wow, this is a fucking sport, get used to it. These kids are going to be some of the best athletes in the world one day. Stop being so closed minded, its fucking martial arts... any parent putting their child into this obviously does it for self defense reasons, not to mention they clearly have talent and could make a hell of a career out of it. I wish my parents had me doing this when I was this age lol.
its wasnt even mma there was no striking involved it was wrestling and brazzilian jui jitsu so all you pussies can shut the fuck up you dirty paki cunts
For fuck sake. If you moan about pre-teens fighting against each other with protective equipment on them, please take a trip to Thailand and watch them fight each other at the age of 4-5 with "no" protective equipment.
Some people say they are learning self defense and others are saying it is brutal and disturbing. I think it is more of the latter. Teaching kids how to break other kids arms and choke each other is not self defense. In traditional karate, the kids learn control and the psychological component of self defense.
@xXchelsearoxXx so ur one of those... ur one of those people who are like theripists that think only one way. oh no if a kid sees people fighting, he will kill people cuz of phsycological damage!! oh no hide the children from the world!!! children arn't imbical sponges that suck up anything they hear or see. they have conchances!! wat u really have to worry about is the kids that skin mice for fun, or cut animals toes off and laugh about it. those are the ones with bad parents.
"A BMA spokesman said: "This example of cage-fighting among young children in Preston is particularly disturbing, especially as they are not even wearing head guards." I presume its another video the BMA were concerned about? Regardless theyd be up in arms about this one just as much. If kids aren't being passive slobs & weaklings they are up in arms - how DARE people want to be strong or have fun, and work ethics are so passe.. Traditional Martial Arts are utterly alien to them never mind MMA.
@andy7666 Indeed, this is a very controlled and safe fight compared to what the average gradeschool faces when they run into the average bully. Yes, I'll say it from personal experiance: school yard fights are more brutal and disturbing than this.
I would not watch children fighting in thailand 4 money to feed a family, so why would I watch children fighting in my own country, I m a fighter and my kids can learn to fight when they are old enough, until then they can be children....... I don't live my life through my kids
These kids have as much right to fight in this sport as anyone else. you guys do not understand the discipline that is entitled when you're trained as a fighter. How many fighters can you name that are rapists or murderers? how about football players? i thought so.
@xXchelsearoxXx you're stupid, it's a sport. it's teaching how to defend one's self. How many fighters do you know that are actually rapists or murderers? now how bout football players? exactly.
@xXchelsearoxXx I am so sick of fucking people like you it's pussy's like you who make martial arts look bad there is nothing wrong with this unless if they had no glove or head gear then yeah maybe I'd protest this but since they are protected then there is nothing wrong with it
@xXchelsearoxXx Are you serious? Its an art, without the cage its just called grappling or wrestling, is that the big difference you're talking about - the cage?
@xXchelsearoxXx Actually MMA is 10 times more like a real fight than Karate. Welcome to the real world.
Also, like any other combative sport (even Judo), this is a GAME. The goal is not to "hurt each other"; it's to win via knockout or submission. There is a high probability of pain and a slight risk of injury but they are by no means the goal of this game.
@xXchelsearoxXx its called 'competition', no pain no gain. there's no such thing as 'big difference' between fighting in a stadium during my karate tournament days than fighting in a cage like these kids. it's not like a gladiator fight to death, get over it - its just a sport
@xXchelsearoxXx i am doing karate tournaments when i was a kid, no helmets, no pads and now im an adult i am a murderer? seriously? where you the kid who gets bullied around at school, can't even gain respect from other boys?
The only disturbing thing I see is the Ref. stopping the jiu-jitsu game on the ground. Let the little dudes get their submissions, they're earning them!
There is nothing disturbing of martial arts. Contrary to popular misconception, mixed martial arts does not promote violence. It promotes a fighting spirit and respect. Children can learn a great deal from engaging in this highly competitive sport.
this is disturbing...whats more disturbing are the comments supporting this stupid game...We need kids with brains and they should be taught somethig innovative...Learning martial arts is something nice and make them more focussed...but cage fight..now we are giving all the hatred among the adults to the kids..so pathetic..
@abrahamsamuel79 You're an idiot. Cage fighting incorporates all martial arts into one. If you weren't a pussy you would know this. People need to stop buying into media hype about everything. I'll put money on the fact you bought cases of water and food because of the dread Swine flu!!! Or even the dreaded bird flu!!! The kids are wearing head gear and protection. If everyone in the world was as dumb as you wed all be fat fucking pussy's you dirty anal dildo
@abrahamsamuel79 Cage fighting is mixed martial arts. Think about boxing for example. Would boxing be more brutal if it was in a cage? Of course not. So why is martial arts more brutal just because it's in a cage? What's pathetic is that all you see is a cage, but you don't see the protective headgear, shin guards, gloves and the ref making sure nobody gets seriously injured. Furthermore, all children go to school aswell, they are taught just like every other future professor or politician.
@kumajunko couldnt agree more, there are loads of fat kids doing nothing with their lives. as a fighter myself i wish the opportunity was there for me when i was younger, this is a skilled sport and takes alot more than just swinging fists.
I heard about this on the news the other day and wanted to see it, I am a huge MMA fan and don't even think of it as fighting, I think of it as a combat sport becasue thats exactly what it is, I was undecided until I just saw it if or not I though it was ok, but now I have seen it I see nothing wrong with it, all I see is 2 kids competeing in a sport with the conditions ajusted accordingly with the shin guards and head gear in place to make competing in this sport suitible for children.
i was hearing about about kids Cage Fighting on the Radio most of the day, now i see it i really cart see much of a Proplem with this, its really not bad as people make it out too be, i world not have a big proplem with ether manVman or woman v woman or boy v girl same age or girl v girl or boy v boy. IF ANYONE HAS A REAL PROPELM WITH IT, THEN WHAT IS IT AND WHY, THEY HAVE BODY ARMOR GEAR ON ITS MORE ABOUT POINTS THAN PAIN, HAVE U NEVER SEEN WORSE ON THE STREETS WITH KIDS FIGHTING ON THE STRET
For god's sake, why is it that everything that is fun for kids is called 'disturbing' by parents? Video games always get bad-mouthed by adults, because we apparently copy it. I played Pacman a few days ago, but I haven't been eating white pills. Everyone has played Super Mario Bros, but I don't recall the same people smashing their heads against brick walls hoping coins come out. Just with video games, if these kids start beating up others, that's the parents' fault, not the children's fault.
this is balls whats the big deal these kids are 9/10 years old with headgear leg guards not proper mma gloves those are sparing glove 9oz also they have cut men, doctor and a referee get a grip
"A BMA spokesman said: "This example of cage-fighting among young children in Preston is particularly disturbing, especially as they are not even wearing head guards."
Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr............................................................... they are wearing head guards who ever commented that apparently forgot to open their eyes - small mistake happens to all of us lol! .... (SARCASM)

@nalby92 these are two TINY children who don't understand the implication of cage fighting and certainly aren't old enough or mature enough to make the decision to get in the wrong. Parents have clearly put these boys in this situation. These boys could experience lifelong injuries. They are just 8 years old.Their brains are several years away from being fully developed as are the rest of their bodies, Now can you see why this is disturbing?
@nalby92 yes but the difference between kids getting into a schoolyard scrap and this is that a schoolyard scrap isn't usually held within a cage and doesn't have a bunch of grown people spectators. And kids in schoolyard scraps generally don't use martial arts. It's borderline child abuse.
@nalby92 yes but its normal and expected from society that on a schoolyard there will be scraps and there will be children laughing at you. And the kids make the decisions themselves to engage in a fight. Here? an adult has made that decision for them.and a schoolyard fight 9 times out of 10 doesnt involve martial arts of any kind. adults made the decision to train these kids in this style for adults to watch them. child abuse.
@richardthewriter have u talked to the children?? i doubt that they were forced to learn mma ...tbh i wouldve loved if my father tought me mma when i was 6-8
@nalby92 back to my original comment. an 8 year old isn't mature enough to understand the full ramifications of being in a fight like that and what it is going to do to their body. So talking to them and asking them if they want to take part in this event would be completely pointless. They are children plain and simple. And regardless of whether or not you would have enjoyed it at that age is irrelevant. Now do you have actual points to make here or not because this is wasting my time.
@richardthewriter lol,im just sharing my side of the story if its waste of time for u dont read it :\ for me its not wrong what they did for u it is,its that simple
This is great for the kids. Dont see what the big deal is.. Kids fight in karate tournaments all over the world.. Why are all the liberals crying about. This good job boys keep up the good work.
It's hard for me to watch this, read some of the comments, read some of the public statements being made by community and government agencies, without feeling as if there is an ulterior motive to all of this!
There's nothing wrong with this video. These kids are having fun, they are wearing protection, they are being supervised...if you don't like it, then don't let your child learn this sport!
Beyond that STFU...I'm tired of seeing support for "girl power" and seeing boys get shit on!
Children would 'love' hitting each other with baseball bats if adults told them it was okay. Seems in England most people are more concerned with the welfare of dogs than children.
Good point I think we are breeding a generation of materialistic whimps! That why my kids go out in the real world, the love skateboarding too It's good for kids to take risks but they don't need to be exploited like this.
@kumajunko I wouldn't call that disturbing, I'd say it's what they prefer.
Though sports is good for the health, it can have a lot more issues in later life, such as premature Osteoarthritis. Lets not forget the countless injuries they will get, and where are the injuries on the Internet? There's none.
Also, sports has been seen to cause a lot more aggression in children, compared to video games. And don't say video games are addictive, because they're not. An addictive personality causes that.
My kids play rugby and roller hockey, I don't feel I have any right to condemn these parents. What worries me is the age and shouting from the crowd, children this age can't see danger or understand the pain they inflect on each other. These kids are being exploited, maybe living out their parents dreams. As for it's ok because the kids wanted to do it well my kids would kill each other if I let them! Is that ok too!
personally i don't find whats too disturbing, they have head guards, shin pads and the referee keeps it very controlled, the only contact is the sparring itself which many children do with every martial arts, i saw kids as young as 5-6 sparring with each other in the class i joined, its not like they're brock lesnaring each others face in a full mount is it? and at least those kids aren't pounding in classmates and developing bad fighting habits, keep it to the ring from an early age
@tigerxxxbunny yeah i think your right, people don't like the idea of "caged in" do they? i suppose its something to do with animals in a zoo, i think the cage is good in this sport because its a tool that can be used for defense or attack, teaching the students to be more aware of their surroundings (but that is only a theory lol)
This is not the real footage, In the recently published story the boys were not punching or kicking each other just grapping, and they had no gloves/head gear.
Wow, this is the kind of crap that makes it to BBC news? they're in a controlled environment AND wearing protective gear. grow up people. Only thing that would be completely like "hang on a minute" would be if it turned into a professional circuit. But lets face it, it's not likely to happen
this is absolutly obsurd and totally wrong to have 8 yr olds in a ring battering eachother.....firstly the news states that there is a investigation into this and it says they arent wearing headgear or gloves and there receiving medical treatment... erm i can see gloves i can see headgear but the problem here is the ages are way too young..whoever managed this event is a right retard for lettin this happen...
@bigs31uk This is not the one they meant - If you're talking about the 'news as of today' - The one Sky News covered was cage fighting without punching or kicking - it was simply grappling. WITHOUT any headgear though. It was just a type of 'wrestling' really.
I think the British Medical Association (BMA) should be more concerned about the profiteering vaccine companies that inject mystery substances made from aborted foetal tissue and African monkey's kidneys contaminated with unknown and known viruses into their arms in the form of vaccinations. That 70% of mothers are brainwashed into getting for their kids.
Now that is assault on a child and the government pays for it.
They are far too young for deliberate contact; facial bones are still not strong at that age. It's not the same problem as the accidental blows boys contrive to land whatever they are doing...
I think this is less dangerous than those kids being put in to a Kung Fu or other form of martial arts where it could go horribly wrong too. I broke my arm at the age of six in Kung Fu training and have seen other injuries during tournaments. This isn't as bad as what people may think it is although I don't really agree with it either.
The Kid in the blue shorts delivered a sweet round house kick during the intial bout. This should be given its correct moniker, 'Thai Kick boxing', since both adherants here employ techniques found in that discipline. Employing the title 'cage fighting', is surely just pandering to sensationalism and hysterics. So, now that has been cleared up, the debate now becomes 'should children be coached Thai kick boxing', and surely the persuit of amelioration in any any martial art, is a good thing!
Im not sure it should be banned - Kids are encouraged to do judo, karate etc. But cage fighting does seem a bit more extreme. I heard the woman arguing in favour of it on Radio 5 Live today though, and she didn't put a good case forward. She seemed to think it was ok as long as the children consented. Which I thought was an a bit of an irresponsible attitude.
damn shame, when i was a kid, i always wanted to do this.

Parents have clearly put these boys in this situation. These boys could experience lifelong injuries. They are just 8 years old.Their brains are several years away from being fully developed as are the rest of their bodies, Now can you see why this is disturbing?
richardthewriter 5 months ago
@richardthewriter mm i tried but no kids fight DAILY in school worst than that with no protection or anything,
nalby92 5 months ago
@nalby92 yes but the difference between kids getting into a schoolyard scrap and this is that a schoolyard scrap isn't usually held within a cage and doesn't have a bunch of grown people spectators. And kids in schoolyard scraps generally don't use martial arts. It's borderline child abuse.
richardthewriter 5 months ago
@richardthewriter 1st in schoolyard u have little kids watching u laughting at u which is much worst trust me
2nd this fight looks like exacly karate fight even tho it its mma
nalby92 5 months ago
@nalby92 yes but its normal and expected from society that on a schoolyard there will be scraps and there will be children laughing at you. And the kids make the decisions themselves to engage in a fight. Here? an adult has made that decision for them.and a schoolyard fight 9 times out of 10 doesnt involve martial arts of any kind. adults made the decision to train these kids in this style for adults to watch them. child abuse.

@richardthewriter have u talked to the children?? i doubt that they were forced to learn mma ...tbh i wouldve loved if my father tought me mma when i was 6-8
nalby92 5 months ago

Hell I don't see anything wrong here, if they are having fun. Just to many parents treat their kids like pets and keep them inside all day
rboiteau4 5 months ago

What is disturbing..is the millions of kids not doing sport. Living a life on internet, video games and fast food.

@kumajunko I don't do sport.
FACEJJ 5 months ago
@kumajunko I wouldn't call that disturbing, I'd say it's what they prefer.

Is that ok too!
exsugarbabe 5 months ago
personally i don't find whats too disturbing, they have head guards, shin pads and the referee keeps it very controlled, the only contact is the sparring itself which many children do with every martial arts, i saw kids as young as 5-6 sparring with each other in the class i joined, its not like they're brock lesnaring each others face in a full mount is it? and at least those kids aren't pounding in classmates and developing bad fighting habits, keep it to the ring from an early age
LyricistSavvy 5 months ago
Nothing wrong with it. Look how much protection they have. I think the false image comes from the cage
tigerxxxbunny 5 months ago
@tigerxxxbunny yeah i think your right, people don't like the idea of "caged in" do they? i suppose its something to do with animals in a zoo, i think the cage is good in this sport because its a tool that can be used for defense or attack, teaching the students to be more aware of their surroundings (but that is only a theory lol)
LyricistSavvy 5 months ago
This is not the real footage, In the recently published story the boys were not punching or kicking each other just grapping, and they had no gloves/head gear.
massmorehunt 5 months ago 2
Wow, this is the kind of crap that makes it to BBC news? they're in a controlled environment AND wearing protective gear. grow up people. Only thing that would be completely like "hang on a minute" would be if it turned into a professional circuit. But lets face it, it's not likely to happen

eganrafferty 5 months ago
this is absolutly obsurd and totally wrong to have 8 yr olds in a ring battering eachother.....firstly the news states that there is a investigation into this and it says they arent wearing headgear or gloves and there receiving medical treatment... erm i can see gloves i can see headgear but the problem here is the ages are way too young..whoever managed this event is a right retard for lettin this happen...
bigs31uk 5 months ago

What are they going to do ban karate next?

imayjustsay 5 months ago
It is really disturbing !! I don´t see any blood like on a real cage fighting.
fexnok 5 months ago
They are far too young for deliberate contact; facial bones are still not strong at that age. It's not the same problem as the accidental blows boys contrive to land whatever they are doing...
The venue and audience are also inappropriate.
1jammot 5 months ago

I've seen better fights in the playground when I was a kid. Although I don't necessarily agree with it, at least its in a controlled environment.
