Do the monsters levels scale to your heros level in the quest mode? I just got that game and was having trouble so tried to get my level up so I'd at least have some advantage, but when I went back to the area with the monster, he was the same level as me...

Is based in turns. When you gain a level you can increase your stats. Among others effects in the game, each stat give you the chance (%) to obtain an extra turn when matching a certain group of Gems. Not to mention you can do the same when matching 4 or above gems (though is very difficult matching eight in a row).

Great job on plainning ahead - I normally don't think things through when I play.
I just love this game's epic music and awesome gameplay.
