  • great sounds from both. I prefer the ac15 at the specific volume. Congratulations.

  • Damn, the 15 wins by a mile. much chrisper pronounced sound.

  • @Gixxer983 Agreed. It is a very subjective thing but

  • I love my AC15c1 with the alnico blue. I AB it with my Super Reverb and get my blues on.

  • Like the AC-15 better... The AC-30 sounded a little bit twangy.

  • I'm a novice and thanks for shedding some light in the matter!

  • youve got to be careful of mic clipping.

  • i have the AC30c2 from ebay and the dude sent it with mullard power tubes and tung sol preamps and i did a side by side comparison with them and the stock ones and WOW, it is really worth upgrading the tubes, much warmer with a smoother tone without losing any chime.

  • @BCGadgets awesome thanks for the heads up. I hear a lot of good things about Mullard tubes! I'll check into it when the current set finally expire :)

  • I've always had a problem with the Vox combos. A friend of mine had several vintage Vox heads, and you could play them through different speaker cabs, different speakers, closed/open backs etc... and the tonal differences were just amazing. With the combos, I've always felt limited. But what a limit. Stuck between killer, and killer. At least with the vintage Vox style amps, you can't lose.

  • Your blues playing and tone really kick ass.

  • @pinksynth thanks for the nice comments mate :)

  • I've got to get my hands on a vintage AC30 one of these days. That's the Brian May sound right there!

  • Wow vox against vox !! Okay the ac 15...awesome amps....

  • AC30 has the higher headroom, and with these being recorded at the same volumes, the AC15's gonna break up earlier and sound rawer, an AC30 in halfpowered mode would've been a better match.

  • whoa! i prefer the ac15.

  • i purchased a vox ac30c2 on ebay and it came with tung sol preamp tubes and mullard el84s and it kicks ass, i recomend upgrading the tubes

  • oh god my dream gear is an ibanez as 53 red woth a vox ac 30 and a mesa boogie dual rectifire any thumbs up haha !

  • No doubt. The AC15 wins this round.

  • @ec101dm yeah I noticed that too, it should be the other way around, it might be the mic placement

  • @ec101dm doubt

  • @ec101dm I think VOX wins this round

  • How would they sound together?

I bet it would be awesome.

    Nice playing by the way.

  • I wonder how the new Vox AC15C2 would compare against a AC30.

  • @sokka06

i just bought an AC15C2 and it is signifacantly louder than the AC15 with one 12" speaker. same tone as the AC15 but bigger. still dosent sound the same as an AC30 though.

  • @nathanielrhysdavis do you recommend to get an ac30 over the ac15?

  • Great job! I own the ac15c1, and like it, you're getting some great tone out of it. The ac30 sounds more full, but that's the only real difference to me sitting on this side of the screen. Does your ac30 have Greenbacks too, or blues?

  • @jlovinlummus Thanks. I'm a greenback fan, both of the amps have those :)

  • @jlovinlummus They sound equivalent to me, too, with the extra fullness of the 30 probably being due to the cabinet size. I like the tightness of the 15 better.

  • I feel like the AC30 has more of a "full" sound, yet the AC15 covers more of the higher spectrum of notes. To be perfectly honest, I like the sound of the AC15 more, it's really nice. I'm getting an AC15, then. Unless my local store's AC30 happens to magically be better than an AC15.

  • Is this the ac15c1?

  • just wonder what on what aspect you abandoned the Fender amps. more clean headroom on the voxes?

  • hey mate. nice to hear an Aussie accent! cool video. unfortunately the one thing a youtube vid will never show is the difference between a 1X12 cab and a 2X12 cab .I own both the AC15C1 and the AC30C2X - there is no question which is the better sounding amp - the AC30C2X is bigger, louder, fuller, more dynamic, a bigger soundstage and most importantly... more richer harmonically.

price and weight are insignificant compared to tone!

  • It depends on what you are playing.....

  • i think that the price is the real factor for me and im not sure if id really need a 30 watt. it would be nice, but i would only go for the ac30 if i find a killer deal as opposed to ac15.

but it does sound like the 30 is restricting itself greatly at that volume. and its just screaming "take that master and turn it 3 rotations clockwise!" lol but a good demo. thanks

  • Wonder if its the size of the box making the difference? What guitar were you using sound killer! both green backs?

  • Wonder if its the size of the box making the difference? What guitar were you using sound killer!

  • @kissrocks45 Oh I see the tele:)

  • Comment removed

  • have you had any experiences with the valve reactor versions of any of the amps? btw, you've got some serious skill.

  • Both good. I assume these are Chinese made Voxes. Are these reliable amps?

  • @Stratboy999 Yeah man, both are. They are really reliable unlike the 30-40 year old originals ;) Zero problems in terms of reliability. I use one or the other at least twice a week live and they are rocking

  • @intheblues I have a bit of an aversion to outsourced gear, especially amps but I think I might give one of these a go. Good tone.

  • Awe, the 15 sounds so raw and snotty, granted they are very tonally similar. Nice demo and comparison Shane.

  • @ArielsSmartyPants Cool! thanks man :)
