It makes me depressed to see all these parakeets and birds in such sad cages. The cage in this video is wayyy too small and the poor budgie has like no toys! Sheesh, if you can't buy it a decent cage and toys, then don't buy on at all.

? People have some very mixed up priorities! I can't help believe that some of the folks criticizing this DO actually eat birds, possibly ones that are kept in way smaller cages!

Your bird obviously has lots of time out of the cage and is so tame and trusting I guess you treat it well. Can't see if its a dirty cage - but most animals would rather have a bit of muck than be shut in a clean cage they never get out of!

This video is priceless!! That bird is awesome!! And to the comment below - give us a break..Does this bird look abused in any way? He was probably in heaven in all that lettuce!! And the bird didn't seem to mind being 'grabbed', as you put it, because if you watch him, he doesn't even flinch. Not even in the lettuce. He's a happy bird. No cruelty going on there.

Dude... That parakeet was obviously tamed to the max. I have had many over the years. It was very comfortable being handled and showed no signs of distress.

So don't worry :).

as tamed as they can get, they still dont think like an average human. after getting qabused long enough, its not like it just comes to them as a normal thing, birds have bird senses, and they have there own ways of dectecting distress. even if it was trained for its entire life, it still cant get rid of its senses, nor can it learn like an average human can.

and for all i know, taming animals isnt making it immune to cruel treatments.

also, notice the parakeet at 00:54, after being grabbed and taken out of its cage when not wanting to go out. its probably not noticeable since you don't own a parakeet, but parakeets often do that as an expression of being scared. having their feathers completely flattened, their pupils intensified.

First off, i've owned several parakeets over the years.

I only trained them to get on my finger, but MANY basic parakeet handling guides instruct you to handle them in this manner. There was nothing cruel or unusual about what he did in this video.

If the parakeet had been in distress it would have struggled/tried to bite him. If you noticed, the state of the parakeets feathers/pupil dilation was the same before and after it was taken out of the cage.

well, not ALL birds will get use to their owner. I have three and only 1 of them (video parakeet)is trustworthy and the other two, not so much. what u can do it let the bird come to you and dont chase it. and make sure there are no birds arond when ur training him.They dont like humnas when there are humnas around.
