I have only just read these comments so the answer is a bit late to Gilwitton...yes Candy Choir did release this song as a single and they were Barry's backing group on the LP...

Another lovely song and tune I discovered after buying the LP " Barry Ryan sings Paul Ryan " in Ramsgate in July 1969 !
This LP was really stunning !
A shame we can't hear the whole song here.
