My friend spoke with Rik Emmett on a radio promo here in Chicago & made a good impression because "off air" Rick invited him & his 3 ticket holding friends (of which I was one) to come to their Hotel after the concert for the after-show party.
Because my friend was driving & 1 of the other ticket holders, his girlfriend, was complaining of a head-ache & whining that she didn't want to party, she wanted to go home That P-Whipped, no spine, wuss gave in to her and ALL OF US missed the party.
Between performances at the Rosemont Horizon (Chicago Shows) and Alpine Valley, WI shows I saw these guys either 7, 8 or 9 times. Lost count somewhere in the fog of marijuana smoke that hung in the air. Those were damn good times!
His music meant everything to me in the early/mid 80's. A unique talent that most people didn't understand or acknowledge in a sea of vanhalen type rock n roll.
It's nice to see an old rocker who's kept it together and still sounds great. I saw Graham Bonnett a couple of years ago in Essen, Germany. It was pathetic. Good to see Rik still rocking. He looks and sounds great.
I'd luv to see the Doubleneck Gibson that I just watched at the US Festival in 1983...H'e the GUITAR MASTER!!! Thanks, Rik, cuz you've given us much, so much -
the eighties had/has a bum rap, music-wise. but time will tell, this music will hold up. Among so many great songs that put Rik and Triumph on the map - the common thread are those bright major chords, positive and uplifting lyrics, (a pronounced absence of sex and drub innuendo), and flat out sincere energy. Thanks Rik. Speaking of charity - your appearance at Jim Peterik's World Stage speaks volumes about your personal character...never gonna, never gonna...stop.
I got a tear in my eye lookin at this..then a smile...brings back a lot of great memories of those 80s summers....partying like there was no tomorrow...just having good plain fun. No pagers, cell phones or ipads..lol...I miss those days.
@davehutchinson67 well said, its songs like this that will remain in our heads forever, and time cannot delete it. I feel exactly like you do...Cheers

Lord time is a theif. I saw them in 86, 85 and 87 in New York when they were young guys. He doesn't sound anything like he used to. I was in my late teens and early twenties back then and I can't believe time has moved so fast. Still those were good days.
I thought Roger Hodgson was the only one who could pull off something like this. Just vocals and acoustic. Man, was I wrong. Outstanding performance, Rick. Ya still got it, dude.
i came from detroit rock city, but i have to say that triumph and april wine were always one of the best bands to come from CANADA. the both of them wrote and played some of the best music. rock on CANADA!!!!
I just came here after watching Triumph at the US Festival 1983. It amazes me that Rik and Triumph didn't become gigantic stars. I can count on 1 hand the people who have Rik's combination of guitar, singing and songwriting ability. It's wonderful that you're still happily entertaining audiences Rik. Never surrender. :)
Rik's incredible encore to close out his performance earlier this year in Dallas. Yea, I will bring him back in 2012...we'll see if I can get Dave Dunlop as well. Hope to see everyone there again!

Like Dave Meniketti, Dann Huff, Luke, etc, Rik is one of those RARE Dual-Threat shredder/vocalist combos in the biz. So glad to hear him live again.
