this is a match point, its a tradition in china when reaches match point in the final(they don't do this in semi finals), and the other are not just short in one point, they will turn the final point into a 'show', a exhibition, make it lasts longer and looks good.

they are not warming up or anything, it is the match point in a final.

This was not an exhibition match. It was the final of a national tournament in China. Ma Lin (Olympic champion) got behind 6 matchpoints against Wang Liqin (World Chanpion), but since it wad a small tournament they decided to show this exhibition point.
