  • awesome dogs ... i have owned ridgebacks for 20years ...just awesome dogs ....loving , affectionate, extremely strong and punch much above their weight , very agile and athletic, ,protective , brilliant hunting dogs the only dog capable of hunting a lion and using its intelligence to out think one ...fact ....

  • Trot on The Ridgeback

    Proven dog for all occasions

    Cheers

  • the ridge in the ridgeback is a genetic defect, in fact the ones without the ridge are healthier they the once with the ridge and yet the healthier once are killed. Blame it on the disgusting, pathetic breeders.

  • I have a ridge back and will have ten when I get the room they are a fantastic dog I would trust them to guard my family no worries

  • we had ridgeback, i thinking that i get next... :) great clever dog

  • Ridgebacks as with most other breeds, reflect the intelligence of those who raised them.

  • I have 4 6 year olds, raised them from 6 months to now

  • @agendor101 Hey hey, I have a rottie that I brought from germany and a Ridgeback. They dont get along very well but the ridge always win when they fight. Even tho the rottie is a little bigger. The ridge is a massive dog and fearless. It is braver than the rottie. It is a good guardian.

  • @agendor101 it can handle an intruder alright 0:45

  • Such a great video!

    RR`s are the Rolls Royce-dogs!!

Not easy to handle for amateurs, BUT a pleasure for those, who LOVE basic instincts ; )

    Thanx for sharing!

  • These are the most beautiful dogs, in my opinion. They are truley handsome and well-rounded. Amazing creatures. If I had the knowledge, time, and space to successfully own one...I would have one in a heartbeat. Not to mention the difficulty to find a decent breeder.

    Gorgeous dogs.

  • @agendor101 They are great dogs, and I'd put a good ridgeback up against any home intruder. They are not huge, but they are incredibly solid...If I were a burglar and saw a ridgeback in your yard, I'd pick another house...just sayin'

  • @neverbad524 You are so damned right!

There is no better housekeeper I could imagine ; ))

  • @agendor101 I've heard they're great for that. Some of them are going to be bigger than others, but if they've got 'lion hunting' on their CV...I'd be inclined to thing that they'd be up to the task of challenging intruders.

  • what is the song called cause i love it

  • @agendor101 They are light??? LOL he is much more powerfull and more muscular than Doberman who is a much better guardian dog than a rottweiler...

  • We hd one he was the best! I still miss him! And they are good gard dogs! They'll do anything to protect 'their' family. They look al gracefull and peacefull n this movie but don't anger one. You'll regret it!

  • what song is this?

  • @agendor101 i have a Rhodesian that i had imported straight from Africa and he is prolly one of the most aggressive ridgebacks Ive ever owned....he is fine if i introduce him to friends that come over but if they decided to go out into the backyard without me he is a monster... Ive had several and Ive noticed that the African bloodline are much more aggressive ...best guard dog Ive had

  • Our ridgie we used to take camping with us everywhere. As a young pup he was very social with other dogs but as he grew older he became protective of our family and attacked not only male visitors but anyone we didn't know that used to come near our caravan and always went for their face! I must say he took a good bite of someone that jumped our fence one night, great security. I must say though, every dog has their own personality. He was very intelligent and great at tracking as well.

  • @lookalikeinmelb That's not typical RR behaviour. They shouldn't attack visitors or bite people.

  • @agendor101 lmfao Not sure if this dog is up to the job of a guardian? ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Ive owned 6.

Rotties have the intelligence of a 2y/o against this breed. Smartest, most loyal dog money can buy. If this breed thinks the shits goin down................Get ready. Pure evil animals. They feed off your reactions. If they attack, its what you want. Promise ya, get the fuck outta the way. Once again though. Smartest, most loyal dog ever.

  • great video!

  • My dog's a rhodesian

  • @agendor101 A "one man dog" highly intelligent (that is the opposite of "obedient") 55-60 beef is capable bring down what ever u like. But you, as you sounds, should study ur need first, then study dog needs, then maybe get a dog. Don't ever mess or play with RR. They are not ur average lap dogs.

  • 10th picture in after the title. AWESOME looking RR. Is it possible through training to get your Ridgeback to look like that or is it strictly genetics?

  • Awesome video, my ridgeback is14 months old and is more handsome than any of the dogs in this video. In my opinion anyway! Nice work!

  • @agendor101

My ridgeback is fully grown, 90 lbs, they are very good watch dogs. If I don't completely shut my back door and the wind blows it open my ridgeback will get up, pissed off. But he is more of a watch dog than a guard dog. If an intruder was actually there he would probably beg for a treat. If you have robbers or killers, get a doberman or rottweiler. If you have rabid, viscious, insatiable, killer lions... get a ridgeback.

  • My other half has had one for 13 yrs and she never let my girlfriend down, she walks side by side with my girlfriend off leash and dog never had any trainning and always attend the call from first time. So they are really good dogs and will guard the house no worries as my girlfriend's does

  • beautiful, elegant, well-muscled looking dogs. I love the color and the expressive foreheads that bespeak intelligence. Ridgebackx, so sorry you have lost your friend. All dogs go to heaven :)

  • @agendor101 My own ridgeback, who passed away last month, was defiantly the boss compared to the other RR in the house. Saying this she was very affectionate to strangers when we welcomed them into the house. I have however seen her go for someone trying to get over the garden fence. Even our youngest ridgeback, who is such a softie, has turned when he thought the home was under threat. Although they were not specifically bred to guard I've never underestimate one.

  • @ridgebackx Ridgebacks feed from thier masters intuition. If Im unsure, my Ridgebacks unsure. YOU MUST!!!! Introduce this breed to meeting strangers while its young. If not, It may kill someone. (Thinking its protecting you) Regardless, these are hardcore, best of the best, smartest dogs known.

  • grazie :-)

  • I own a fantastic RR (Zak) from pup to adult no bother house trained himself, super clever natural guard, nobody I mean nobody gets on my patch!! best dogs you can have within a family, love kids and totally fearless.

  • this makes me want to watch the lion but with ridge backs that would be kool :3

  • Spectacular!!! But I turned off the (horrible) music

  • il miglior cane del mondo

  • Nine shit for brains dislike this video.

  • @jjmag68 nine shit for brains lion fanboys Is another way to describe them :)

  • @jjmag68 Your one dumb fuck.

  • I have a lovely 10month girl called nala she is the best dog in the world!!!! Everyone should own a ridgeback!!!

  • @dan3431 Well, I really disagree with that. They ARE amazing dogs, but people who doesn't like to exercise shouldn't get a RR :-) I have a RR/lab-mix, and if was a clean ridgeback, I wouldn't have the time to exercise him enough :-) Nice dog, though.

  • I have a ridgeback, she's 7 years old, I got her when I was 7 and we bonded straight away, she is like my best friend she is very protective of me, and follows me everywhere . She's scared off 3 burglars from my house, she goes everywhere with me, and sleeps in my bed, and my advice for anyone looking for a dog who is fearless but affectionate aswell, then the ridge back is for you :D

  • Loved the vid, I love RR I'm called champ xx

  • We love our Ridgeback. His name is Apollo. Thanks for the cool vid!

  • They always have that look in their eyes like, hey wtf u doin? you on my property gtfo.

  • they're so muscular and sleek

  • A RRB that is laying around, is lonely with out a playmate, no open fields or beach and is feed junk.

    SAD

    Luckily my two are kings.

  • I am owned by two RRB brothers who 28 months old, and they not fixed/mutilated etc.

They have been angels since they were puppies, never destructive, but intuitive, gentle, but can get it up in bolt of light when the occasion calls for it.

By the way for those who live near a forest with ticks, using a Boar Bristle brush sprinkled with Rosemary oil and pure citrilnella has keep them bug free 100%

I would hate to use poison on these dear pals.

    They get along PERFECTLY!

  • What is the name of the male RR?

  • They're so majestic, the perfect dog.

  • great pictures

  • i best breed

  • I got this kind of dog. He is so lazy and such a slacker.

  • I have owned 3 African Lion Hounds over the course of my 50 yrs.My current one is a female red wheat liver nose . She 5 months weighs 61 lbs and 27 inch a her shoulders . Jolie Blon is her name and she is already a protector ,territorial but gentle hound. I have 4 grankids(1 to 6 yrs) and she is like a mother hovering over her children when they are here at the house. ALH to will always be the breed for me. O and by the way I also have 3 chihuahuas and they r her worst night mare (lol). Luv ALH

  • @popcap200 You are an idiot!!!

  • very nice. great vid. im looking to be getting a ridgeback puppy soon and have been looking online but cant seem to find the answer. do ridgebacks have webbed feet and do they like to swim? cuz i saw in the video of them jumping into the water

  • One of the best dogs ever! Ridgebacks are great, loyal, and beautiful!

  • they are such beautiful dogs

  • Comment removed

  • the song at the beginning scared me

  • wow very impressive craeature..this video is good because it shows these amazing pictures

  • they are the perfect dog, if you can afford to buy one. I have one, he's so perfect. great guard dog but he's a softy with 3 year old children.

  • Love these dogs and thanks for sharing this video........Fantastic breed

  • Pretttty doggg.

  • Ridgeback ar the most beatuful animals ive ever seen (L)

  • so beautiful

  • loyal dog, friendly dog, great with small children, very protective of it's owners but not vicious, very healthy, they live long, immune to insect bites, have like no health defects. One of the most perfect dogs you can get. Very smart though they will open doors and cupboards. mine like to pull the toilet paper roll off of the hook shaped toilet paper holder, he's figured out how to get it off somehow. Very smart dogs but very loving, smart and loyal.

  • well i have same about 17 ridgebacks and ridgeback is best dog i ever had he is tall strong and he is smart that is best hunter dog ever i bet 3 ridgebacks can take down lion ..... when i always coming home the jump over fences how happy they are to see me after work....a fence that is big like 2 - 3 meters ...... but they are best dogs i ever seen in my life...

  • im 12 yrs old and i have a male RR, he's 1 and hes great! u stupid people who are slagging them off are just plain silly! u cant slag them off if u haven't even had a dog!

    p.s. Dogs rule Cats Drawl! :}

  • Stunning creatures :)

  • i fucking love ridgebacks!! lush breed... id get one if i wasnt in the army.. nice vid : )

  • Awesome vid. The song is very fitting. Would love to send you pictures of my 5 month old ridgeback! :)

  • they dont look much scary or vicious which is good and bad but they are physically fitt

  • I have a ridgeback xD she is amazing !!

  • Beautifull video, I really like it! What's the song?

  • ridgebacks are so beautiful!!!!!! So regal looking! My family has had 5 of them an d they were all great!

  • whats the song

  • i really liked your video (the music choice was effective lol) :)

  • Wow...that still frame at 51 seconds is a marvel. I have a Ridgeback/Rottweiler cross, but she must be 99%+ Ridgeback gentically, because she's looks identical to this dog. What a beautiful picture, what a wonderful breed.

My dog is my running companion, on long treks through bush and up mountains...couldn't have found a better dog! 'on point', all the time, and athlete par excellence, and smart!

  • I have a Rhodesian Ridgeback name Ginger. She is really fun and funny. Loves to play and lick people. I think there the best bread they are fast, smart, fun, funny, strong, gentle, tough, and loving.

  • Nice video. Thanks for sharing. I think this breed of dog are wonderful, I didn't know about this breed until a few months ago. Next time I get a dog I will get a Rhodesian. Thanks again, I wish you the best.

  • This is great, These dogs are beautitful. And if they were sposed to keep Lions from villiages and keep the people safe, why wouldn't I want one home with my family...

  • beautiful breed.

  • Beautiful breed.

  • check out our video. you reckon our staffy has ridgeback in her? we are unsure of the dad?

  • This video is so cute, ridgebacks is so cute dogs.n the spring we are also one of those (:

  • woow in florida its like 700 for a puppy. lol

  • Hi. im thinking of getting a RR. Do you know where to get puppy RR. price range around 700 - 900 dollars. thanks =)

  • in canada it is 1500 ! 2 years waiting list too !

  • fajne połączenie

    daje 5/5

  • I have a 2 year old Rhodesian. They are very affectionate dogs and very good guard dogs. They are so nice but when they bark they and show teeth they look pretty scary. They are great with children though they are more bark than bite. But I wouldn't risk pushing a Rhodesian, if they feel threatened they will bite and it will cause you to lose a limb.

  • @landis69 I will put up a video of my rhodesian being manhandled by a 5 year old girl and he just puts up with it. Then I could show what he does when he feels threatened by someone he doesn't know on my property. They are very calm around people they know and very calm around small children, but if they catch the smell of someone they don't know they will wake up the whole neighborhood with their very loud bark.

  • @landis69 Don't take my comment as them being dangerous, because they are far from dangerous. They are just very protective of their family. they aren't biters, they will just corner you until their owners show up. My step dad had an incident where his Rhodesian wouldn't let the gas man leave for 4 hours until he showed up. It's in their nature to herd animals (lions) so they tend to herd people if they are trespassing.

  • 0:51 ...strange RR

  • Lionhounds sucks, they are a puppy mill don't get ridge backs there. they should be closed for abuse.

  • wtf are you talking about

  • Then please take this up with them and not me, I am not part of this particular breeder, thy are up on my info because the very first image belongs to them

  • Ha ha ha i just knew i was gonna get the you dont get cats doing what dogs do argument. Im so sorry as for the hint im lazy, im a spread its one of the toughest trades out there in the world. Anyway heres to you and your dogs.

  • Fair enough, the least you could do is research a bit into a breed next time before you try and slag it off. Thanks.

  • @MultiSpread can you read?

  • @MultiSpread - fuck cats. totally independent ... also totally bitchy and not loyal

  • This really makes me miss my RR. Rhino got better looking with age and lived to be about 16. :(

  • why bother commenting on my video if its just to slag off dogs? No ones comparing dogs to lions, dogs are not over rated and lets face it, to say about the walking issue just seems to bring up the fact that you must be really lazy. But dont worry Im sure dogs around the world wont be too offended by what you've just said.

  • @ridgebackx a good friend of mine has a ridgeback i have been walking him since he was a pup of and on ..he takes more notice of me than him at times lo hes stunning but when i go to his house to see him Floyd (the ridgeback) almost destroys the house in excitement love him love the breed nice clip thanks

  • @MultiSpread you seem to miss the point don't understand why you would even bother typing in ridgeback ? tell me whats that all about ..as for dogs being stupid don't see many cats protecting your house sniffing out drugs weapons money trapped people walking the blind doing agility or simply fetching a stick for that matter still am sure sure there's many yt clips of fluffy cats for you to look at enjoy

  • Cat doesnt spell GOD backwards

  • @MultiSpread I like cats too, but what kind of cat would you rather have? You can't own a Lion or Tiger obviously so you can just own a regular house cat unless you get a serval or something (If your state allows it). Dogs are great pets and protectors, and yes these dogs are brave enough to hunt Lions in Africa so they are far from overrated.

  • @MultiSpread cats dont really care about anyone but themself

  • @MultiSpread First of all why do you think they call Dogs man's best friend? It's not cats. Dogs are social creatures that need love and attention where as cats are ok being on their own. You can't play fetch with a cat or bring them to a beach like you can with dogs. To each their own but for many dogs are a perfect pet to have around. You also can't have "Guard Cats". Dogs protect people.

  • @MultiSpread hmmmm cats and dogs are different. Dogs are social and loyal cats are solitary and independant. I prefer dogs because they are friendlier in general but i like cats too. Dogs are not stupid, neither are cats. Cats rub against you because they don't like human smell they like everything to be theirs and smell of cat where a dog is happy to do what you want and you can't really compare a domestic cat to a lion its like comparing a chiuaua to a wolf.

  • @MultiSpread You truly are an idiot with no knowledge of dogs.

  • @MultiSpread lol this stupid fascination with dropping your 5 cents when you just look like a dick is "just stupid"

fuck off and fuck your fleshlight.

  • @MultiSpread And when your outside or meet someone, how the FUCK is your little puny ass cat gonna defend you? Fuck cats

  • beautyfull.!

  • the best photos of ridgeback`s I`ve ever seen..... :0

  • There is no way in hell that a dog is beating a lion. it doesnt even make sense. Lions are man eater dogs are just dogs. lions can way up to 500 pounds. and they are complete savages thats why they live in jungles. as for a tiger i wont even go into that.

  • they were used to gaurd the villages and farm animals in africa

THEY CAN chase lions off in packs off atleast 4

plus these are the orriginal ones

the african ones who are bred to defend are obv bigger and meaner than these

  • @MultiSpread you really are an idiot

  • Thanks for all your comments. But please don't write negative comments about my dogs or Ridgebacks in general, your comments will just be deleted , =]

  • i wanna go watch the lion king now

  • hahaha

  • Because you do not know them. They are the absolute best dog breed on the planet.

  • I've herd it said that dogs sometimes look like their owners. The dog at 1:20 looks like Ian Smith!

  • A hunting pair of these Rhodeys will take down a mountain lion.

  • @cellavb447 they actually hunt lions in packs of like 8-12. rhodesians are fearless but 2 is not enough against a lion.

  • YAY! i useto have a ridgeback x german shepherd named Stryker his mum was a pure bred that accidentally had pups to a german shepherd that jumped the fence the owner of his mum was giving the pups away for free

  • Great vid. Thx.

  • in europe they are often a bit smaller.. mine is a bit smaller, but she's a girl so that can be the point too...

  • Incredible digs. They were originally meant to take down lions so if your lazy, don't get one.

  • The Dog Collar's are by Garmin, Astro 220

A-1. Very well made and my two buddies have not damaged them one bit.

I don't use them all the time, I use them to understand their routine's and give them heck when they go in One Direction I do not want them to go.

These dogs are intelligent but they are not listed as the smartest simply because they will nor always come you when they get a scent etc.

They are intuitive and smart and need open spaces, breeding/buying ?

    Please Ponder it

  • i didnt realize how muscular these dogs are....they look ripped. lol

  • i love ridgebacks!!! theyre such awsome animals fun and very protective

  • awesome song!!!!!

    LION KING!!!!!!!!!!

ridgebacks are a fine example of what a

guard dog should be tall, big strong, they can run at such a rapid speed!!!

    thats y i got one!!!

  • I had my first ridgeback when I was 7. We quickly bonded and he became very protective of me. Unfortunately he died recently when we had found out he had numurous cancer tumours in his chest area. What is said about them really is true and to me RR's make even better companions than any human. I am 15 now but I deffinately plan on breeding these animals in the future.

  • 0:22 looks exactly like my neighbors rideback, Tex.

  • This is my dog.

  • i had a ridgeback. She was my best friend and lived 16yeears. I'll never forget her My SISTER (cry)

  • i hav a RDR there awesome fun but very strong

  • I have a rhodesian and she is solid muscle, they're actually extremely powerful.

  • Letting Ridgebacks play with collars on is very dangerous. They can very quickly get caught in a friends' collar and strangle the friend. Never let your Ridgeback play with a collar on -- you may not be able to separate them. I know of several dead Ridgebacks from playing with collars!!!

  • What?

I have two RRB brothers 16 months old and that is Non Sense LOL.

    Trolling?

Fromms for my two buddies was a lucky find for me and them.

  • hiya, i have a ridgeback; great dogs love them! very loyal dogs and they hunted lions. mines only 8 months though dnt think she will be getting up things like that so fast!- u can see pictures of her on TheLauraAdam chanal (plz watch!!) thx from TheLauraAdam!!

  • Did you guys know, that these dogs where used to kill lions in packs, if the lion treathens there sheeps or anything, they used these dogs to kill or chaze the lion away...

Really wonderfull for dogs being able to do that dont you think :D

Wish my Jack Russel could do that haha!

  • @JoeDutchCoast , thats not right "these dogs where used to kill lions". Video is my favorite

  • In a large pack these brave dogs were capable of killing a lion but, it might cost several dogs their lives. It is very true that these dogs have little or no fear. Probably the only fear they have is of not having someone or something to play with. They do well as a single dog but, come to life when others are around. Great pets, better companions, one of the best family dogs ever. They have a personality all their own. I'm not given to humanizing animals but Ridgies do have some kind of soul.

  • True my two buddie's thrive for having each other and they are 17 months now and these brothers get along perfectly, but body slam in mid air and roll over each other. They can run for an hour easy and come back. I have GPS collars and let them lose in the mountain Forest.

  • It's just a pure joy to watch these beautiful animals run and play. The only thing better is a boxfull of RR puppies playing at about 4 weeks old. They just play til they fall asleep. I don't know what it is about their eyes but sometimes they look at you like they know what you are thinking. It's spooky but reassuring at the same time. I love my German Shepherd puppy but I really need another RR to make the pack complete again. When one of the older dogs are gone maybe another RR puppy.

  • I gotta get me one of those GPS collars, how much do they cost? My Ridgeback is normally more than exceptional of the lead, hardly ever leaves my side, but it's always good to make sure.

  • Glorious Dogs - Wonderful pictures - Beautiful music -

    Thank you x

  • very nice video :D

i have an RR. but when i compare her with the dogs in your video she looks a little fat xD.

    5*

  • Ein hammer geiles Vid. sehr gut gemacht

  • wat are some good rhodesian ridgeback names? for a boy

  • I have one : D shes really nice+ fat -.- tehe she has cusions disease buh shes fine : D i alse have a greyhound and a rotwieller/german sheperd mix named moose : D

  • they are beautiful dogs absolutly gorgous XXX

  • RR´s are the greatest !!!

    Nice Vid !

  • que perros tan hermosos no sabes que ganas tengo de comprar uno de estos . en eso hando proximamente lo tendre

  • i have a lab cross rr he is buitiful i will make a response vid very soon

  • i have a boxer mix RR hes real nice and playful with kids

  • this dogs are the wonderfullest !!! and the video is most beatiful

  • speed and agility, strength and power, energy and endurance, class and charisma ...

all this in a dog... the RR is the best dog in this world

congratulations for your examples, they are wonderfull!

  • I have one, and I never loved a dog so much, although I had many all my life. This one is so clever, all for sports, great companion and highly educated, it's an amazing "son". I advice it to everyone who wants to get a dog :)

  • lol my shiba inu puppy ( 12 weeks old ) played a few days ago with a rhodesian ridgeback ( 2 years old ) and he won hahah

  • looks just like my american lab. Yes, I said american lab. there are 2 types of lab. the amreican is taller, and thinner. the english is shorter, stalkier, and have a slightly wider head. regardless, I want to get a female ridgeback to mate with my male american lab. they would make a very well rounded home defense dog.

  • Are you on drugs or something! If you are talking about show standards there isnt much difference, if you are talking about shooting strains they vary greatly... if have two donkeys of labs of pure FT Breeding... as for the home defense, just stick with a RR, thats not what labs are for, crossing them wont add any value

  • I know that. My lab isn't AKC registered anyway, so I wouldn't expect to get much out of any puppies he may have. Some labs have been used as guard dogs, but it is very rarely. My lab is a big baby. He's a good watch dog, but I don't know about a guard dog. He probablly would do something if someone were to threaten our family, but I don't know what it would take to get him to that point.

  • How about not breeding your dog at all, considering that it isn't AKC registered and there is already a massive over population of dogs in America.

  • Are these dogs good swimmers? I am considering to get one of them.. Thoughts?

  • why u wanna go diving with the dog?hahaha ffs

  • Mine used to love the water, beaches ponds especially where they can ghet in and out easily on their own...not so find of the pool...
