im pretty damn sure his feet are indeed at 90 degrees when he starts the trick. or if you want to get technical they are also 270, or an unlimited multiplicative of 90. and no, not when he actually performs it, as he clearly states that his feet are then opposite, which would be 180 degrees.

Whats funny about it is that once you reach a high enough level of skill, you move back to using a very soft bag full of "beads"...except they are metal so it makes the bag heavy and stick on your foot a little. Search "Footbag" on youtube...all the players you'll see will be using 'bead' bags.
