What was that? home gymnastics? Skills gained during this training will not help in real aggressive attack situation. Students trained like shown make self- deception and their instructors are responsible for that... I never saw real combat trainings where real warriors are trained like girls: no single bruise... That's not right... students should feel real threat to be trained properly and make adequate response to attacker! otherwise its a ballet not a combat fight!
Way to argue like a two year old! Buddhism is not a religion moron. I take it you got your asked kicked by DZR player. If you knew anthing about the style you would never say that.
No, I just trained in Kano Sensei's Judo at the Kodokan and at International Budo University for two years (which are both in Japan btw, ever been there?). Danzan is a joke( I have read and observed). I never claimed I was humble regarding grab bag martial arts. Dazan is laughed at in Japan among Japanese Judo and Jujutsu players. I wont argue about the Buddhism thing because thats too esoteric, I have been to hundreds of Buddhist temples in Japan. I dont need to argue.
Judo, your kidding me right! Something that has more rules in it then your games of grab ass with uncle Bob. You do realize that DZR is traditional Japanese Jujitsu with filipino knife fighting and other things added in? I couldn't tell you how many Judo players have taken DZR because they tell me how "limited the style is". One of my best friends is a 5th dan in Judo who's sensi is none other than Dr.Ashita (the highest ranking black belt in the western hemisphere )
And he will tell you the same thing. If your going to knock DZR then come up with a better - more well rounded martial art. "Ive been to hundreds of Buddhist temples" - I see you didn't pick up any decency while you were in one but with your bloated ego I can tell your just a flat-out-liar. Majority of the techniques are the ones left from the civil wars in Japan. But you read that right (shakes head). And that most DRZ is comprised of many classical styles so try and do your homework!
I see you need to do you homework as well because your Danzan style wouldn't even exist if it were not for Kano Sensei's integration of Jujutsu techniques into Judo. I could not for the life of me locate a Danzan dojo in Japan, take that for what you will..
Danzan is to jujutsu what Bujinkan is to "ninjutsu", jokish. I have indeed trained at the specified locations & times in Japan, and have been all over, from Kamakura, to Kyushu, etc. I do also in fact have a huge ego. I never stated that Judo was superior to traditional jujutsu. Obviously the rules are a factor in their differences. Danzan however, is not to be taken seriously. My Judo education at IBU and Kodokan was just my credentials on the topic in general. Believe what you like.
I never even compared Judo to jujutsu. You are obviously a child, pointlessly, bringing your 5th dan friend into this for what? who cares?Go to one of your Danzan "professors" and ask him if he can explain the concept of haragei, I suspect both he and you will not have a clue what that is. If you had 10% of the Budo and Bujutsu education and experience I have, you might see things from my perspective. Are you supposed to be proud that Filipino knife fighting is worked into DZR? Shamefull.
I am not sure I made myself clear regarding Kano Sensei. he's is the man who reformed jujutsu techniques into what the world knows as Judo. He was doing jujutsu long before Okazaki was even born. Kano paved the way for your Danzan style development. Still tho, your belt and dan rankings are worthless in Japan or any real jujutsu dojo. Funny how you have done nothing but insult and label me as a liar based on my intitled opinion , yet I havent said anything about you, grow up.
You never going to find a Danzan Ryu dojo in Japan, it is a style created out of Japan. Danzan mean Hawaii it is the Jiu Jitsu from Hawaii based in Yoshin Ryu, Judo and a little of others martial arts.
It is like the Ju Jitsu of the International Ju Jitsu Federation or the Ju Jitsu of the World Ju Jitsu Federation which are styles created out of Japan based in Judo and Japanese Ju Jutsu techniques.
@JetLag317 you will never find a Danzan Ryu Dojo in Japan cause it was burn in Hawaii, Henry Okazaki and Jigoro Kano were friends and they both went to the same dojo when Kano was practicing ju jutsu, you should investigate a little more before type such of stupid things!!!
@JetLag317 well dude, that is because it was taken in part from japanese jujitsu, some Hawaiian lua added to it, etc, and that is danzan. If you do a little bit of reasearch you would clearly see that no, there would not be.
And..your a liar. No Judoka worth a damn would waste his time with compliant drills and theory of what "might work". Like every other douche who practices a martial art that doesnt consistently test it's techniques you make the flawed assumption that the switch from "I let go cause you tapped" to "I am going to snap your arm cause you attacked me" is non trivial. Trust me...it isn't. On the other hand the switch from "I can make this work cause you let me" to "I have to make this work"...
After the founder of this Beautiful system died, the integrity of this art started to slowly decline, especially after the death of Bud Estes. now most DZR guys are a bunch of kooks who forgot the fighting roots of the art. there may still be a few left but you could count them on one hand in the whole world! Okazaki was, among other things, a fighter! he based his system off of real fighting, nowadays it's against the "rules" in all danzan ryu schools to spar. okazaki is turning over in grave!
On what basis do you make the claim that it's against the rules in in all danzan ryu schools to spar? I assure you, it is false. Come to AK, or HI, there's "sparring". Go to the 70th anniversary celebration on Oahu this summer. Aside from clinics, there are ne waza and kumite competitions.
I don't know who started rumors like this, but I'm happy to disprove them :).
@jukido987 I am a Black Belt in Danzan and sadly you are 100% correct. I no longer practice the art. It has become something very strange. I remember being told by High Ranking DZR Professors (and ignorantly believing) that doing Judo would "ruin" your technique. LOL. Only thing it would ruin is your ego, because you realize even after years of "Kata throwing", you can't pull that stuff off on someone who had been doing Randori as part of their training.
This is one of the schools my sensei helped run before I knew him, but I think that this video was done after he moved. And all the black belts seemed to know Haley. This is awesome! I've found my people again!!!^_^

Can't you just train and not bring religion (ie. "Christian" Ju Jutsu, Karate, etc.) into it?
