to use a fishing rod with tennis ball to fetch mine until it drifts too far away then you hope you have boaters around. Sent my mom racing to the store to buy dingy. That was 18 years ago, thinking about getting into it again for the days not so good for flying.
@hedgrenb The boat was fine. He was running again in about 20 minutes. One thing I have a concern about is that the hatch just popped off the hull leaving everything exposed. One more thing is that the boat was bobbing like a stopper with the motor submerged. It would be pretty hard to throw a tennis ball and line to retrieve it. The line would just bounce off.
Well, this fellow had gotten this boat a week ago and tried it out with lipos. During a high speed run it got unstable and tiped over. So today he adjusted the rear tabs and it flipped again. Don't know why yet.
Another boat that was a cat took off and he flipped his boat. Seems like people at high speed do experience these things. I have a spartan ordered. Make sure you have a tennis boat or a rescue boat near by.
You are such a hero man, keep up the good work!

Is this in San Francisco?
rcdudes123 8 months ago
@rcdudes123
This lake was created in 1903 within Golden Gate park by the City of San Francisco.
Ken who owns this boat I saw today at the lake. The guys out there do a great job in welcoming new
commers.

how did that happen. how did the boat get stuck like that?
dobyruler1 10 months ago
@dobyruler1 Nobody knows. At that high speed, full bore, it bounced on the water pretty good.
When water gets inside the boat goes nose up, because of the weight is in the tail. Probably some
foam at the back would help. Canopy also came off.

Nice way to get the boat back. Next time tape the hatch and it might help. What did he hit to do that?

great video, awesome idea on getting the Spartan back. What happens to the electronics, I know most are waterproof, but was everything OK?

@haroldsbeaver Invest in a 2 dollar roll of hatch tape, bro. Keeps your gear dry, and the hull from taking on water.
