  • gentlemen, congrats. with our combined efforts we have have mades drugs completely obsolete through use of.... the internet!

  • Well.. this video from the Residents "The Simple Song" came on at 1:30 in the morning on the public access channel and ya... I was pretty disturbed.

  • I swear, when you're high this is the best band...

  • It's like a bad acid trip....

  • I don't know what this is, but I want to see more of it.

  • @Naturality It's Schizophrenia. That's what I see here. (Having others' voices/thoughts seemingly tell you to do horrible things. Violent, perverted, etc...)

  • magic mushroom season in scotland, nothing better than mushroom tea ,in a scotcth sitting room.

  • Pink floyd's little brother

  • 0:30 frogporn omg?!

  • My butt spurts cheese.

  • You have to listen to this on headphones to fully experience it.

  • YES !!!!!!!!

  • the residents are not of your realm.

  • Well, I didn't plan on sleeping tonight, anyways.

  • These guys have a great sense of humor

  • this is FOUL!! love it

  • Listen...this was a great video...but is there anyway that you could repost this just to correct the sudden "freezing" of the video that occurs at 0:55?

  • brraaaaaainnnnn juuuuuuuuice

  • Yeeeessssss!

  • Kind of sounds like "Two Lips" from Animal Lover.

  • @kirbymaster5

Yes. It's based off it. This song was part of the bonus disc for said album. Said disc was comprised of a combination of session recordings from the album, including stuff that made it to the final product.

  • M Bison VS Darth Vader

  • They take take too much mushroom O.s.o

  • The Residents are awesome and original, but goddamn do their videos make me feel like I'm having a nightmare trip.

  • The Residents love music. That's why they make it.

  • they are strange but talented....now they seem mellow...my first album was meet the residents,,,,its great

  • Im a huge stoner... I just watched several of these crappy videos... I don't get it... its not music... not in the traditional sense, or any sense... it isn't pleasing to the ears, it doesn't have a beat or rhythm. Wtf is this crap?

  • any one liking residents music might want to check out ART OF NOISE. They were more commercial but you can tell where their influence came from in a heart beat.

  • BRILLIANT

  • i'm adding all of there songs to a playlist titled, when im high

  • Wow, I, uh.... I kinda liked that O_O

  • Somebody help me... i´m scared =S

  • @anonymouswillnotstop

Would you like to buy a tulip?

Would you like to buy a tulip?

Would you like to buy a tulip?

    You can pick and choose

    I have sold my wife

    And my children, too

I have nothing but tulips to lose

  • Humping frogs really shouldn't be allowed to be so mesmerizing.

  • @MikuMech I'm confused. Don't frogs spawn???

  • @renerook yes they do. Residents simulated human breeding on the frogs. You'll remember that video .....they did their job.

  • @devilfan1965 Thank you for pointing that out. I would never have guessed that they had simulated human breeding on the frogs.

  • Yes, we have to buy

    No, we don't know why

    Yes, We'll buy or die

    Yes, we have to buy

  • The residents could easily be serial killers.

  • @mcsavage89 totally haha =D

  • @mcsavage89 Perhaps that's why they must keep their identities a secret.

  • @mcsavage89 yea ben, i think so too

  • Could? Come on, get in sync with the world my beloved disturbed chap. They have been killing normality and all that associates with regular since 72. I`ll gladly offer some of my mental health to be slaughtered in the name of good fucking times next monday april 4th... and Its gonna be my first time too, ohhh, by tuesday im not a residents virgem no more, Im excitedd

  • @mcsavage89 well they are getting paid 2 sing bout what they love 2 do lol (fellow serial killa checking in)

  • @mcsavage89 They managed to be famous and anonymous on purpose! Totally agree in every way.

  • So yes, they're the best band ever. I already said this in another post. I don't care.

  • Really i do like the residents!!! People should actually take a brief moment of their time ,to listen to the beat (N. Tesla) and watch the stage performance. America is so geared on sugar coated reality bs, that they don't know talent when they see it!

  • wow!this music is good but I am alone at home sitting at my computer and I am quite scared. it´s like hell live, but the hell from childisch imaginings.

  • So the reason why one of the guys wears a black skull, is because the eyeball he used to wear got stolen back in 86- I think?

  • @TheSeekingSerenity Yup. Eventually it was returned, but they ran with the change. I suppose the fact that Homer's essentially the front man anyway made it less crucial-- and on the last tours, they haven't used the eyeballs at all.

  • @Danimal14222

I also read somewhere that the mask was damaged/defiled, causing them to not really want to use it anymore. I could be wrong though.

  • @makeaton You are right. It was nicked and then rescued.

  • it should've been longer :(

  • Any way you can remove the pause at around 0:56 ?

  • that was euphorically evil yo

  • Original eye!!!

  • crazy but I loved them!

  • hmmm..... trippy

  • I like the Residents heaps, I suppose they prefer to make weird good music. . . =]

  • Tool kicks their asses.

  • @Hudzan Tool is great, and definitely much more musically talented than The Residents, but in terms of message/meaning, The Residents kick Tool's asses. Tool makes "weird" music, is visually driven, and has a "real" message, just as The Residents did, but The Residents took it further than Tool ever has. And plus, they influenced Primus.

  • @yourmom416 What I'm trying to say is: when you hear a Tool song on the radio, you think "Oh, this is cool" and turn it up and jam. When you hear a Residents song on the radio, you think "What in the name of God is this?" and turn it off. Meaning that The Residents accomplished their goal, whereas Tool, despite being more talented than The Residents, have not; so The Residents win this one. IMHO.

  • @yourmom416 its pretty clear you like TOOL. i went to a TomaHawk/TOOL show and left as soon as TOOL took the stage and everybody asked why.

there is no way to compare the Residents to TOOL,not even in the same book.

  • @OddBank Yes, I like Tool. I also like The Residents. I wasn't comparing them, really, I was just replying to the person who said that Tool kicks The Residents' asses, because they don't. The Residents are much better than Tool will ever be, even though Tool has more musical talent. That's all I was saying.

And also, I apologise for the double posting of my comments; I'm not sure why that happened.

  • @OddBank everybody in the audience asked why you left? O_O

    you must have charisma man

  • @yourmom416 since when has anyone heard a resdents song on the radio

  • @yourmom416 Nope. I turn it up. And The Residents goall is not for people to turn it off.

  • "evil and sardonic things" - like george gershwin and james brown? like the dustbowl refugees?

  • brainfucked

  • The Residents are the Eyes of alls

  • Ah, I get you.

    Yeah, they are; I agree.

    =)

  • @GrandMofffOrdaz

    "pay tribute to evil?'

    What do you mean.

  • @MJSpiderman7116

definitely? you dont think much before spouting do you. how would you know what killers think? "get high"? on what? it only takes reading halfway through your post to get the impression that you are ignorant and opinionated.

  • Sorry, that honor is reserved for anyone who listens to this crap and gets enjoyment out of it. I said "get high" because there is clearly no other way to have any appreciation for this horrendous music. And opinionated? Everyone has their opinions on what music is, so I guess that you're opinionated for liking this music? Seriously. I'm very open minded when it comes to music and listen to just about anything, but theres no hooks, catchiness, or real talent involved in making this.

  • @MJSpiderman7116 Hey, guess what, this isn't music for people who like to turn their brains off and hum along to generic Justin Timberlake bullshit. I'll grant that most of their work isn't enjoyable as music in the conventional sense, but in terms of storytelling and experimentation, it's excellent.

  • I will give them credit for that I guess, they definately took risks and tried something new with this instead. Definately much more bold than alot of modern artists (Justin Timberlake is BS, that feeling is mutual). I just don't think boldness makes up for it though. It just sounds creepy, and its not something I can listen to without just feeling.. disturbed. Maybe that's what they were going for, but it's just not for me. Its defiantely memorable, just not in the way that I'd like it to be.

  • Heh, I'd like to see you do better, sir.

  • Are you fucking retarded?

  • I don't like this music, so that naturally means I'm not. Thanks for the concern though.

  • @MJSpiderman7116 actually i think he was attacking your ridiculous statements

music doesn't need hooks and it doesn't need to be "catchy," nobody ever said music had to closely follow your narrow and closeminded assertions of what it should be. sometimes music refuses to follow the same dull, average structure that other musicians are compelled to follow. you're the kind of person that tries to cage any kind of experimentation and outsider thinking. p.s., fuck drugs.

  • Lol closeminded, I'm sorry but I'll listen to just about anything. I have plenty of bands on my iPod that don't follow the typical 'dull average' structure of mainstream stuff. Dream Theater and Porcupine Tree in particular are examples of bands that aren't average in their writing and execution, and they're both immensely more talented than this band.

  • @MJSpiderman7116 are you really that proud to be a prog-rock sheep? there's no getting around the fact that they still follow the exact same contemporary structure and guessable melodies and breaks

just because it's literally not filler-chorus-filler-chorus doesn't change this

it still just sounds like saturated 90s rock

why do people list feeling uncomfortable from listening to the residents as a bad thing? it's art, art is supposed to get under your skin sometimes

  • Actually Dream Theater/Porcupine Tree do have a number of songs that don't quite follow the standard format, although they do have their songs that are like that. The thing for me is.. The Residents are definately a unique band, and maybe the unsettling factor does prove that they are artistic. But I just cant, well, enjoy music that creeps me out. Unique and daring? Yeah. But its not something I can listen to and enjoy because of its sound. Sorry if people dont understand, but thats how i feel.

  • @MJSpiderman7116

If I might make a point. I can't help but notice that you're trying to pull a kind of "I'm a reasonable guy, I just don't like it" schtick.

Yet in your previous comments, you implied that people who like the Residents are retarded. Residents fans are obviously going to be upset about that sort of thing so are you really surprised? I get what your saying but I don't really think its worth commenting about. I enjoy the Residents. Quite with the reverse snobbery.

  • *Quit with the reverse snobbery.

    Pardon my mistake.

  • SPERM SNOT!!!

    PEE FOR TWO!!!

  • look at how much of existence we ignore.that's why the dark or what we call evil stuff builds up then comes out.We must all express our true selves and work to attain goodness.Ignoring our whole only splits us (schizophrenia). JuNg clered up a lotta this almost 100 yars ago but americans continue eating disease causing food making walmart families richer .We rsuch a stupid wealthy nation! And now where inform is so easily accesible who will take the blame for our ignorance we cant blame i

  • Their videos are disgusting.

  • @ZLUGGO their videos are JUICEY

  • Yes, in a repulsive, disgusting way.

  • I think they are more into exploring the dark side of the human nature, known as the jungian "shadow" archetype.

Just like they are not interested in "normal" music, and are focused on the "weird" music.

  • @nakedfunk almost like anti transcendentalism

  • @nakedfunk I only discovered them recently, but I really like The Residents.

  • no way man.

  • @nakedfunk Yeah!!!I love the feel of the past as well as the present state of mind, with all of their stuff, almost like the bee men? Echo? Echo? Echo? and the bunnymen?

  • the vid is kind of bullshit, but the music is not so bad...

  • pure Crazyness

  • The rResidents are the Bomb!

  • Love the residents, live drugs .

  • So all of you(the ones which ask)are beetween 17 and 20 years old.......It´s never too late for Residents and by the way I´m 41 and I start listen Residents also with 17....saw them 3 times live.......2 times on acid!!!!!!!

  • PLEASE

    concern yourselves with my songvid

    CHILDREN's SECTION

    my abortive attempt at humor.

  • Why has it taken me 17 years to find The Residents?

  • why has it taken me 20 years?

  • why has it taken me 18.5 years?

  • It is never too late. But be warned - once you get hooked you will find it hard to break the habit.

  • I wanted to wait awhile before I responded to you. I do believe I'm officially hooked on The Residents, and I have absolutely no intention of quitting.

  • ಠ___ಠ

  • @TheMercilessEye: Be silent! Keep your forked tongue behind you teeth. I have not passed through fire and death to bandy crooked words with a witless worm!

  • One of the 4-second-films you left out was "dogshit sushi". Whenever I'm playing breakout on my blackberry, the bricks all look like those "sushis"

  • ಠ___ಠ

    what.

  • 0:40 They're-a-firin' their lazar! BLAAAAAAAA!!!!

The 4 second micro-films that make up this video were made long before the cookie monster / al joelson CARGIN MAH LAZER meme. They never fail to be ahead of their time.

  • Dude am I High! trippy vid

  • Now I know why it sounds so "conventional" for a Residents piece...it reminds me a lot of the music from "the Mother's House" in Vileness Fats...

  • His name is bob, but sometimes I call him HERBERT coz it bothers him, heh heh ...

  • This shit is deelicious. Great posy.

  • I don't know what/why etc makes some people consider that the slightest bit of abstraction makes that thing a drugs thang. They must be very conventionally minded folk. Betcha William Blake ne'er dropped a tab of acid. And dear old Pablo Piccasso - simply didn't do drugs. And when he saw balls he saw cubes. You see some people, found drugs produced spurious thought

  • The crazy video aside, musically, this is just about as accessible as the Residents get, I think...

  • I think you're right. They were always out there. You either like them or don't. I've liked them since I discovered them in the late 70's.

  • I didn't come across them until about 5 years ago, but it was still love at first listen. I've got a wonderful poster from the band in my son's nursery.

  • I worked for a record importer in the 70's and about 1977 I came across "Meet the Residents' in the warehouse. We were allowed to play records and I liked what I heard and have been a fan since. They're still around and putting things out. It's interesting that they've been around since the late 60's.

  • actually there are easier to swallow songs, such as half of the second half of the mole trilogy, "the tunes of two cities". Time to bust out the old vinyl, that was a good one.

  • these men are well into their sixties. good to see they haven't chilled the fuck out yet.

  • Stoned out of my head right now. Man I should look up trippy shit more often, this is giving me all sorts of fucked up senses. Wait am I making sense?

  • i always make the mistake of thinking about the word 'sense' too much when i'm stoned. you too? ha

  • Dude if you watching this sober then you one fucked up person. Bad publicity? Its the fucking internet who gives a shit. Don't be a bitch, its only weed.

  • I won't disagree with you... I am indeed one fucked up person. I listen Sun O))) to make myself feel better and read pessimistic philosophy, such as Zapffe, when life gets me down. Oh, and The Residents casual listening to me.

  • You a pig on duty, asshole?

  • Yeah, because the internet can arrest you.

  • im saying that hes just trying to show off -_- whyd people down my comment

  • i scare O_o =D

  • sperm snot

  • the frogs were unnecessary...

  • it was incredibly necessary

  • More necessary than the word necessary is to describe how necessary that was.

  • Without the frogs the video wouldn't make any sense!

  • I watched this video on 3 hits of LSD the other night, what a scene...

  • three hits of lsd you should have been unable to watch anything exept your own hallucinations, unless it was comedy acid

  • it was most likely also made based on inspirations of atleast that amount.

  • Residents + Buckethead would be cool...

  • arte

  • Penso che negli ultimi 50 anni sia tra le poche cose considerabili arte...

  • this really creeps the shit otta me x

    :S

  • The Residents scare me.

But they are also the most unique band I've ever heard

  • this is fucking weird! ...yet i liked it! =S

  • mmmm eat that baby

  • every day i start to ooze..........

  • so thats life.. thats what i was told anyways.. and picking your feet till they bleed may only be the half of it.

  • it rhymes with ax....those personal acts, of course those personal acts That cut through crap YOU DUMB FUCK!

  • something tells me i wouldnt want to listen to these guys tripping face... or watch their videos
