I don't trust them at all!!

I can see many countries needing someone to force them to protect children, but not the US. We have protections for children built in to our society, and I spent over 20 years in law enforcement dealing with this.

So whats the point of the rights if children dont know their rights? How many governments actually care about these rights? The UN does nothing to enforce these laws and there are no punishments for not implementing these laws. The law itself is no better, the law is the work of the government in which we know that in itself is very corrupt. Keep thinking children are seen as being protected when in reality they're not. I can go on forever with these areguements but in our society the views of childhood are pretty much nostalgic and far from what it actually is. There are lots of good sound psychological science that shows that hitting/spanking is no good for children. It only a tool for parents who don't take time to talk with their children.

Forbidding spanking doesn't forbid you to take your child in the arm and talk to it when it has done something wrong or foolish.

Well obviously dogs were is test subjects, but in studying this he proved that behavioral conditioning is highly effective. I've seen a parenting book that teaches parents how best to make spanking work and what it describes is that one should do it will not angry and also that one should do it immediately and always as a direct response to a certain behavior. This way the bad action and the bad result (spanking) are subconsciously correlated in the child's mind.

If you think that the government shouldn't controll how partent raise their children, then you should not oppose abortion either, as that are the womens choise. No, I know that the possible to abortion do not reduce the use of condoms or pills.

"Universality" or consensus isn't really relevant. If other countries want to be idiotic and ban spanking and homeschooling then that is fine for them. That doesn't mean though that superior civilizations like the United States of America need to adopt it.

1) It does forbid spanking, as there really is no need to do that when raising a child.

2) There is no where home schooling is forbidden in that treaty. It say all children shall have good schooling. If you can give that at home, then that is ok.

3) Not all parents are fit to be parents, and should get other parents. Is it this what you are afraid of?

4) USA is a great AND large country, and as in all countries there is a percent idiots who should not have children. You have many of those...

I would like to point out though that most parents do not take a Pavlovian approach to spanking. Instead they lash out at their kids when they push them to far. Thus the kid tries to see how close he can get before he get's spanked. An automatic response eliminates this though. This is why the effects in the book I saw describe how spanking can be very effective whereas in many of the studies spanking is not -essentially the parents are not doing it the right way.

Yes, you have the right, obligation, to be angry at your children. But you do not need to hit them to show that. Anger and showing that you do not agree with them work even better that hitting children "without showing anger". Human and children want to be loved. Show them what makes you love them, and they will do that, even when they test limits. Just walk away.

About the book. There is books about efficient torture too.

No you don't understand the book I saw explicitly told parents NOT TO BE ANGRY when they were spanking their children. The point was to get the kid to understand that this was a consequence to his actions rather than just the parents acting out.

This goes against research that say hitting your children is not good in any way. You can educate and disipline children more efficient with other methods than hitting them.

Behavioral conditioning is not torture, where have I written that? HITTING kids is a form of torture. Showing that you got the power to do anything you like to them. Right or wrong.
