  • i do the same thing and it keeps dropping the stitches on the bottom or unthreading?

  • THANK YOU so much for this.

  • Thank you so very much for this series of videos. I hope you don't mind but I shared the link to your video on a review I wrote. It was so helpful that I wanted it to reach ,ore people. Thanks again!

  • Thank you so much! The directions didn't say there would be that "little loop" when you get to the point where you have to tie it off. I was so confused as to what piece of the thread I was supposed to be working with- and what side of the fabric. Thanks to you I FINALLY figured out how to get the stitches to stay. I knew it was a user error but I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong!

  • I just used this, the dumbass thing only loops the thread it doesn't even stitch.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH! <3

  • I had planned on buying one of these until I saw just how much work goes into just getting it ready. I don't think I've got the patience for it. Your tutorials are excellent, by the way. It's good to see someone who takes the time to speak and show us slowly how a process works. Not too many people realize when making a tutorial they are most likely being seen by beginners. Great job :)

  • omg i love your videos on this. i just bought one today and wanted to make some clothes and i had no idea what to do even with the instructions! i watched all your videos and they were so helpful thank you so much (:

  • Thanks for this video. I was ready to take this back because I couldn't figure out how to get the thread to stay

  • Thank you for all of your videos. I've never held any type of sewing anything...but I did learn how to stitch on a mean button in 7th grade home eq! Now, 20+ years later, I got this little handy device due to all the seams & hems lately unraveling before a few washes to fix my "issues". You're right...it's not easy! However, you have shed a lot of light and I appreciate you giving your time to those of us that need help! Sew on! Thanks!! :-)

  • ^^ Thanks so much! I was fumbling around for hours figuring out how to do this and I find your video and I did it in one try! Where do you find a seam ripper?

  • Thank you so much Peg....It's one of the best instructional videos I have come across so far..I am so glad I found your video, now I can use my handy machine without any delay..Your video is so nice to listen to, with beautiful elaborate steps..Thanks a ton..

  • Thank you so much for these tutorials. I had found a Singer Handy Stitch in an old kit my mother gave me and had no idea how to use it. You have no idea how much these helped.

    :)

  • Great video. You are an excellent teacher and very pleasant to listen to. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and obvious sewing expertise. Well done!!!!

  • thanks so much for this helpful tutorial , i really UNDERSTAND how to use it ,it was very hard thank

  • Thank you SO much for making these videos! I felt like a dummy not knowing how to operate a supposedly simple device. Now I know how! Thanks!

  • @Eudevie

I'm so glad to know these tutorials helped! Please don't feel like a dummy: as I've mentioned before, the Singer Handy Stitch is, in my opinion, not easy to use and is definitely, not "handy". I applaud your persistence and determination!

    Sincerely,

    Peg Baker

  • Thank you for sharing your frustrations. Contrary to commercial ads on TV and youtube.com, The Singer Handy Stitch is, in my opinion, not easy to use and definitely not "handy".

There are many reasons why any sewing machine might not sew stretch knits well, and, I used a crisp muslin fabric to make my demonstrations. Try sewing on a similar light weight woven fabric to determine if it could be the knit fabric that is causing the difficulty. Let me know what happens.

    Sincerely, Peg

  • Tried stiching the sleeve of my t-shirts. Spent a lot of time watching videos trying to understand how this thing works. Unfortunately, when the stitch was done, it went through only1 layer if fabric, thus making it useless!! Tried it again on the other sleeve and the same thing. Plus, despite 'locking' as explained, the stitch comes off real easy.

  • Hi Francelle,

Thank you for your kind comment. I'm so happy to know these tutorials have been helpful.

It's always a pleasure for me to connect with another sewing enthusiast. I look forward to hearing from you again. Let me know if you have any other sewing questions I may be able to help with.

    Sincerely,

    Peg

  • thank you for this tutorial, I had my handy stitch for a little over a week and read over the instructions over and over and after watching the 4 video tutorial I completely understand how to use my machine instead of just tossing it aside with discouragement
