Oh, Autocar measured the Megane's 0-100mph time as faster than the Focus. Any 4WD car with the same power will win off the lights due to it's traction. The Megane would beat the Focus RS and S3 round a track all day long.

I am not wrong it says here in the auto klub magazine the price i mentioned.

also 30 000€ for 264 HP means you are paying 113.63€ for a HP

and 26.650€ for 250 HP means you are paying 106.60€ for a HP

The Renault Megane R.S. offers more HP for the price.

Unfortunately the car is not available any more in 2010, it was produced 75.000 times but i guess there are hughe amount of cars still in the showroom or a year old for best bang for the money. Asuming a car in the showroom costs 26k and a year old maybe 21k? its very cheap! and cheaper then Renault and dont forget u get a convertible with rear wheel drive and better looks for the same money and more HP. then Autobild is wrong because the Opel GT costs 30K UVP and in the net you found new ones for about 26K a year ago, now its out of production! 21k was for a used one, you have to read. Who cares which one is faster on a track, nobody will drive them on a track :) the autobahn counts and a sprint duel :) and the GT probably win it :) also more fun with RWD! bith can be chipped, GT to 300HP with RWD its great with front acceleration its not good :(

I tell u another thing, prices depend from country to country, also in the EU. In the Netherland you can get the new "Seat Leon Cupra R" Model 2010 with 265HP for 24,400 Euro with 19inch alloys, so the Renault Megane isnt the only cheap car with high HP.Now thats a bang for the money :) Its 92 Euro for a HP :)

who knows? no independend racing driver tested it yet, most times comes from manufactor and are not trustable, they also trick a lot with slick tires and racing fuel or change suspension. I can imagine all cars i mentioned are relativly even and the difference is not from interest in normal life, you are not racing driver and i am also not a racing driver, thats why for me is important acceleration on autobahn and 0-100 on traffic light :) S3 and Focus RS win here.

yes but the times are not from greater interest, i give u example. Volkswagen for example always use conservative setup for their "sport" Models, it always have comfort, like Mercedes. The cars tested are all stock. Some manufactors use more sporty setup for their cars. If u want to race with the car at nurburgring u can still upgrade it with tyres and racing suspension, engine chip etc. Most cars have lower times cause of conservative setup, its still a road car!

yes, but you cant change it i think, u need another gearbox but also depends what wheels are on, with 19 inch wheels its usually slower acceleration.

but torque is probable the most important, i think the Focus RS will win here, BMW is NA but 3,0 is always good for autobahn :)

so i am not a racing driver and im not interested in Lap times, what counts for me is to be faster then other cars on Autobahn or traffic lights etcc, so i look at Horse Power and weight of the car and 4WD would be nice. When a Megane RS comes behind my ass i just go on the throttle and he is away :) when i would have S3 or Focus RS :)

where? on the streets? all cars will handle fast corners in a city lol, most sprint duells are straight line and like i said only race drivers will feel a difference on a race track, not in city traffic.probably 99% of the buyers cant go with the car to limit and have fear to crash in fast corners.

yes but if u want a race with another car its too dangerous and also the car will be the smallest factor, a better driver will win even with Corsa OPC i guess. Yes BMW M is great but to expensive. Im searching also for the best value for money.Opel GT is now the cheapest and Seat Leon Cupra R but the new Leon is ugly in my mind and the scirocco R2 is expensive. Renault looks good but its french in the end and Renault malfunction too often, also interior dont look nice. Opel Gt is best for me

@sharpanator if you are referring to the Opel roadster, then yes, it has a good engine and is very fast in a straight line, but the MX5 2.0 can be faster cornering even being much less powerful, and the interior is not very good and one of the less practical of all roasters. With roof down, almost no boot at all, no door pockets I think, no transmission tunel pocket either... but good punch per price. Although pointless comparing it with sport hatches, that would be the 240bhp Opel GTC OPC.

it is not pointless to compare it with hatchbacks because we are talking about the car with the biggest punch for money if you saw my other posts, the Opel GT is currently cheaper then Astra OPC and more powerfull, of course its out of production since last year but still some in the showrooms. I doubt that MX5 is faster in corner, the Opel GT has perfect weight balance, and also slip diff, car testers were surprised cause this is an Opel that handles in corners.
