Fellow BMW owner, '00 328Ci, and it's been through more mods,big&small than I care to think of; currently, it's got a ESS TS2+ (customized, >16psi, built motor, +lots.

Back in the N/A days, I made a "FrankIntake" using a 330C/i CF Dinan Tube, aFe ProDryS Cone Filter & Stg1 Heat Shield, and Samco 4ply Silicone 3.5" Tubing (from Dinan TB-to-Intake); Heatshield/3.5" were wrapped in Gold "Heat-Proof" foil.

Intake kicked butt. +9.2rwhp and +8.5rwqt on Dyno (98ft elev, 72*F, 55% Humidity)

@fuadarab This whistling sound you can hear is the intake sucking in air which is why it's only noticeable after a certain RPM when it's really sucking in air

Just an advice for you there, you should look into all season performance tires and better performance spark plugs brands to make your vehicle perform even better.

@enzolara well, it is pretty rare to find the carbon fiber one now, but dinan sells like a matte black one the same size and stuff, but the carbon fiber one looks sick!!!

I have the same car and was wondering if you knew what made the whistle at high rpms? Im def not complaining it sounds so sick just wondered what it was. My straight 6 e30 never sounded like the e46.

@Dellm40 the whistle comes when the intake manifold switches from long runers to short runers usualy around 3500rpt to 4000rpm, the manifold on the old e30 engines was a solid long runer pice and not to forget that e46 has VANOS.
