@dhughes1969 No. An immersion heater is an electric element immersed in the hot water tank, usually used as a back-up to the main "boiler" which is usually powered by gas, because it is much cheaper. I don't think whoever wrote this sketch is an expert on plumbing as it seems to be a shower which combines the vices of both a shower fed from the hot water tank with an electric (cold fill only) shower.

@neilflynn 3rd world plumbing = no plumbing. Brits have the same thing we have everywhere. It just depends on:

1) How much your willing to dosh up for quality faucets

2) How often you replace or clean faucets / shower heads.

3) The quality / speed of heating of your boiler set up (is water sent halfway across the building? Is water pre-heated or heated as needed?)
