Happy Independence Day to all fellow Rhodesians. November11th; the day we stood up to Britains' perfidity. Fourteen glorious years that I will treasure for the rest of my life.
Zimbabwe has recently been allowed back into the Kimberly Process so her blood diamonds are now legal on the world market. Another sad day for the people of Rhodesia/Zimbabwe as they continue to be tortured and oppressed whilst Mugabe and his merry men get richer and richer.
I am sorry to say that Tsvangarai is no longer the very brave man he used to be, standing up and defying Mugabe's every machination. He is right in bed with him now. It will be interesting to see how the next elections turn out.
With all due respect to theose affected by the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, they can barely imagine the pain inflicted by the betrayal on our Rhodesian nation with our very soul ripped out of us and no compensation whatsoever. The American politician, Pat Buchanan once so aptly said "There is no greater loss than the loss of one's country." Thanks Wilson and thanks LBJ.
Eleventh of November, the real day of Independence for Rhodesia/Zimbabwe. Britain reneged on her promise to give us our independence, so we took what belonged to us and for fourteen years we were "truly independent" and our country thrived. In 1980 Zimbabwe became "independent" and recognised by the whole world. Sad thing is that the election in 1980 was anything but "free and fair "and since 1980 the country has been dependent upon food aid and engulfed in bribery, corruption and torture.
Let us pause and remember the eleventh of November 1965, the day we chose to declare our independence from Britain whom we fought and served for in two world wars; having promised us our independence,Britain reneged and the country today is country is paying dearly for Britain's perfidity.
@garylerouex ...nope....IDS was ranked right up there with Pol Pot and Idi Amin. Bet he told you that he created the "bread basket of Africa" and I bet you believed him. Which African countries did Rhodesia supply with food? IDS built a house of cards....it inevitably crumpled. Move on.
Suryavajra; it's all fine and well talking about Constitutional Rule. Ian Smith did his upmost to prevent an extremist government taking over as he knew the incoming dictator would not respect the minority peoples' rights. In the 60's he was handpicking a few moderates he had confidence in to future rule Rhodesia. However the onslaught from the marxist extremists and the betrayal from our founding nation,Britain, sealed our fate.
Suryavajra; yes,Ian smith was expressing the inherent pitfall of majotity rule to an imminent dictatorship;the world was blinded by lies and the local population were intimidated not to see the truthful facts to which the dictator was leading them into.
My interpretation of his statement is that Ian Smith did not want a black extremist government ruling Rhodesia and that's unfortunately exactly what they got!
you know Garyleroux, I think what the student said goes to the heart of what government should be or represent.
In between the positiions of minority rule vs. majority rule, there is a center. Constitutional Rule. A system in which the majority rules, but the minority's fundamental rights, ineed the rights of all individuals are protected from the whims of a demogogue or a dictator.
Here in the US, people too often forget that we are not a pure Democracy. We are a Republic designed with checks and balances that prevent any one part of the government or a faction or an individual from becoming too powerful for his own good.
Going back Africa, if your entire basis for ruling came from majority rule, what is to prevent the majority from tyrannizing the minority?? What's to prevent the 51% from completely dominating the 49%??
Or at a more basic level, one tribe dominating another?? Well the answer is that nothing would prevent that from happening if your entire claim to rule was majority rule.
Much like our Founding Fathers here in the US, I believe that Ian Smith was expressing the inherent pitfall of majority rule ie ''Pure Democracy'' and how that in and of itself would lead to dictatorship.
But his ideas were recieved by a skeptical outside world as a message of racism instead of as a warning.
@suryavajra ...imagine the ethnic Tamils in the US declaring Independence and and stating that only they could vote or go to the cinema. They then go and state that they will banish the white majority population to the ghettos of Compton and Harlem and force them into effective slave labour. Its laughable isnt it? That why we laugh at the Rhodesians - silly political model, unintelligent and crass leader........it was always going to end up in tears. Thank goodness for the sanity of the Brits
Why do you make up these silly scenarios when you know full well that the British oppressed Whites, Blacks and Asians throughout the old British Empire?? Sanity of the Brits, old boy??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Garylerouex, get a load of Perfidious Albion here....
You're so silly El Zingbo....lol! Everyone knows that the old British Empire established a Tyranny of Evil Men on Whites, Blacks and Asians spanning 1/3 of the Earth. And you're talking about the sanity of the Brits, old boy?? HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Garylerouex, are you getting a whiff of the Perfidiousness here?
Let us not forget the words of the black student who was interviewed by CNN during the stolen election in 2002 at the University of Zimbabwe and I quote"When Ian Smith said never in 1000 years will there be majority rule;I TRULY believe by that he meant that there is a future for this country".Very interesting interpretation and for it he was expelled from the faculty. Our country needs more people like him.GOOD MAN where ever he is today.
Suryavajra, thank you,I' m glad you like the song;I hope it pricks the conscious of many world leaders! Yeah the MDC should take over the Ministry of Agriculture and all the other ministries too but cunning Mugabe has them cornered and they really have no power.I was really against this coalition from day 1 as I knew Mugabe would get up to his tricks. The MDC have won the elections since '02 and "democracy should be enforced, but we know that is not going to happen.
Suryavajra, thanks for coming on my site.I'm not sure what is going on there as since February they have been only dealing in U.S $, Pounds,Rands and Pulas as you know the zim $ is history;it kind of seems like they have wiped the slate clean but i'm not sure. But yeah the MDC have one hell of a task in front of them with all the other issues and they are not getting any help from their partner.
There is at least food back on the shelves;and this is because the MDC is running the Ministry of Finance. Within just a few weeks the MDC has shown they can do a better job than the ruling party zanu pf who over a period of 29 years have destroyed the "Jewel of Africa"
Hugo Chavez, you are the biggest racist of all and you need serious help.Your command for the english language leaves much to be desired. You should have got yourself an education in Rhodesia!Your morals too are very suspect as you make fun of the suffering of my people and one does not need to be religious to work that out.
haha! u know he has the diamonds now?! there prbly unfourtunately isnt anything stopping him now, but seriously enough of all this white stuff, there were never that many whites there, and u whites always think of urselves! seriosuly grow up u racist bastards rhodesia was a racist fascist country! and good godd u guys are hella old fashiond and religious too seriously grow up! and u and the blacks are all fucks down there, get along u guys! im white in europe btw, we learnd from our mistakes.
Blood Diamonds in Zimbabwe-Mugabe had his army execute over 150 miners trying to make an existence in Manicaland. If the world would get it's act together this is a carbon copy case of what got Sadaam Hussein convicted and executed.
Another example of British deviousness:The Queen of England apologised to Ian smith at the Talks in '79 for the raw deal the British politicians dealt to Rhodesia and then went on to serve the Knighthood on Robert Mugabe(the world's worst Dictator-Parade Magazine,March 2009)She should have served it on Ian Smith for standing up to Britain's treachery!
sacoolman, thanks for the comment, and thanks for your brave service to Rhodesia.Isn't it amazing how we could lose our country through all the lies and deception yet in just three days we eradicated close on 5000 communist terrorists(chimoio,Nyandzonya and Westland Farm.Food for thought!!
It's a real shame that more people don't know what is happening in Zim right now. All the focus is on Darfur, Somalia and Malawi. I grieves me to see these people suffer at the hands of this evil man!
He believes that God put him there and he is doing good. But one day he will stand before his Maker and see the truth.
Good job on this song, hun. You are getting the word out and bringing awareness.
"Oh why, should we become another Darfur or another Rwanda?Or does anyone really care?-The major powers of the world primarily Britain and America did/does not care about Rhodesia/Zimbabwe.If they have something to gain from it then they will interfere!!........Hope you liked the entire breakdown of the song!!!
"Democracy is being tainted"-just like in almost all countries in Africa there are democratic elections held once and then it is one party rule after that.
"Our civilization is dying"-the ruling party;communist Zanu Pf tortures, rapes and other deeds I do not want to even mention;there is no rule of law-total uncivilization!Rhodesia was a civilized country.Shame on all those responsible for her downfall;SHAME,SHAME,SHAME!
"No more violence and intimidation"-this is no way to win the hearts and minds of your constituants.True democracy cannot be held where there is violence and intimidation therefore the 1980 election should have been declared null and void but Perfidious Albion (Devious Britain did not care about that!
"You might think you can put him six feet under"-Mugabe has been trying to put Tsvangirai six feet under since the '02 election but "Our Heavenly Father is watching from up above"
"And one day God will judge you for your horrific deeds"-my favourite line in the entire song;Mugabe has committed incredibly horrific deeds to our people from the Elim Mission Massacre to the current day massacre of our people from cholera and everything else inbetween!!
"Rhodesia was good"-no it was amazing, despite fifteen years of sanctions prompted by our betrayal founder Perfidious Albion(Britain) and backed to the hilt by her bed buddy spineless America,we stillhad the lowest cost of living in the world, with an inflation and unemployment rate of about 3%-compare that to current 231 billion %.My oh my the world was lied to about Rhodesia!...PAMWE CHETE-only the best will do!!
"Tsvangirai is brave,he risks his life for Zimbabwe"-Yes he is extremely brave and having been tortured and abused year after year he is trying desperately to bring the country back to it's former glory and civilised state.
"Oh won't you step down and relinquish your power"-not a hope in hell will he do that.He has robbed the people of Rhodesia/Zimbabwe blind. He thinks he is the 'father of the nation',yet he tortures and enslaves us.The real father of the nation was Ian Smith but the world was unfortunately blind to see that.
"The MDC really won the election in 2002"-but Mugabe through his evil machinations removed polling booths where the opposition was strong and through his usual violence and intimidation cheated the MDC of a well deserved victory and he did it again in March '08!!
"Please Mugabe won't you free our souls"-after having intimidated, tortured and enslaved our people since 1962 is there any decency left in him to free the people of our nation from our misery!!
"Sometimes I wish I could escape and fly away"-I was fortunate to escape but as I wrote these lyrics my heart went out to those who are not able to escape, and those who try relentlessly to escape to South Africa and even if they do make it in they are often abused and taken.advantage of.
That's right the world turns a blind eye to the pain of the people of Rhodesia/Zimbabwe when they needed help the most but were quick to offer military aid to the communist zanu pf and intimidate a humble and sweet nation of people into a quagmire of devastation and poverty from a once wealthy country;shame be on those responsible-they know who they are!
"Finally, let me once again refer to what must go down in history as one of the most devious and blatantly dishonest actions of a British Government: The failure to abide by the terms of the Lancaster House agreement concerning the 1980 election."Quote Lord Soames-"I am afraid Mr Smith, that the principles and standards on which you and I were brought up to believe in, are no longer part of this world".
R.I.P; Ian Smith. The world did not know the truth about you, but they sure are feeling it!!
