Nirvana changes lyrics a lot. Listen to the solo acoustic demo of you know you're right! He doesn't even say " you know you're right" plus, instead of saying " pain " he says "greed" and most other lyrics are changed.

he does not say "Pain" in YKYR, its just "Hey". the vocal track confirms this. and the boxset version sounds more like "dream" to me, but who knows with that version

I'm not a big Nirvana fan, but Pay to Play usually entails that bands pay the club a fee to play the show and if they make more money than that at the door, they spit the difference with the club. Another form of Pay to Play is that the band either buys, or is given, tickets from the club and must sell those to their friends and fans and then keep the money as payment. Many bands just give away the tickets to get people in the show rather than not be able to sell them and play to an empty house.

Pay to play was actually the early version of Stay Away so its not really a change on words, this was the way the song was originally. If you want a studio version I got the outcesticide vol 1 on my page.
