@mediaassault yea shandi and talk to me were good the rest i couldnt get into but my thots on Hot in the shade wont change its worse than the elder..i think
I am 16 and i've been a KISS fan since 2000. I remember this 3D video of the Psycho Circus music video, it came with 3D glasses and everything haha, and um i guess me being little, i didn't really listen to the music like i do today, but back then actually liked Psycho Circus haha, but nowadays compared to their material from the 70s and 80s, it doesn't even hold a candle. Sonic Boom was great, i thought it was great.
Psycho Circus was an okay album. It got me into Kiss. I was born in 96 and it came out in 98. My dad would blast that from when I was two til I was 8 because he brought me to the Rock the Nation Tour in Cincinnati so we had the live CD then and we still jam to that but now we got this one. Picked it up the day it game out. Great record
man come on every kiss record is a kiss record. kiss has always used outside musicians and producers, who cares as long as all for members are on the cover.i would go against any person who says sonic boom is better then REVENGE this was kiss last record where they were hungry to prove they were the greatest. where were all these so called fans during the non makeup years?? bottom line ive been a kiss fan since 75 and kiss lost it for me after revenge and carnival of souls.
This and the Alive 35 tour got me hooked on Kiss. Now I'm the proud owner of 10 of the 23 albums (I'm including the 4 solo albums.) God I can't wait till their next album and hopefully it won't take 11 years this time
@TurdFurggison Welcome aboard! I think it's great that the band keeps getting new fans even now. I'm going to see them this weekend. (This will be the 11th time.) Rumors are that they'll be working on a new album NEXT year and touring again. We'll see!
Dude, great review, but the contrapuntal style they use in the song "Stand" is a rarity in a KISS Song, and they pulled it off fabulously! Sonic Boom is 10 out of 10 to me!
Sonic Boom? Sounds more like a Wet Fart to me. It's so evident that Gene and Paul are still about the money but haven't half the heart that Ace has. Check out Anamoly.
i didnt think that psycho circuis was bad but sonic boom is better. there are few songs i dis like. but i hate the cover of sonic boom but besides that its one of my favs
I have played this constantly for 7 days now and I love most of it. Modern Day Delilah,Say Yeah and When Lightning Strikes get a 10 out of 10. Never Enough and I'm An Animal get a 9 out of 10. Yes I Know and Danger Us get 8 out of 10. Russian Roulette gets a 7. Hot And Cold a 6. Stand wich I want to like but it falls short with to much happiness it gets a 4. All for the Glory gets a 3 and like I have always said Paul is the Heart of KISS. This album rocks. Thank Paul for getting it going again.
Hey Dude I agree with everything you said here, I loaded the new album onto my ipod and I've been listening it to it pretty much all day for the past week and each time you find certain points that are great and bad, I definately agree its the best album in a while
First thing's first. This album was NOT 11 years in the making. KISS was not interested in recording new material until late last year, and had to agree with some terms before starting to write new material.
As far as the reviewer goes. Uneducated, pompas and plain fucking STUPID!
Semantics, my friend. 11 years in the making includes the fact that the band had to go through the myriad of issues with Ace and Peter, realize that they finally had a line-up they felt comfortable enough to take into the studio, secure a deal with Walmart, etc. 11 years of events led to the making of this album. Feel free to post your own review.
no what can go wrong in a kiss album: Unmasked and Hot in the Shade
darkblade1011 2 months ago
@darkblade1011 Unmasked was an album with OK songs slathered in pop production. Hot in the Shade was a glorified demo.

I thought psycho circus wasnt too bad. In my opinion it had 3 stand out tracks. Psycho Circus, into the viod(which was awesome), and We are one.

Only song I could do without is "Never Enough." The Gene songs RULE this album, along with "All for the Glory," which I hope they start playing live!
HOC666 1 year ago
I wish they would've played All For The Glory live, it's an awesome song and Eric can sing real good!
Doodgraver 1 year ago
@Doodgraver I agree. I've come to like the song as one of the strongest on the CD. "Say Yeah" and "Modern Day Delilah" being my other two favorites.

Can this be purchased any place besides Wal*Mart? I will not shop there unless it is a life or death emergency.
spunkeys1 2 years ago
You can try ebay, I guess. There's quite a few copies on line there. But, for now, the only place it's available brand new is Walmart. (in the U.S.)
mediaassault 2 years ago
Just wait a couple a weeks. The Pawn shops will be loaded with them.

I don't agree with your grade, as i would give it 5-6 out of 10, but agreeing isn't what reviews are about.
Good subjective interview with relevant references on the other hand... :)
-----------------------------------------------------
Although "Revenge" was released 17 years ago 1992, not 89, that's "Hot in the shade".
So basically what you're saying is that this album is better than "Psycho Circus" and "Carnival of Souls"...

I was never very good at math. lol Yeah, you're right. My mistake.
