I think the fuse may have had excess flash powder on it, causing it to burn almost instantly. Please, check your fuses to make sure its the right one and wipe off any flash powder.

First off I want to say that I don't claim to know squat about firework fuses. Yes I know the thicker green and red ones burn slower, but any kid who's ever thrown firecrackers before knows that even the thin grey fuses in those can be unpredictable and occasionally one is going to burn really fast, and might cause the firecracker to blow up in your hand. That said you should take special care with larger explosives like m-80's and m-100's and whatever was in this video. They will mess you up.

A defective fuse is unlikely. Defective fuses usually burn out before lighting the firework. If it lights the firework then it did exactly what it was supposed to do and was not defective. The problem lies in the type of fuse he used. There are several different fuses all with different burn rates and he likely used a fast fuse not knowing the difference. This looks to be a homemade device by someone who didn't do enough research. Novices should use electric match or equivalent

even if it was illigal and foraign they use the same or a similar fuse to the american green visco fuse, In Mexico for example they use a red isco fuse which is yes faster burning but is still slowand safe, things like this should not happen to any firework legal or not but somthing must have happend because it doesen't usually come ready to blow in your face

@wraith0127 I have been in the pyro world for 5 years and have been to the factory where this fuse is made, It burns slowly (not quickly) because the green wire covering adds fuel to the meal blackpowder inside he fuse this adding of fuel slows down the fuse to a steady rate of 30 seconds per foot. I hae never in all my years heard of a defect where it burns too quickly. He either lit it in the wrong place or messe with it somehow.

Let me stress again, he purchased this particular firework on the "black market" so to speak. I'm not sure of the country of origin, but it was certainly NOT a legal Class C pyrotechnic explosive for use by citizens of the USA. The key word is "illegal" firework.

@freedome25 It was a fast burn fuse, it burned up within .5 seconds and left him NO TIME to run away. You may think he had time from how I edited the video, but if you see the original, he had .5 seconds to get out. Almost faster than you can blink your eye.

First off I want to say that I don't claim to know squat about firework fuses. Yes I know the thicker green and red ones burn slower, but any kid who's ever thrown firecrackers before knows that even the thin grey fuses in those can be unpredictable and occasionally one is going to burn really fast, and might cause the firecracker to blow up in your hand. That said you should take special care with larger explosives like m-80's and m-100's and whatever was in this video. They will mess you up.

A defective fuse is unlikely. Defective fuses usually burn out before lighting the firework. If it lights the firework then it did exactly what it was supposed to do and was not defective. The problem lies in the type of fuse he used. There are several different fuses all with different burn rates and he likely used a fast fuse not knowing the difference. This looks to be a homemade device by someone who didn't do enough research. Novices should use electric match or equivalent

even if it was illigal and foraign they use the same or a similar fuse to the american green visco fuse, In Mexico for example they use a red isco fuse which is yes faster burning but is still slowand safe, things like this should not happen to any firework legal or not but somthing must have happend because it doesen't usually come ready to blow in your face

@wraith0127 I have been in the pyro world for 5 years and have been to the factory where this fuse is made, It burns slowly (not quickly) because the green wire covering adds fuel to the meal blackpowder inside he fuse this adding of fuel slows down the fuse to a steady rate of 30 seconds per foot. I hae never in all my years heard of a defect where it burns too quickly. He either lit it in the wrong place or messe with it somehow.

@gothbro111 Yes, in Class C fireworks for consumers in the United States, all starting fuses must be the green slow burn fuse. Let me stress again, he purchased this particular firework on the "black market" so to speak. I'm not sure of the country of origin, but it was certainly NOT a legal Class C pyrotechnic explosive for use by citizens of the USA. The key word is "illegal" firework.

@freedome25 It was a fast burn fuse, it burned up within .5 seconds and left him NO TIME to run away. You may think he had time from how I edited the video, but if you see the original, he had .5 seconds to get out. Almost faster than you can blink your eye.
