Learning to build mobile applications is not an easy endeavor. It can be done, but you must have the drive and the aptitude (plus the time) to overcome the challenges. If you are looking to create a mobile app for your business (or idea), you would probably be smart to simply hire a qualified professional.
I know many talented (and affordable) mobile developers (freelancers and agencies). I'd be happy to provide an introduction.
Hi People. I know this comment is not related to the video, but our company is going under (incl all my saving) and this is my desperate last resort to promote our iphone app. it's called "FS Viewer" and "Analyst Rating Tracker". u'd be saving two lives if u downloaded either one of these apps..thanks a lot.
@linuxpowerification - because Nokia sells over 400 million phones a year ... that a lot of phones. ....and what so bad with symbian? Its stable, low powerconuming and reliable. ... Android is great, and pushes development...but that does not automaticly make Symbian bad... Symbian^3 as full opensource, combined soon with Symbian^4 with more customisable and more modern desifgn will kick ass.
that "opensource" is not so "opensource",because of its license, opensource of symbian^3 only works on paper, and symbian needs less powercomputing because its weack and old,my old nokia 6600 doesnt need to much computing power too.And when symbian^4 comes around it still needs to catch up with android 2.1 or other phone OS.Symbian doesnt even comes close to UNIX.
@actualizator: check out the $10M Adobe-Nokia Open Screen Project Fund FAQs.. Among other things, it explains what the Fund is looking for and about how much per grant will be awarded.
Nokia may think why developers don't develope application for their phones. I know how buggy is their java VM which is really simple, I can't imagine how buggy is Symbian OS.
@DjFreos I'm not here to defend Symbian, but judging hosting OS quality by its Java VM implementation is somewhat inappropriate, I guess. From my point of view one of the major problems is problematic or nonexistent backward-forward compatibility in different editions or versions of Symbian. When you make app that runs on Symbian^3 it does not run on ^2 or ^4. Also, Nokia is somewhat stuck between MeeGo and Symbian.
What do you mean? If you write the app in QT it will work in ^3, ^4 and Meego (Also possibly on s60 5th with custom firmware). Nokia is making it very easy to compile to different devices.
@homecrafters: not sure what's happening when you say you've been turned away, but make sure you are applying in the right place. Visit the web page mentioned in the video and go to the "Getting Started" section for instructions on how to enter.
So how do you actually get funding? You make it look so easy, yet when I apply with my award winning Nokia ovi apps then I get turned away. Please help me get funding so I can take my apps further.
@homecrafters - make sure you apply in the right place. Visit the website mentioned in the video and then click the "Getting Started" link. You'll find everything you need to submit your apps there.
