  • The Boondocks is well known for putting in great music from Underground rappers and classical/Jazz rap, and music like this. The rap songs in these episodes aren't garbage either like the mainstream shit, and it sounds good.

  • This brought tears to my eyes as well. A great episode.

  • Touching.

  • First time ever seeing this episode. This is the bomb. Combines three of my favorite things. Paintin' grafitti Pete Rock and CL Smooth and a thugged out Bob Ross. -_-

  • This is a good song..

  • @iIzzyRoi isn't there a rap version of this song?

  • @daniellexodrake No.There is a song that used part of it as a beat. The song is called They Reminisce Over You by Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth.

  • it's younger Granddad and his wife. Why would Granddad have the wedding photos of his kids?

  • @JanesInChains1990 There is the possibility that Huey and Riley's parents (Grandad's son and his wife) died somehow. That would be reason to have those wedding photos.

  • @TRBtree Idk man, it could be Huey and Riley's parents.

  • I died when the white dude pulled out the gun lmaoo

  • "<3 2 paint TREES"

    LOL EPIC!

  • but bob ross has many pics with th police he loved everyone.

  • It's a younger Granddad and his former wife.

  • tom scott played his sax on this song...the original song is today by Jefferson airplane

  • favorite episode...its their parents right?

  • 2 cops dislikes

  • A great tribute to the late great Bob Ross, happy tree's mother fuckers!!!

  • song?

  • They reminisce over you (my god) BTW i think it's h and r 's parents

  • This aint beat street!

  • Great touching moment...

  • This will always be my top 5 boondocks episodes. T.r.o.y.

They need to bring the art teacher back!

  • i also thought it was riley & hueys parents?

  • the suductive look that riely/hueys grandmother and the nervous school boy look on granddads face is perfect... even tho its a cartoon you can almost see the love between them

  • too all stupid fucks who dont understand ... riley painted his own house where huey and granddad live, this photo is of their grandmother who was granddads only ture love who died, the photo is of granddad and grandma's wedding day (presumably during the cake cutting since every one whos married has that photo taken) the song is tom scott - today , no its nor a remix, no its the other b.s. morons are saying it is ... (why do you think grand dad crys and they yells at riley to clean it up)

  • @kenmabie if you actually watch the show you will see thqt riley has been tagging everyone house, his granddad takes hin to an art teacher, the art teacher is some one who is like bob ross (famous painter) "bob" see rileys talent and starts tagging with him giving him instruction , granddad dont believe riely abut the master pieces that are popping up on every ones houses, so riley goes to the basment finds the wedding photo and paints his own house

  • @kenmabie the message bob tried to teach riley earlier in the episode about "paint about some one you love" finally reaches riley and what it means to be an artist, we never see "bob" again

  • Why are breast feeding tips a suggestion?

  • @1torero wjo dont like tits?

  • What makes this scene so good is that the song by Tom Scott was sampled by Pete Rock & CL smooth in the well known song,"They Reminisce over you" T.R.O.Y. which was dedicated to their friend Troy who died. And Riley paints a picture of his grandfathers lost love....

  • @azsmoothe I couldn't remember where I'd heard the original and have been looking for ages!!! thanks!

  • @azsmoothe Nice interpretation man, but aren't those Riley and Huey's parents? That's what I thought but I could be wrong.

  • @tayknight14 its his grandpa (the crying guy) and their dead grand mothers wedding photo

  • @azsmoothe um its therir grandmother ...

  • hahaha never watched the boondocks but i had no idea bob ross would be in it!

  • damn this was the most real moment for me in the show

  • riley and bob ross, who woulda thunk it?

  • Pete Rock and CL Smooth-Troy :)

  • God this song and scene is beautiful! It really brought tears to my eyes :')

  • @Iamjustherek Indeed. This was one of the most important shows of The Boondocks. I hope Season 4 will bring more like it.

  • press 1 over and over to see bob moan and hump in mid air

  • How did he die though?

  • brestfeeding tips in the suggestions???

    W..

    T..

    F..

  • @PolarSmoke what you dont like tits? ... fag

  • @kenmabie if you get aroused from seeing kids suckle their mother breast then youre sick

  • press 7 over and over

  • Today (feat. The California Dreamers) by Tom Scott is the song.

  • One of the best art teachers R.I.P BOB Ross

  • I remember seeing this part of the episode before I really watched Boondocks (I used to think those kind of shows were bad, but I watched them a bit anyway >_< :P ) It came on again today and I realized it was bob ross :O

  • Those two dislikes are a damn shame, this scene was beautiful :)

  • Breastfeeding tips!

  • Did I just saw Bob Ross with a gun shooting at the police? LOL

  • the two people wko disliked this dont know atr

  • whats the name of the song

  • @yummmize "Today" by Jefferson Airplane

  • @yummmize "Today" by Jefferson Airplane sax cover by Tom Scott

  • "i dnt really like the police"

  • this was beautiful =')

  • Great song Great episode Great show it desserves some kind of award

  • i know there parents died in a car crash but who did riley spraypaint on the house i think itwas they parent because he said someone who isn't here anymore ,there grandad cried and the woman looks like huey and riley alot

  • @TyraReene It's grandad's wedding photo.

  • @TerranceSchaefer eitha way they both look like the woman and they grandad

  • Bob ross will forever be a bad ass.

  • Great episode.

  • 1:16 rileys first gay moment with bob ross

  • @TheJojo85180 i think its more like a hero moment. maybe he looking up to Bob Ross?

  • The Song: Today by Tom Scott....Sampled by Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth (they reminisce over you T.R.O.Y.)

  • fucking beautiful music at the end. so deep

  • i always tear up on this

  • god damn @cancerian is commenting on every comment on this video... can anyone agree he has no life?

  • O RLY?

  • Granddad is usually pretty hard-assed, but Riley's mural actually moved him to tears.

  • The groom looks exactly like a young Granddad, so my money's on Granddad on his wedding day.

  • @kingbeauregard It is Grandad's wedding.

  • @kingbeauregard yeah exactly they even showed the young Grand Dad so I don't know why some folks didn't get it was Grand Dad and his wife.

  • @kingbeauregard No shit. It's robert when he was younger, with his wife on wedding day.

  • I'm still unsure if that's Granddad and his late wife, or if that was supposed to be Riley and Huey's mom and dad.

  • @NuGhost it's Grand Dad and his wife because Bob Ross said paint a picture of someone who is gone someone not here meaning only one person meaning that has to be there Grandmother if it were their parents he would have said some people who were not here.

  • Hello... Again?... Huh? Whose House!?

  • I love this song more than you could know.

  • T.R.O.Y

    Powerful scene

  • Like that song..

  • THIS AINT BEAT STREET! lol

  • I showed this episode to my AP Art History Class. Everyone loved it.

  • @360Nomad Nice that's sweet, was it this video or the whole episode?

  • @Stixxits The whole episode.

  • There is a lot of emotion in this scene. If I was in Grandad's shoes I probably would have broke down in tears.

  • R.I.P. Bob Ross!! We all miss your beautiful trees!!!

  • @kayele Bob Ross was a legend I am telling you I loved his work so much so when he died I almost cried

  • i dunno if its the best boondocks scene ever but i will say it is perfect.

  • @lilhippo there parent were in a car accident

  • @brilinashow Where did you get that information from?

  • it was grandads dead wife

  • @Szreemo15 its huey n riley's parents

  • @Szreemo15 - Yup! It was grandad and his wife. "This ain't beat street!"

  • Almost teared up @ 1:43 I'm not gonna lie!

  • I hope we see that guy who looks like Bob Ross in season 4 if they make another season

  • EPic episode

  • I thought its Riley and Huey's dad that's why Grandpa was cryin over his son cause they said someone that has passed on

  • @afrobovice it would make sense. its there mom and dad who get killd by the cops by gun fire. u hear gun shots when grandad is cryin and idk makes some sense

  • @lilHippo you don't hear gunshots while he's crying, it's a different scene, it's not symbolic.

  • @lilHippo In the story line it was Grand Dads Relationships so it can't possible because the story line never talks about the Parents so their is no way it can be the Parents. If you look at each season you see that they talk about Grand Dads relationships except him being married. Also they showed him in Season One about his struggles so they are talking about Grand Dad and his Wife.

  • @lilHippo @afrobovice @BrendanRoganArts the police chase was a rendition of Bonnie and Clyde they robbed banks and tried to get a way Bob Ross and Riley spray painted on walls so that is what that had to do with.

  • @Cancerian1976 your wrong that doesnt even reflect with what was going on in the story

  • It's their grandparents. That's why Granddad is so thankful.

  • this episode was just craziness.

  • @Awesomeness12344 I feft the same way 2 man

  • Just because people keep asking,

Song is 'Today' by Tom Scott which is a cover of a Jefferson Airplane Song from the album Surrealistic Pillow.

Pete Rock sampled the Tom Scott version for the song T.R.O.Y

  • This is the most touching episode of Boondocks where u can see Riley's soft size. And the only episode where u can see their deceased parents.

  • Comment removed

  • @userfen i thought it was grandads wife.

  • i've been trying to find the name of this song

  • Simply beautiful. The song is just too beautiful.

  • I almost started crying when I saw grandad tearing up. Truly touching for Riley to paint that. Probably my favorite scene in the entire series.

  • what is the name of this song?

  • first episode i ever saw of the Boondocks absolutely feel in love with it at this point

  • my fave episode EVAAAA. along wit mr. medicinal

  • This is the first and only time in the entire series that Huey looks surprised

  • Two people hate trees!

  • i wish aaron mcgruder would make more episodes like this

  • rip the freeman parents

  • lol its the police i dont really like the police now in gon drive real fast so we can get away if thats ok with you YEA lol!

  • i love this episode lol

  • Season 1 of the boondocks was the best!!!! Too bad this song isn't even on iTunes!!! How would I be able to hear this work of art if I can't find it?? D:

  • this is my favourite episode. the "Riley episodes" are always very interesting because they reveal more about his character n show him to be more than what we usually see of him. he is a fine example of slow progressive charater development.

  • Bob Ross.... best art teacher ever.

  • if only bob ross could see this esp. lol

  • @BeZ3rk i think he would have liked it.

  • Holy crap, Bob Ross is a gangster in this clip.

  • they never stated how grandad's wife died on here

  • two people think bob ross is still alive.

  • R.I.P Bob Ross.

  • One of the best scenes in The Boondocks hands down. I still love hearing the original elements of the Pete Rock sample... gives me chills.

  • The only thing I was confused about this episode was whether it was Granddad's wedding or Huey's/Riley's parents wedding (thus one of them being Granddad's children). What do you guys think? Cause it made Granddad cry where that's where I think it was his wife, cause if it was Riley's parents then I think it would've made Huey cry too. Just saying.

  • It was Granpa's wedding photo when he was young. The lady in the picture is Huey/Riley's Grandmother, who passed away.

  • @dl1036 naw i think its grandads son and thats there mom

  • @liberal185

Huh you got a point there.

  • @liberal185

I guess it was Riley's parents and they could have died so long ago that Huey doesnt remember them so he doesnt cry. And after all Huey is not so emotional in the whole episode. Its my point of view but it doesnt rly matter anyway. Moreover to show that Riley has a soft side too not only his gangsta side.

  • @userfen In the story line it was Grand Dads Relationships so it can't possible because the story line never talks about the Parents so their is no way it can be the Parents. If you look at each season you see that they talk about Grand Dads relationships except him being married. Also they showed him in Season One about his struggles so they are talking about Grand Dad and his Wife.

Also that is not the meaning of the story at all

  • @userfen first it was to show Riley Selfish side he first created a painting on the wall with his name on it, Also Bob Ross was trying to teach him different lessons in art. He had moved from being selfish because when Bob Ross when a painting really looks good you don't have to put your name on it. He did that picture with his Grandfather in mind. showing that he became unselfish that is why Grand Dad said thank you boy he did it for him.

  • @liberal185 it was his Grandfather and Grandmother he stold the picture of out the room so why would he say thank you boy if not. Bob Ross said a person who is no longer with us he said only one meaning that it was his Grandmother's picture and Grandfather that is why he said thank you boy.

  • LOL

i always knew Bob Ross was secretly a gangsta

    xD

  • I love it. This song is too beautiful.

  • Favorite scene of the series!

  • That's the closest thing to a smile that I've ever seen on Huey's face

  • "...this ain't Beat Street !" BIGLOL

  • So he did one of his parents.... I won't lie when I first saw this it was hard to fight back the tears. that was just so beautiful. it even got Huey going for second.

  • @tazman91

I mean. I cant really explain it. It's just art. I think that, more than anything, the song really made the scene. The whole scene is great in general and you can tell how much effort McGruder put into making that scene. But the song makes the scene like a hundred times better. He could've used Pete Rock's version but he dug deep into the "crates" and picked one heck of a song.

And thanks for all the people who liked my comment. Appreciate it

  • Peep , Beats by Wallace Green

T.R.O.Y & Today both great songs, Thank God 4 Sampling, Pete, Tom and HIPHOP.

  • i seriously wanna know how they died. i feel like aaron mcgruder didnt really give a introduction to this show. >.> we're having to guess what happened it sux. but everything else from all 3 season were fucking awesome and if he stop making the boondocks im gonna make an assload of complaints and demands to him as to why the hell we need the boondocks. NOW WHO'S WITH ME?!!?

  • Riley painted His parents

  • @Lilin1989 naaaawwww he painted a monkey named bobo

  • @Lilin1989 uhh no..he painted grandad and his wife

  • are those riley and huey's parents that riley spray painted?

  • @4everkobebryant I assumed that it was young Granddad and and his dead wife (Huey and Riley's Grandma of course).

  • The song by tom scott today is sampled freom 1960's hippie Jefferson Airplane same lyrics and all but different more mellow feel

    Jefferson Airplane-Today youtube it

  • Question. Would it be weird to say that the kid in the breast feeding vid is lucky? Those r some amazing tits.

  • love how riley jumped off the ladder

  • i love this part of the show. and the song is a freakin classic. I always thought this song was a classic, but just knowin that Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth sampled this song made it all the more better lol.

  • This was a really good episode.

  • TREEESS!!!

  • love the omage to "they reminisce over you"

  • One of my favorite episodes

  • I think that this would make any real man, that cared for their wife, and then lost her to some unknown circumstances, cry. It would've made me cry, that much is for certain.

  • That saxophone line is some of the most beautiful sound. I've ever heard, hands down.

  • @pointlesswoodentoy i agree it makes me cry for some reason

  • The humor of the car chase, the heart-felt part when granddad saw the mural on his house and the kick-ass song by Tom Scott makes this.... my favorite Boondocks moment of all time, hands down, period.

  • I looooove how the license plate says "trees"!! That is the EPITOME of Bob Ross!

  • "Nobody told you to paint over my house cause you wanna make a ponit, this ain't Beat Street" hahahahaha

  • This was the first Boondocks I ever saw and since then I've loved this show. Wait, hold up. This isn't just a show. This is fucking art. "Show" doesn't do it justice.

  • Beautiful and loving, though bizarre! Love how they used Tom Scott in the episode and how they used Bob Ross as well. I love Boondocks.

  • actually pete rock and cl smoothed sampled tom scott! BOONDOCKS MY NIGGAZ!

  • this is seriously moving...

  • I lold at bob ross' calmity.

  • If only bob ross was really like that lol

  • Today by Tom Scott

  • what song is that playing when they are getting chased i know they sampled this son for the 90's song "reminisce over you" I WANT THIS ORIGINAL!!!
