  • May we learn from the haters destructive nature and inevitable lack of accomplishments.

  • People are funny.. they say they know what the words mean and then they clearly show they have no idea. Maybe they should listen to the words coming out of Bono's mouth again instead of hatin' in his face. Besides if you took the time to research where Bono came from, you might realize that there isn't blue l.e.d lights and daddies pay check in every persons childhood.

  • Bono was good mates with Bukowski so you Bono haters can all go fuck yourself. Bukowski went to see U2 and Bono dedicated a song to him. Usually the people who hate on Bono are selfish music snobs who have never done anything for humanity. Jesus man... live and let live.

  • @Burncourtable You sure about that? In the Doc Born into This it was Bukowski's wife Linda who was the U2 fan. and In one of his novels(Hollywood?) Bukowski takes a veiled jab at Bono. I don't think they were mates... Sean Penn was but not Bono. Hank had better taste than that... which is more than i can say for most people.

  • Bono---'Bukowski's an incredible character. He came to see us play. He said {adopts gravelly American accent), "I haven't been to a rock show since the early '70s", and Larry sang "Dirty Old Town" for him and dedicated it to him. And he is this 75-year-old hard-ass with tears in his eyes.

  • tom waits looks like mark lanegan.

  • give bono a break he´s chillin with tom waits and u r not

  • WTF! Did this Bono guy or CHARLES BUKOWSKI write these poems?

  • Bono should not recite Roll the Dice. He may appreciate the words but he's never been there... it comes off disingenuous and soft, like a school teacher. I doubt Bono has experienced anything in the poem. Like Bukowski said himself, You gotta scream while you burn.

  • @johnyard

You doubt Bono experienced anything in the poem??? Do you even understand what this poem tries to convey?

It is the story of Bono's life, and I'm saying that while not even being a big fan of the man...

It is about leading life without fear, doing something with belief and steely determination. Not making calculations and obeying to comfort only... Do you think Bono would come to the place where he is now if he hadn't followed the philosophy this poem is preaching?

  • Way to go ruining everything good in this world Bono. That's my favourite of Bukowski's too asshole!

  • Bono is lame

  • I've made a tribute to this poem, you can find it on my videos. Any opinions would be sweet.

  • Tom Waits needs to do audiobooks.

    I'd buy them all.

  • Man, Tom Waits is just so much more REAL than Bono. But that shouldn't come as a surprised to anyone.

  • Bono is great on it!

  • Bone-o - One pretentious phony rock star asshole fuck the world could do without

  • bono, what a fucking twat.

  • Who cares who reads it..the point is Charles Bukowski is a genius..not was...is!

  • Why is Bono in the same video as Tom?

  • Why did you call this "Tom Waits recites..."?? He's reading, not reciting.

  • tom, that`s a beauty..bono.. he is so pretentious.

  • damn bono made the poem so weak, he took the grit and passion out of it and turned it into mediocre wimpy pile of shit he should be ashamed

  • @BARE456 doesnt that pretty much sum up Bono in general?

  • As much as I don't like Bono, I think he read okay. I prefer Tom Waits on all levels to Bono

  • bono sux coq

  • There's not much that Tom does that I don't like. I think that everything that he does is genuine or he just doesn't do it. Bono, on the other hand...is someone making him read this? He has all the passion of a burned out high school counselor talking to his 38th kid of the day. Wasn't he supposed to be out somewhere saving the fucking world or some shit anyway? I'd like to smack those Italian sunglasses off of his smug face.

  • 5 stars for Tom Waits...0 for Bono.

  • can anyone tell me what book this is from?

  • bono is a cunt and possibly the devil, I can't even describe how much I hate him,

And here he is reading work from the best writer of all time (in my opinion) It just shouldn't be aloud.

    Man I hate Bono

  • Man we hate You

  • Well said! I hate that no talent cunt too! Bukowski deserves better than Bono! I think Tom Waits is worthy too read Buck though. Tom is a great artis. But FUCK BONO!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Bono makes me cringe in his recital. stupid douche. get cat aids bono

  • tom's the only person suited for reciting any bukowski poem i'd like to hear him do the cremation of sam mcgee by robert service

  • For fucks sake why is Bono there. When he reads it he's giving it fake emotion. He probably doesn't even know what the poem is about.

  • say i'm not number 2, say it!

Tom Waits gave a great reading and you can see that he simply has more soul than Boner.

  • Tom is an actor ,remeber him in" Ironweed"

he is also a poet himself

  • If Bukowski himself doesn't count, I couldn't imagine anyone more capable to read his poems than Tom Waits. He's rough voice suits perfectly to the hidden wisdom and beauty of these masterpieces. He's voice, I would say, brings them alive in a magnificent, masculine way. BUT NO, NO! Not Bono, NO! For all the goodness that's left in this world, this obnoxious hypocritical bastard shouldn't be reading this out loud. No, no, no... Son of a bitch raped the king of undeground.

  • Are you that blinded?

Funny how whenever Bono is "helping the world" there is a new U2 album about to be released.

Geldof is where it's at, fuck Bono.

  • BONO is a POS who gave up on music that had any sense of real meaning a long time ago

  • yeah, Bono did give up on music.

  • Heartbreakingly beautiful poetry.

  • Now children....Lets pick the difference.....heart and soul, true appreciation and then....Go all the way indeed....Not eating for three or four days does not mean doing the 40hr famine....Hideous!

  • whats bono doing here.he should be in africa and leave bukowski alone.

  • Bukowski lives.

    Tom, still the man.

    Bono... sigh...

  • ugh bono.

tom waits on the other hand. amazing.

  • bono you faggot you killed a great poem you fuckin loser screw you and your lil african kids jerk off

  • Tom Waits is cool as fuck.

    Bukowski rocks my world.

Bono is total waste of space.

  • Actually they did ask me to read but I was busy that day, so I think they got Bonohead to stand in for me. Having watched it I really should have cancelled my plans and carried out the reading myself.

  • rileyvmiller, it's because he's filthy rich, famous and has made many piece-of-shit albums. Definitely not in the poem.

  • bono vai si fude ,cuzao,...

  • When I see Bono's face I just see "King of FuckKnobs"

  • You sir, are a winner.

  • well played.

  • Oh, what a pity you put Bono the fuckknob in it.

  • Roll the Dice reminds me of a book I just read. Rorschach's Ribs by Marcus Eder. The main character has a poem by Bukowski tattooed on his arm. And I think Bukowski is my new favorite poet. Sorry Dylan Thomas.

  • What is the name of the poem?? the second one.

  • Waits is a classic, of course, but Bono should just shut up.

  • Yeah you can't help but think Bono doesn't do it justice

  • Bukowski´s masterpiece.

    Thanks for posting.

  • who knows what the fuck this is from?

  • It was a Bukowski documentary. Almost everytime I watch a documentary about a great artist I think, "I wish a great artist would have made this", and that's what I thought when I watched it, for what it's worth, which isn't much.

  • it's worth plenty man.
