You can say all you want about Galloway, but on Iraq he is right. He may be a hypocrite and he may be brash, but don't let that cloud the fact that he can be all those things and still correct about the war. The problem with this debate is GG doesn't address the topic of the debate. He mentions Lebanon, Egypt, Palestine, Isreal, Syria, etc, but he very rarely mentions Iraq.

The US only gave support to Hussein as the Iranian government was seen as being the greater evil. Moreover, the American government did not sell weapons to Iraq, some American companies sold goods to Iraq that had civilian/military uses (like helicopters,) and intelligence; something you appear to be lacking in. France and the Soviet Union supplied most weapons to Iraq.

Whether you agree with him or not, to attack him on changing his mind is basically advertising close-mindedness as a virtue, which it is not.
This childish mindset is in my opinion one of the biggest problems facing modern politics. It often forces politicians to be either close-minded, infallible, or dishonest.

You might prefer Galloway to Hitchens, but if you look at the argument from an unbiased point of view, you will see that it's a back and forth battle, not a one-sided wallop. I think Galloway's screaming and whooping has convinced you that he is right.

People like you who focus on volume of voice rather than the substance of what's being said. Galloway also said unnecessary things, but i didnt Quote him on it.
However there was a meaning behind the unnecessary butterfly/slug analogy. Hitchins was firmly against war in 91 for the right reasons, and now he is passionately for it? THAT is real context. The crowd fawning is not context.

Don't be foolish. You're forgetting that the military and the Baathists overthrew the King of Iraq, who was backed by the US. The US only gave support to Hussein as the Iranian government was seen as being the greater evil. Moreover, the American government did not sell weapons to Iraq, some American companies sold goods to Iraq that had civilian/military uses (like helicopters,) and intelligence; something you appear to be lacking in. France and the Soviet Union supplied most weapons to Iraq.
