If Grant was in his prime in todays league, he would of been fucking up all the small fowards. Lebron, Melo, R.Gay, G.Wallace P.Pierce etc. Just saying.
@01234567891989 do you see how Grant plays, look how he posterizes everyone in this video. and it was in the late 90's too. Late 90's= greatest era in basketball
@Bossrah we can only wish man, but just like Penny Hardaway. Grant will always be remembered as one of the special talents that was lost to injuries. I swear Penny and Grant would of 1-upped the ''man'' himself.
kinda sick of people saying that t-mac and grant didn't 'live up to their potential' too :/ t-mac was consistantly a beast and grant was amazing as well.... they just didn't get enough time to show it off :( but one thing we can all agree on is that this lockout sucks balls. these guys don't have too many years left...
@MadridNFRoses I know that, the same is true for T-mac. What i'm saying though is: they had reached their potential in my opinion. They were monsters in their prime; they reached their potential. The injuries just cut that level of play short by a couple of years.
sighh... back when the league was awesome and great handles was big (instead of a little hesitation move and then trying to bully your way into the paint with your weight *cough* lebron *cough*) geeze that 3:11 was freaking beautiful
Ya'll are crazy. @aznerd999 . Saying he didnt live up to his potential is like saying Gayle Sayers didnt live up to his potential. You guys do know who Gayle Sayers is right? @teacherryen77 and saying he wasnt as good 'defensively' just shows your lack of knowledge in general. You couldnt possibly be talking about the same 38 year old dude (now 39) that was 2nd in Defensive Player of the Year voting last year could you? Naw, couldnt be the same Grant Hill.
Good to see Grant keeping up with the young guns of today... why? Mileage. Coming back from injuries and still playing a high level of basketball... Hoping that he gets a ring before he retires
Hill was very athletic, but he didn't have a strong left-hand dribble and wasn't as good defensively as guys like Pippen, Penny Hardaway, or Drexler; athletic guys with similar builds.
he had potential even if he wasn't injured all his career he couldn't match kobe's talent he was good but he was just a slasher and a good finisher he wasn't a good jumpshooter
@trezeguet4ever i think grant hill wouldve been on top somewhere if he had no injuries look at how hes adapted to play with injuries. he went from being an explosive smart player into a better defensive outside scorer i think if he hadnt had so many injuries his game wouldve gotten better with time and he wouldve been a very complete player
Put this video on mute and open up a new tab with youtube . com/ watch?v=DSx_N18TWjs (without the spaces)... play the song with the video and it looks more epic
Grant Hill was Lebron James before Lebron James.... Hill just had a smoother game and much better jump shot. I also think Hill was a better defender. What I'm saying is
As well as Grant Hill still plays today for the Suns, had injuries not decimate his athletic ability and much of his youth, he'd be probably have been the best player in the league since Jordan Retired. The guy handled the ball like a point guard, he passed very well, shot the ball immensely well and dunked on you whenever he chose to do it. There had never been anybody that good in such a short time. It takes most guys years to develop a highlight reel like his and that includes Kobe.
I can't believe that his # 33 with the Pistons is being worn by someone else. When Hill retires, the Pistons should retire his # 33. Until then, they should take his jersey out of circulation.
I have to agree that, despite the unfortunate injuries, Hill has had a great career, and her certainly played at a peak level for a few years. It's not like he was robbed of his prime, and he's still playing now, at--what?--38?
@ShunyamNiketana WHAT??? I agree with everything but the middle "It's not like he was robbed of his prime" He was 28 when he got injured and missed basically the next 3 years. He probably would have 25,000 points instead of 16,500.
True, he missed--or played sparingly in--his late prime years. It's too bad. He was so good for a few years that it seems like he had a long peak. But maybe that's because he was very good right out of the blocks, when he was named co-rookie of the year.
@manimaduck Seriously, 28 is very young for a talented athlete. Kobe didn't start winning titles until his late 20's. So yes, 28 is an age where a player is in his prime and would still be dominant for another 4-5 years.
@danielcm81 Ya its young but its right when he was entering his prime. So if he dominates for 4-5 years and loses 3 of those then it gives him 1-2. Thats assuming he is the same player when he gets back from all of those.
Its true Grant Hill could be mention as good or not better than Jordan and Kobet if not for the injuries, why because he a smart player and his physical ability. He was expected to rein after Jordan but injury prevent him from doing that..
I agree that Grant Hill's career was hampered but he's still a 7 time all star and an olympic gold medalist i think people forget he was an nba superstar in the 90's. I think he's had a Hall of Fame career
Grant Hill the next jordan...oh wait Penny hardaway...no wait Kobe..wait Vince...no no wait Lebron James. People seriously, stop the comparison. Jordan is in a league of his own and im not even a big Jordan fan
@aznerd999 saying i.e. implies that you give an alternative definition, not list an example. Such as "sucks not to live up to your potential... i.e. not be as good as you could be"
really? bc they got injured? I dont think that means they didnt "live up to their potential". they were both phenomenal players for several seasons before injuries took some of their athletic ability away. injuries unforturnately happen and are not w/in a players control.
@aznerd999 This guy has a college national championship has been on multiple NBA all star teams and has played his way back into the league as a 40 year old after multiple serious ankle operations....potential???Dream Teamer too
@TheSheldon038 Maybe. I was at that game when he dunked at 2:20. That was for the win by the way. Its hard to say without knowing how good kobe would look if defensives could push, shove, and grab you legally like the could back then. Everything they're saying about Kobe & Lbj talent wise they were saying about Grant Hill back then.
@brodimaggio yea its hard to tell but, statistically i would say he was pretty close to triple double everynight. i think me growing up in the 90s is making me bias saying i would take hill in his prime over lebron.
never knew how much of a scoring threat grant hill was, this video really opened my eyes by what i saw if grant didnt get injured he wouldve been 1 of the best to play the game
The thing about Grant Hill if he was NOT injured and fulfilled his potential, I think everyone would agree, he would only be Grant Hill. His personality sets him apart from being another "MJ, or Magic". I never met the guy, but his rep as a fundamentalist, with respect for the game and its players and his explosiveness would've set his name apart from everyone.
I remember when he came out . I was so excited about this rookie i thought he was going to be the next superstar of the nba. He was an incredible player. He was putting up triple doubles like crazy.
grant hill had the whole package. he was a great defender, explosive slasher and dunker, could shoot the mid range like butter, was a great ball handler, good rebounder, has great size at 6'8", he wasnt a ball hog, almost avg a triple double he could have been the best in the league if he didnt get hurt and probably could have got a few MVP's
Dude has thrown down more than 20 points in his last 3 games. He's by far the sickest 38 yr old in the league. Shaq and Juwan howard aren't making an impact like he is.
G-d gives and takes away. Sad as it is, G-Hill has an opportunity to look past the injuries and enjoy life despite not having life as planned. That's very valuable.
@thewhitepumpkin yeah I mean he's already much luckier than most guys who get injured that many times for that long. He's still starting for an NBA team at 38. I'm sure thats more than he could have asked for when he was at the lowest point of his injuries.
I don't like to watch Grant Hill's highlight because it just makes me sad and angry to a certain extent. Why is it that some players have to have such bad luck? why is it that great talent like Penny Hardaway, Grant Hill, Vince Carter, Jermaine O'neal, and Tracy Mcgrady have to be decimated by injuries while talents like Kwame Brown, Aron Mackey, Eric Dampier, Micheal Olowokandi, and Many others get to play 12 -13 years with minimum injuries and laugh all the way to the bank?
this guy made a living basically being injured. seems like a nice guy and I'll bet he's got plenty of money in the bank, but it's a shame he didn't get a chance to play to full potential
It's sad to see a guy like Hill injured for so long. He was and, hell, still is a great player averaging crazy numbers in his first few years. He had a chance to be a very big name in the league, but damn injuries took that away.
Fortunately, he's on the suns that, while they'll probably be hurting without Amar'e for a few games, are a great organization, and with Nash as PG, I could probably score. He looks like he could go, hell, past his 40s.
grant was so smooth going to the basket, if he would have never gone through all those ankle injuries he would have been up there in the same class as jordan magic and larry. one cool stat about him is that in his first five seasons he had more triple doubles than lebron did in his first five seasons.
Top10 SF in NBA history regardless about the injuries...surely I agree about "he's still good considering his age",but it's such a pity that this bird broke his wings before he actually fly high enough.
my god he was special, i never forgot the year he averaged 26pts 10rebounds and 9 assist a game. I thought that was amazing. He never got the same credit as jordan, lebron or kobe. Crazy unfair the way things turn out for some of these guys.
this guy used to be second to mj in pure talent, but i like his character a lot better. he was way superior to kobe and lebron in both talent and respect, as well as character. a true star.
Grant Hill was one of my favorite players growing up. Like @Kingblueman13 said, injuries are a bitch. He'll always be one of my favorites of all time.
I think people forget how talented & popular Grant Hill was before his injuries. Grant Hill & Penny Hardaway were guaranteed first ballot hall of fame candidates before the injuries took hold. I can't believe how long ago it was. It's a shame what happened to Grant & Penny. MJ & Kobe are very lucky that they never had the injury problems Grant & Penny had
If it wasnt for his injuries Grant Hill would have been one of the all time greats in the nba, he was so explosive and a great shot, could defend, was a cluth player and most importantly he had respect for the game and the players that played before him had respect for him.
@Domini478 Are u insane??? Grant Hill was tipped to be the next Michael Jordan and was 10 times better than kobe!!! Injuries killed that mans career. Maybe you werent old enough to remember back then but man he was awesome!!!
@4barrm He was not all that great...he was good but he didn't have a game like Kobe! Alot of players was tipped to be Michael Jordan...The dumbass media has called alot of players that! Grant had a good game...he had great ball handles and he could jump very high...
grant hill is one of those players who had an injury that they simply didnt deserve at all, and its not like his body was prone to injury, it happened by chance. kinda like t-mac in recent years. it really sucks.
@enonx1 I agree horrible how those injuries stopped him from reaching his full potential. T-Mac is a different situation though. T-Mac was burnt out, jumped straight into the pro's and was a marque player from the get go!!

notice Grant Hill stopped drinking Sprite and supporting Fila after the injuries? I think there is a reason.

ORIGINAL GANGSTA!!

Dude has thrown down more than 20 points in his last 3 games. He's by far the sickest 38 yr old in the league. Shaq and Juwan howard aren't making an impact like he is.
ericandrewmcleodhowk 1 year ago
This guy could have been the second Jordan. Anyway, he has still more class than many others in this league.
Go Suns. Get the ring that Nash and Hill deserve.

holy shit i mean i saw his stats and saw he scored a lot of points and i knew he suffered a bunch of injuries but i had no idea he waas this good.

G-d gives and takes away. Sad as it is, G-Hill has an opportunity to look past the injuries and enjoy life despite not having life as planned. That's very valuable.
thewhitepumpkin 1 year ago
@thewhitepumpkin yeah I mean he's already much luckier than most guys who get injured that many times for that long. He's still starting for an NBA team at 38. I'm sure thats more than he could have asked for when he was at the lowest point of his injuries.

Its sad how people like grant hill, penny hardaway, t-mac,etc. where all good but there careers got slower because of injuries
iBran137 1 year ago
I don't like to watch Grant Hill's highlight because it just makes me sad and angry to a certain extent. Why is it that some players have to have such bad luck? why is it that great talent like Penny Hardaway, Grant Hill, Vince Carter, Jermaine O'neal, and Tracy Mcgrady have to be decimated by injuries while talents like Kwame Brown, Aron Mackey, Eric Dampier, Micheal Olowokandi, and Many others get to play 12 -13 years with minimum injuries and laugh all the way to the bank?

he better retire with the ring that he deserves.

Still the quickest 6'8 and above player I've ever seen.

Would've been one of the all time greats if not for those damn injuries.

this guy made a living basically being injured. seems like a nice guy and I'll bet he's got plenty of money in the bank, but it's a shame he didn't get a chance to play to full potential

He looks like he could go, hell, past his 40s.
thatonedude675 1 year ago
grant was so smooth going to the basket, if he would have never gone through all those ankle injuries he would have been up there in the same class as jordan magic and larry. one cool stat about him is that in his first five seasons he had more triple doubles than lebron did in his first five seasons.
lr248 1 year ago
Top10 SF in NBA history regardless about the injuries...surely I agree about "he's still good considering his age",but it's such a pity that this bird broke his wings before he actually fly high enough.

damn he was really good. well he's still good considering his age. hopefully phoenix wins the championship the coming season

if you mute the shitty music thats played during this video and watch it while listening to blowing money fast, it might be the greatest video ever
Fluco72 1 year ago
my god he was special, i never forgot the year he averaged 26pts 10rebounds and 9 assist a game. I thought that was amazing. He never got the same credit as jordan, lebron or kobe. Crazy unfair the way things turn out for some of these guys.
Kdaddy61987 1 year ago
HILL is better than lebron
energy06a 1 year ago
this guy used to be second to mj in pure talent, but i like his character a lot better. he was way superior to kobe and lebron in both talent and respect, as well as character. a true star.

in MY opinion would of been the best to ever play if he didn't get injured

Grant Hill was one of my favorite players growing up. Like @Kingblueman13 said, injuries are a bitch. He'll always be one of my favorites of all time.

This guy far exceeds the likes of lebron and kobe.

@4barrm I wouldn't say great jumpshot...he was decent...
Domini478 11 months ago
@Domini478 Are u insane??? Grant Hill was tipped to be the next Michael Jordan and was 10 times better than kobe!!! Injuries killed that mans career. Maybe you werent old enough to remember back then but man he was awesome!!!
4barrm 11 months ago
@4barrm He was not all that great...he was good but he didn't have a game like Kobe! Alot of players was tipped to be Michael Jordan...The dumbass media has called alot of players that! Grant had a good game...he had great ball handles and he could jump very high...
Domini478 11 months ago
@4barrm
grant hill is one of those players who had an injury that they simply didnt deserve at all, and its not like his body was prone to injury, it happened by chance. kinda like t-mac in recent years. it really sucks.
enonx1 8 months ago
@enonx1 I agree horrible how those injuries stopped him from reaching his full potential. T-Mac is a different situation though. T-Mac was burnt out, jumped straight into the pro's and was a marque player from the get go!!
